VS 2008 Timer Reset Loop?

Mar 31, 2010

I dont have a very good background in vb, so hopefully there is a simple way to do this.Basically what we have is a vb timer that is counting time is seconds. After fixed amounts of time, in this case 2 seconds, the if statements trigger certain events. Essentially what I want to do is say: after timer reaches st*2 (18 seconds) then restart the timer at zero. Is there any way to do this?

Here's the code:

Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, _
ByVal e As System.EventArgs) _

Scroll Bar To Change Hex Values With Timer Reset

Jan 27, 2011

i have a textbox with hexadecimal values and i would like to use the slidebar/scrollbar to change the values (increase/decrease) then save the final values to a text file. To prevent the program from writing to many times to the file, i decided to use a timer. As long as the user still making changes or controlling the slide/scroll bar the timer will re-load (5 seconds). When the user is done modifying (no more dragging or clicking on the arrows) at that time the timer already expired, then the value get recorded to the text file.

Timer Still Ticking After Stop When Using Auto-Reset = False?

Jun 21, 2011

I'm using a System.Timers.Timer in a service that seems to keep ticking after it has been disabled. I'm using autoreset = false so I would expect it to only tick once unless I start it up again. I'm calling stop again, just for good measure, but the timer keeps on ticking.I'm using VB.NET in .net 1.1 and don't have the option to change frameworks.Here is a simple console app to reproduce the issue. This is not the actual code from the project.I believe the interval is long enought to prevent any thread issues in raising the event multiple times, but I will admit I'm not a threading expert.

Module Module1
Private Timer As New System.Timers.Timer(10000)
Sub Main()

How To Replace For Next Loop With Timer

Feb 25, 2009

In the code below I want to replace the big for next loop with a timer but this timer needs to be inside the small next loop.
Private Sub Button14_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button14.Click
Dim s As String = My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText(dname)
Dim c() As Char = {vbCrLf}
Dim sa() As String = s.Split(c, StringSplitOptions.None)
For Each s1 As String In sa
[Code] .....

I have tried to replace it with a timer but cant get it to work rightwhat this dose is sends a line of text to a notepad one line at a time with a pause in between each line that is sent to the notepad, now the big number "Num" is what gives me the passing right now but with those big numbers it slows my app down.

Resize Form Using A Timer Or A For Loop

Feb 12, 2010

I have been battling with resizing a form in code, using either a timer or a for loop. When I say resizing, what I want to do is create the effect of a rolldown/rollup window. On my form, I have a groupbox with search criteria options, and underneath the groupbox, I have a datagridview with several buttons.

The effect I'm trying to create can be seen in Windows XP Security Centre; when you open up the security centre screen, you have your firewall, automatic updates and virus protection areas; to the right of each, there is a small round button, with either an up or down arrow, depending on whether the section is rolled up or down. When you click the button, the section rolls down or up smoothly.

Setup Timer To Slow Down For/Next Loop?

Jun 20, 2009

I have a For/Next Loop that adds values to column in a DataGridView. I want to set up a timer to slow the For/NExt Loop down. So the DGV will load and then the user will click button on the form and the DGV will have numbers added into all the rows of a specific column. For simplicity, assume I want to load the numbers 1-100 into each cell and I want to see each number as its passed.

I am not sure how t set up the time to work with the For/Next Loop in the Button1_Click event. Do I have to use a Timer1_Tick event as well and somehow associate it with Button1_Click event?

Public Class Form1
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load

Using Timer In Do Until Loop - Putting Single Variable Into Label

Mar 11, 2010

I'm trying to use the timer (not a Timer object) in a Do... Until loop. I want the loop to put a single variable into a label. When I do this it works and puts the value into the label (lblOxygenReading):

If btnGetOxygen.Text = "Get Oxygen Reading" Then
Select Case True
Case rdoColorWhite.Checked
strCurrentColor = "White"
Case rdoColorRed.Checked
[Code] .....

It goes through the Do loop and the For.. next loop but doesn't change the label. Visual Studio doesn't show any errors when I'm writing the code, but when I run it, it hangs somewhere.

Reset Button To Reset Player

May 29, 2009

Ok, so I am building my own program to control a video player I have through telnet, I have everything else working except one thing.I have a reset button to reset the player, when I press it, it sends the string "Reset" and the unit resets without a problem.But when I add a code to close the winsock connection upon reset, it doesn't send the string to the unit. I am sure what is happening is the winsock is getting closed at the exact same time it is trying to send the string and so it fails to send, how do I make it close winsock AFTER the string has been sent? Reset The Tab Order In VB 2008?

Dec 11, 2009

When I view the Tab Order in VB 2008, everthing has a tab order number and it is in decimal form. If I click on each item, it appears that I can set the Tab Index but it is hard to see a correlation between the Tab Index and the Tab Order on the form. Most of the items on the form are not going to be tabbed to by the user.

1. Is there a way to clear the tab order and only tab to the items that the user would use and in the order that they would do it?

2. What number should the tab order start with and do you start over with the numbering on each form?

VS 2008 Reset All Integer Values?

Jun 23, 2009

I am trying to reset all integer values to "0" with a reset button.I try not to use hardcoding by simply set them one by one. So my idea was checking all the variable's type and set them all to "0".

I tried to use this methode, from someone in this forum (sorry, I forgot the name but this is very helpful...) For Each ctrl As Control In Me.GroupBox4.Controls 'Check and see if this control is a TextBox
If Object.ReferenceEquals(ctrl.GetType(), GetType(Label)) Then 'Check and make sure this s the "TextBoxToExclude"
'CType(ctrl, CheckBox).Checked = False
CType(ctrl, Label).BackColor = InactiveColor
End If
Next

But when I tried to find the code, I couldn't get it.So, if anyone knows how to do this,
