I am in the process of creating a program, using Visual Basic Express, for a physics professor who has recently had to rename all 1500 questions for his course. I created a database that has the old names, new names, and the entire contents of each question. The program seemed an easy enough idea, but has proved to be very difficult for me. I am new to programming (this is only my third go at it) and have searched for an answer to my problem for at least 20 hours, and have yet to find anything that will work for what I need.
What I would like is to have a text box in which he can type in a keyword (such as "Sun", "ISS", "Force", etc) and for the program to search throughout the entire "questioncontents" column and pull out any questions that contain those words into the datagrid. As of yet the closest I have gotten is for it to search the first word of the column, which is not very useful since most of them start with "The". I had also thought of creating several keyword columns and then just having it search through those, but I couldn't figure out how to apply the filter to multiple columns.
I am in charge of developing a searchable database which should allow users to search for any key term in every fils content in a folder. Note that I need to search for filescontent, not file name. Right now, users usually have to searchfor every file to look for particular filecontents with any key terms.
How would I make a program that would search through a .txt file, and find certain predetermined keywords. Basically, I have a very simple keylogger on my son's laptop to keep an eye on him. My hope is that I would make a program that would go through the .txt file, and if one of the keywords is found, then I would have the program execute a little something I have cooked up to warn to stop. The only problem is, I do not know how to search through the .txt file.
I have a search page, which iam using to search the database fields which holds the technical articles. The fields that iam searching are varchar(max).
Everything is fine..., I want to show the results with the first found instance of searched keywords in bold and some 70 to 100 chars before and after.
How can I exclude a common keyword like "a,the,is,or.. etc.." from my search query ? If you do a search in Google or other search engine it says "the" is a very common word, and was not included in your search.Is there a list somewhere that I can get all the common keywords that need to be excluded from the search query?
I'm making a (F1) part for my application. I made a form with a Webbrowser-control and I made several .html files. Now I would like that the users enter a keyword and that they see all the files where that keyword is found in the metatag <keyword>. What is the best (and fastest) way to search for that?
I am currently building a search page, which includes a textbox and two drop-down lists, a search button, and a datagrid. If results are found and displayed, I would like a label to display:
(e.g.) "24 results found for 'blue sky clouds' "
...where the integer represents the results count, and the keywords and/or drop-down list selections are included in the string.If no results are found I would like the label to display:(e.g.) "No results were found that match your selection. Hi, I need to program a simple Web Browser that can search for keywords and store relevant data in another file.I am facing a problem with authentication, mainly cookies and maintaining a session.So I read that Web Browser Control is based on I.E.? So may I know how are cookies and session handled?Do I have to implement them manually or are they stored and retrieved from the same folder as the one used in I.E? If so, if I delete the I.E.'s cache, am I also deleteing the cache of any Web Browser I make using Web Browser Control?
Is it possible with LINQ to SQL to search the entire database (obviously only the parts that are mapped in the .dbml file) for a string match? I'm trying to write a function that will take a string of "Search Term" and search all mapped entities and return a List(Of Object) that can contain a mixture of entities i.e. if I have a table "Foo" and table "Bar" and search for "wibble", if there is a row in "Foo" and one in "Bar" that contain "wibble" i would like to return a List(Of Object) that contains a "Foo" object and a "Bar" object.

I have a DataGridViewCheckBoxColumn and I am trying not to allow more than one checked boxes in the column. So after one is checked, when user tries to check another one, i want to prevent that and not have more than one checked box in entire column. I used whole bunch of events but nothing is helping me... Some time it seems working but if i double click the checkbox, it puts the checkbox... sometime it puts the check mark on my third click (not on first, not on second but on third...) What i want is only one checked box and if use tries to click another one don't let it happen.

In the screenshot, you can see where the BackColor is set for each item added to the ListView on the right. How can I fill the white space between the columns as well? I'm assuming the column width is the highlighted portion plus the white space. I thought setting the BackColor would fill this whole portion so that there essentially would be no white space at all showing anywhere in the listview (except maybe at the bottom). Is there a Property I need to set to do this? the listview has 1 column and it's autoresize property is set to CellContent.
i populate 5 listview on form load with some numbers, but i need it to making the first column in all these listviews Bold. When i try to do it, it makes both columns bold.

I have a dgv with a column type = DataGridViewAutoFilterCheckBoxColumn. I want to know if there's a way to I can get that entire column to become disabled (or Enabled = False) so it won't let the user click on the checkboxes. I tried looking in the "Bound Column Properties" but there isn't an option to disable the entire column.
I am trying to make a simple program that will have three texbox controls and it will have like a paragraph in textbox2 and I want to have key words that I type in TextBox1 and it will match the words from textbox1 and will find a line with the matching words. It will then show that sentence from TextBox2 in TextBox3.

I have two text files, the first text file has two columns separated by a space (" ") and the second text file only has one column.
The column 1 in text file 1 and text file 2 match albeit in different order, what I'm trying to achieve is for every field in column 1 text file 2 I want to search for column 1 in text file 1 and display the matching column 2 field in column 2 text file 2.

I integrated the access database in VB.NET using Data->Add new Data source and I successfully made it. Now I got a DataGridView. :) Now arises a question How to search a name in "First Name" Column? I just Googled to find row Filter. That appeared gr8 to me till I got a problem of adding new records. Once I applied Filter, I couldn't see the Addition of new records and I can't make selection process in DataGridView. Then I found that Filtering is not Searching. Any one to help me in searching the data in Dataview?

I have a textbox named "TextBox1", Binding navigator that is automatically generated on copying the DataGrid named "ContactsBindingNavigator" and DataGrid cotaining Contacts table named "ContactsDataGridView".
I need to do a lookup in a DatagridView column. I would like something with the blazing speed of what recordset.seek used to provide. I am assuming that a similar function/method is available for use with the DVG. What else is there to use that is better than my present implementation.
