I had following form. How to store and retrieve the user setting? So the next time the app will run the information as had saved? I had found related example, but not very understand about it.[URL]The setting i want to save is background image from resource, forecolor, checkbox and trackbar.
I have added a textbox and a combobox into the form. There are 2 buttons as Add and Remove. Everything works fine here but the problem is after addig/removing (using add/remove button) new items into the combobox, when I close it, the new items added/removed are gone. I need to save the new items added to the combobox during close. I can understand I have to create a Application Setting which will save the new items added to combobox upon closing. But I don't know which code I need to use? Below are the currently used code of this project.
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click ' This is to add new items to combobox ComboBox1.Items.Add(TextBox1.Text) 'MsgBox("" & TextBox1.Text & " Successfully Added to Combobox") [Code] .....
I have a combobox (dropdownstyle=dropdownlist) with 4 items in it (defined in design time). The items are the following: 1;0,1;0,01;0,001 I read a row from a database (which contains a field with one of the 4 items) and I want to display this value in the combobox.
I use this method: cmbtizedesh.SelectedIndex = cmbtizedesh.FindStringExact(pgreader(4)) But it works only, when the field value is 0,001. In any other cases the combobox value remains empty (the result of the FindStringExact function is -1). The pgreader is a NpgsqlDataReader object and retrieves the right values.
I have a combo box that i want a user to be able to start typing in a location and then have the valid values that match what the user is typing displayed below. The problem is i have about a 1000 locations that need to go into the AutoCompleteSource, is it possible to save all these locations into a text file and then have the text that is typed into the combo box compared aginst this text file?
i want to retrieve all items from combobox...actually i am making a marriage bureau desktop application for that i have made a form named partner search...i have retrieved partner_profile_ids from database to the combobox...and displayed their information of selected profile_id(i.e.selected combobox item) on a form.but there is a next button on form and i want that when i click next button next item i.e. next partner_profile_id in combobox should be selected..
I have been working on this for three days now and just can't find a simple answer. (It really can't be that hard to do surly). but now I can't see the trees for the forest anymore.
I populate a Combobox from an SQL database, this works fine and the data shows up fine in the Dataset Visualizer.
ComboList is called cmbStateList Two Database fields DisplayMember "State" ValueMember "ID"
What I want to do is simply return the ValueMember of when an item is selected from the combobox. When I use "cmbStateList.SelectedValue" in the cmbStateList_SelectedIndexChanged what is returned is the index or position of the item in the list, not the ValueMember ("ID") field of the data.
I've made a ComboBox in my form where I add some classes of my own design. Unfortunately they get a generic name when they are displayed in the ComboBox. How can I set their names in the Form?
Class Cabel Public Sub New(ByVal IName As String, ByVal IConstant As Double) Name = IName Constant = IConstant [Code] ..... cbCurrentCabel and cbNewCabel are the names of my two combiboxes
I can set the value of a combobox on a form by using ComboBoxName.Text = "SomeText" but how can I do this if the combo box is within a datagridview? When I type DataGridViewComboBox the .text property is not listed. If I try to force it, I get an error.
I programatically / runtime created combobox and bind it to a datasource but can not set its default value. Since I am using the Handler of SelectedValueChanged, this is causing the program to mis-fire. Here is the code I am using.
Public WithEvents T_combo as ComboBox 'dictionary holds data to use in other parts of program Dim T_Dict As New Dictionary(Of String, String)
I'm having a problem setting the SelectedIndex property of two comboboxes.
There names are, LateralStartComboBox LateralEndComboBox
When I run the code listed below, both of the comboboxes display list item number 6. No matter how I try to set the selectedindex their text matches. [Code]
Ok, I'm trying to set a value to each item in my combobox, but I don't know how. Lets say I have ComboBox1 that contains the letter A-Z, 26 items, I would want to set each letter a specific number, then use that number for something else. Like, if I set the letter A to equal the number 4, and the user has chosen A in the combo, I could do something like make a Msgbox say that value(4). Does that make sense?
