Reset The Timer To Start Back At Zero?
Mar 31, 2010
We've set code to fire certain valves on the timer but once it gets to the last valve (checkbox) I'm not sure how to reset the timer to start back at zero so that it refires the sequence.
Here's the code:
Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, _
ByVal e As System.EventArgs) _
Handles Timer1.Tick

Okay my assignment is to change a code up using two functions instead of a subprocedure to calculate total rainfall and avedrage rainfall and then to add a startover button to the application which not only clears all the labels but also clears the counter and accumulator. This is what I have gotten so far my functions do not work and I can get the labels cleared. I just can't get the counter and accumulator to reset back to zero

In the first loop once it cycles through once it does not reset the data so it continues to hold the previous data so therefore the outcome is incorrect. Can I reset it to start back at 0?

I dont have a very good background in vb, so hopefully there is a simple way to do this.Basically what we have is a vb timer that is counting time is seconds. After fixed amounts of time, in this case 2 seconds, the if statements trigger certain events. Essentially what I want to do is say: after timer reaches st*2 (18 seconds) then restart the timer at zero. Is there any way to do this?

i have a textbox with hexadecimal values and i would like to use the slidebar/scrollbar to change the values (increase/decrease) then save the final values to a text file. To prevent the program from writing to many times to the file, i decided to use a timer. As long as the user still making changes or controlling the slide/scroll bar the timer will re-load (5 seconds). When the user is done modifying (no more dragging or clicking on the arrows) at that time the timer already expired, then the value get recorded to the text file.

I'm using a System.Timers.Timer in a service that seems to keep ticking after it has been disabled. I'm using autoreset = false so I would expect it to only tick once unless I start it up again. I'm calling stop again, just for good measure, but the timer keeps on ticking.I'm using VB.NET in .net 1.1 and don't have the option to change frameworks.Here is a simple console app to reproduce the issue. This is not the actual code from the project.I believe the interval is long enought to prevent any thread issues in raising the event multiple times, but I will admit I'm not a threading expert.
Module Module1
Private Timer As New System.Timers.Timer(10000)
Sub Main()
[code].....

I know this has been asked previously, but I can't seem to find an answer that fits what I'm looking for.
Need to have a timer reset and start counting down again automatically. I would like to use a loop to do it if possible, as I will be using the loop count later in the program. Here is what I have so far, the counter rolls back to zero but I can't seem to find a way to get it to restart again. For testing I set the time to .1 but it will be set for 2 hours (120) when its working.
[Code]...
The loop sits at 0 like I want until the messagebox comes up and then instead of the process restarting with loop of 1 and counting down, clicking ok on the message box causes the loop to go straight to 5 and the program ends. If I click on the start button again however, everything does restart.

I am using the MaskedTextBox and I am wanting to check for the following:
1. If the length of the text = 14 characters, enable the reset and start button
2. If the length of the text < 14 characters, enable the reset button, disable the start button
3. If the length of the text = 0 characters, disable both buttons
I am able to get most of it to work but when the length = 0, the start button is disabling like it's supposed to but the reset button is staying enabled. Any ideas? I have been looking at this code for hours and can't figure out why this is.
Here is the code.
vb Private Sub mtbClientPhoneNumber_TextChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles mtbClientPhoneNumber.TextChanged 'Make sure that there is a phone number entered into mtbClientPhoneNumber. ValidateUserInput
[CODE]...
To see the form in action, you can see it here. The reset button isnt disabling when length = 0

We only have few meetings for Computer subject that's why time did not permit us to discuss timer codes. Anyway, my concern (I think) is just simple (though I really do not know how to start).I plan to make a countdown timer of 60 s that will start once "Start" button is clicked and will display a message box when it reaches 0. I only know the codes for message boxes.

Here is my case:I have a richtextbox called Rtb1 I have the text property for this control set to "ThreadAmountEdit=[Thread Amount]" This was set through the RichTextBox Tasks function, by clicking the control and selecting the little arrow in the top right corner. In working on my form, I edit the text "[Thread Amount]" of the rich text box to "45". What I need is to be able to reset Rtb1 back to default ("ThreadAmountEdit=[Thread Amount]")on button click.
I've tried: Rtb1.Refresh() which doesn't appear to do anything I've also tried Rtb1.ResetText() which completely clears the textbox.

Is it possible to open another app without losing focus of the current foreground app? I have a program that will open another app and test something on it then close it, and reopen it again and repeat. Can this be all done in the back while i am typing away on another app in the foreground without getting interrupted by the new app opening and changing focus?
i dont want the new app open minimized or anything, just quietly open in the background.
I tried using process startinfo.windowstyle and that doesnt help much.

I've got a function api_request which takes API method as an argument, and returns XMLTextReader.
Shared Function api_request(method As String) As XmlTextReader
request_text = method & ".xml"
url = "[URL]" & request_text & "&access_token=" & token
Return New XmlTextReader(url)
End Function
I call this function from different places to make request to site API and depending on the method results are parsed very differently. So in each method I have something like this:
Dim s As Xml.XmlReader = api_request("users.get")
While s.Read
If s.NodeType = XmlNodeType.Element Then
If s.Name = "user" Then
[Code] .....
As you may see, I have the code ElseIf s.Name = "error" Then error_handler(s, "user.get"). This is because when error happens, server always returns something like this:
<error>
<error_code>4</error_code>
<error_msg>Incorrect signature</error_msg>
</error>
This is parsed in error_handler Sub, and depending on the error following actions are chosen. This code works, but I have to check if I encounter error like that ElseIf s.Name = "error" every time, though all the methods call the api_request function. Is it possible to check for error in api_request function before returning the Reader? The problem is if I start reading xml there, and there isn't an error, I can't anyhow position the Reader to the start.

I have a bonus timer where if you finish the level within the time frame then you get bonus. When my menustrip is visible then the game pauses. Here's what I got so far:

I'm just starting to use vb .net (using 2008 express edition) and I want to make a menu for my program that will be like a sidebar that when you click one of the options, a few sub-options will fold out that will push the main options below downwards - and then the sub-options will disappear and the options will go back into place when something else is selected.I am not sure exactly where to start in terms of making those options get pushed down/come back up..

In my Windows Form's application, I enable and start a Windows Form's Timer for a state machine which interacts with various User Controls. In one part of the state machine where an external device is being rebooted, I need to disable the User Interface (a User Control's UI) for the time it takes the device to reboot. The problem exists in that once I use System.Threading.Sleep, the timer that fires the State Machine stops and never restarts. I even re-enabled the Timer and re-started it after the Sleep command but to no avail. Is this expected operation or should a Windows Form's Timer be able to restart after a Sleep?
Snippet of code from a step in the state machine below:
Cursor.Current = Cursors.WaitCursor
MainForm.Enabled = False
System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(8000)
MainForm.Enabled = True
Cursor.Current = Cursors.Default
MainForm.t1.Enabled = True
MainForm.t1.Start()

I have created a 7 day timer in a VB form that is to be part of a larger project. It has 14 date time pickers set to hours and minutes only in 24 hour format (1 on and 1 off per day), 7 checkboxes, 7 radio buttons, 2 textboxes to display day of the week and current time and a few buttons. As a standalone project, this works well
