I need to format an entire column via Visual basic .net for VBA excel spreadsheets. I need to format the column to the following custom size ("00000").
I am using the following to select the range: ws.Range("AC:AD").Select()
Not sure how to specify the format though..
I am trying to format a date from a table that I'm getting so that I can concatenate it with another string.But I want the leading zero - I don't want 1/1/2009 - I want 01/01/2009.
I can't seem to find a formatting pattern that does this.

View 3 RepliesI have a DataGridViewCheckBoxColumn and I am trying not to allow more than one checked boxes in the column. So after one is checked, when user tries to check another one, i want to prevent that and not have more than one checked box in entire column. I used whole bunch of events but nothing is helping me... Some time it seems working but if i double click the checkbox, it puts the checkbox... sometime it puts the check mark on my third click (not on first, not on second but on third...) What i want is only one checked box and if use tries to click another one don't let it happen.
View 5 RepliesI am in the process of creating a program, using Visual Basic Express, for a physics professor who has recently had to rename all 1500 questions for his course. I created a database that has the old names, new names, and the entire contents of each question. The program seemed an easy enough idea, but has proved to be very difficult for me. I am new to programming (this is only my third go at it) and have searched for an answer to my problem for at least 20 hours, and have yet to find anything that will work for what I need.
What I would like is to have a text box in which he can type in a keyword (such as "Sun", "ISS", "Force", etc) and for the program to search throughout the entire "questioncontents" column and pull out any questions that contain those words into the datagrid. As of yet the closest I have gotten is for it to search the first word of the column, which is not very useful since most of them start with "The". I had also thought of creating several keyword columns and then just having it search through those, but I couldn't figure out how to apply the filter to multiple columns.
I need to pull data from a database into a DataGridView, problem is the status field is stored as a 0 or 1. Not very useful to the end user.ere is my datagridview;

In the screenshot, you can see where the BackColor is set for each item added to the ListView on the right. How can I fill the white space between the columns as well? I'm assuming the column width is the highlighted portion plus the white space. I thought setting the BackColor would fill this whole portion so that there essentially would be no white space at all showing anywhere in the listview (except maybe at the bottom). Is there a Property I need to set to do this? the listview has 1 column and it's autoresize property is set to CellContent.

View 7 RepliesI have a datagridview I am displaying on a form and would like to format one of the columns differently then the available formats. I have a column that is a decimal(18,2) (in the table) named "MyDecimalField". In asp.net I could do this, in the "template field" of a datagrid.
math.round(MyDecimalField / 60 , 2)
In VB.net forms I cant figure out how to do that. Basically I need to divide the cell by 60 and round that to 2 decimal places.
IE
the Cell contains this: 1283.93
I want the user to see this: 21.40
1283.93 / 60 = 21.3988333 then round it to 21.40

In this column I want user to enter numeric values alone and when the user moves to next cell the value should get formatted to date type value(ex: 05/09/09). I have a SQL database, with some "status" strings. For every status I need to display a .bmp image .
I'm displaying the data from the database via DataGridView with LINQ. In order to display the DGV I have this code:

I was thinking to add another column named "Symbol" and based on the "Status" column to format the cells of the "Symbol" column to display an image.
I edited the DGV, and add a new image column.
I created a directory in my solution called "references" where I put all the .bmp files
I don't know how to do this. My first thought was to put an expression in the DataTable Properties, but I didn't manage to make that work. Another way is to format the cells in the "Symbol" column, and again I don't know how to do that. I tried with "Select Case ... Case ... End Select" with no success.
LE: Should I Insert the .bmp files into SQL database (varbinary(MAX)) If yes, how?
Two quick questions about datagridviews... I have an unbound dgv and I'm trying to do some simple formatting but sadly my .net knowledge is limited at best. I'm trying to make a balance sheet and I need to do two things:
1. How can I set row(d) to sum row(a:c) for each column (for multiple years of financials)
2. Is there anyway to not only make a row readonly, but make in unselectable (to skip totaled rows)?
I have some VB .NET software that interfaces to a load of old (but sound) COM objects. I have a masked textbox formatted as "##:##:##:##". When I send the variables to it if the number is <10 I don't get the leading zero displayed. For example:[code[What I want it to look like is 00:01:02:03, what I get is 00:12:3. I've tried the variables as an integer and a string with no luck.

There are some fields in that query which require this format. The Crystal Reports that accesses it gives incorrect info without this format type.
