May 7, 2012Is there a way to identify a file is being deleted and prevent the action. It should ignore moving a file and renaming a file. Is it possible to code this in VB.NET.

May 6, 2011I developed an application wich places some files in the programsfolder. If i manualy delete one of these files wich are not realy important for the application then when i restart the application i see that somthing like an installer places the original file back again in the folder. Someone can explain why and how i can stop this from happening? I would rather create the file during installation but i still cant find out how.

I call the 'Kill' command to close the file after the user is done using the program but errors out if the file is open/in use, I've researched and was unable to find a definite answer on if .net can close files out through the program, is this possible?

CompanyX needs a tool that allows an employee to quickly get another employee�s contact information and general business context that employee works in. The tool should allow searching (including partial matches) by employee name or employee id. If multiple employees are returned by a search, a list of the employees matching the search criteria should be displayed with the following data for each employee: first name, last name, employee id, division (one division has many employees), organization (one organization has multiple divisions), and job title. If only one employee matches the search criteria (or if one employee is selected in the list described above), the tool should display full data. Full data for an employee consists of first name, last name, employee id, nickname, division, organization, job title, phone number, cell phone number, pager, USPS address, fax number, internal mail address.

Mar 16, 2011I have currently developed an application to hide/unhide files. I used it to delete all hiden viruses, etc. Now I want to develop something else such as File finder, I have done lots of research and my own coding sucked.
All I am wonder, is whether it is possible to get a piece of code that allows you to search your whole computer for a simple item, or search in directories given by you.

It's the files located in the C:System Volume Information Directory.How can i avoid the exception but continue on. I can't put a if then statement around the variable declaration. because then i can't use the variable. And catching the exception just causes my routine to stop.
Search For A Hex Byte In A File?
Aug 17, 2009I had made an app that opens a file and changes a hex byte then when I click another button it saves it.I am now thinking of making an app that will change some hex bytes to something else, but the catch is that not every file will have some of the hex bytes that others will. Like I want it to search for 71, 13, 31, and 11, and change them to 15, but not all files will have say a 71 or some might not have a 13 or a 31...Also, if there was a couple of bytes in a row that I needed to change, say F132, would I be able to search for all of that at once, and then change it to something like F133?