I have a datagridview which has mixed values in one column. Is there a way to add a control into the Value cell depending on the row? For example, for Name and Age row, it will be a regulator textbox but for the Products row, I want to be able to add a combobox.
Im currently debugging my application to found out why it's running a bit slow, when I put breakpoint where i populate one of the application combobox it's run fast but after i populate it and when I'm trying to set the its selectedindex to zero the program halt for about 2 second.. this is the line where the program get stuck for 2 seconds:
I can't seem to set the selected index or selected value of a DataGridView combobox when loading data from a database. My DGV has two combobox columns which are bound to datatables. The DGV itself is not bound initially. After adding a row, I select a value from each combobox which then populates the rest of the cells in the row. I'm using the EditingControlShowing event to add an eventhandler to catch the SelectedIndexChange of the combo boxes. This all works as needed. My issue comes when populating the DGV with saved data, I need to add the rows and set the selected index and/or selected value of each combo box. I've searched through various forums and articles for the last week with no luck.
I'm using VS2008 sp1, .NET 3.5 sp1 and SQL 2005 sp2 Express.
I have a combobox on a form which has data bound items, the datasource is a dataset called ShiftType that was created using the new data source wizard. The data consists of three columns ID, Name ,Description. Name is the display Member and ID is the value member. This form is called from a different form, a variable containing the shifttypeid is passed as a parameter. I am able to get this parameter across fine.
What I would like to be able to do is, match this parameter with the data in the dataset and find the row index and set that item as the selected item of the combo box. I am confused as to how to proceed with it. Also, I would like to add an extra item to the dataset apart from the items obtained from the database. This represents "NONE", i.e. so if the user doesn't want to choose a shift type they can use the None item. How do i add this without having to add a dummy value in the database.
i have a DB table and a form the following fields , combobox and textboxes, what i need is how to write a query to retrieve data from the table when the user select some record from combobox
I need to save a setting which is then available to all users of the application on the given machine. It needs to work on Vista/Win 7, and the application won't be started as administrator.
Can't Save to program directory as the Program Files folder is protected on Vista Can't save to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE as that's protected too Can't save to server or web-service Where can I save data to? Even if the application rights were somehow elevated during execution, the registry is now virtualised in Vista - and so I will end up with a special HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE which is actually only for the current user.
So I am populating a combobox with all the computers time zones and then by default selecting the local time zone. I can populate the combobox but the selecting of the default item has me puzzled.[code]So maybe my lack of understanding this but when i bind the collection to the combobox does it not get filled with TimeZoneInfo objects. In other words isn't each list item of type TimeZoneInfo? If so why doesn't the qdx assignment not work? I get back a -1 which means it couldn't find the timezone object in the combobox but it can find it in the tzCollection. I also experimented with .SelectedItem but that didn't pan out either.I'm just not understanding how this is supposed to work. It works now because I think there is a one-to-one mapping from tzCollection to the cbo items.
I have a datagridview that is populated using an oledbconnection:
Private Sub FileSpecs_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
Dim cn As OleDbConnection = New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & My.Settings.DBLocation & ";")Dim cmd As OleDbCommand = New OleDbCommand("SELECT specFieldno AS [Field No],specFieldName AS [Field Name], specFieldType FROM fileSpecs WHERE ClientNo='" & ClientSetup.clientNo.Text & "' AND direction=" & ClientSetup.fileDir, cn)
[Code]...
The problem I now face is that the 'index' value of the combobox item for each row is in the field specFieldType which is populated into the datagrid.I need to be able to set the value of the ComboBox for each row when the form is opened, and also be able to save the index value of each row selection if any changes are made/saved.
I have a datagridview with 3 columns. The second column is a combobox which I want to bind with a dataset. How do I go about setting the column index for it as I am doing something like this.
