Jan 15, 2012just want to ask if a textbox with databinding can be used to search or filter data and display it to other textboxes with databinding on the same form?

Jun 8, 2012I migrated a project from VB 2005 to VB 2010. I have a datagridview binded to a dataset populated by the MySql Connector. One of the columns, with integer values, is displayed in a datagridviewcombobox type column. In VB 2005 it worked perfectly. But now, once migrated to VB 2010, the column doesn´t show anything. If I change the type a a textboxcolumn type, it does show the data. The column in the dataset is Integer, and the column in the datagridview is Integer also. But, strangely, although the value of the cell (when debugging) is Integer 1, the formatted value is String "" (empty). If I add integer items to the combo manually, the formatted value is the first added item, but still string, and not equal to the value property. It is the same whether the column is designed and added programatically or visually with the editor of the datagridview. It seems a bug in the combobox type.

I have a BindingSource attached to the form a long with a dataset (dsMovies) containing the Movies table and a table adapter (MoviesTableAdapter). My textbox that I want to use is called txtTitle and the datagrid is called dgMovies. This is the code I am currently using, and I am getting no results at all.

Nov 12, 2009I am working on a new application that retrieves webpage source info and displays data based on that data. Currently i have it read it from a textbox. What i want the application to do is read this textbox or textfile and seach for <name= and then read the rest of the line that its on. The source of the specific page i'm talking about will sorta look like:
<name=ASDF, Rank=2, Gender=0><blahblah234981723948> <name=A, Rank=3, Gender=1> <name=F, Rank=6, Gender=0>
and after each thing that contains <name= and all the way to the next > it saves the data to a string then adds to listbox
Since this might be confusing to you heres my pseudo

listbox1.items.add(whatever is after name= and before , in source)

and then after that i want to retrieve the gender and rank and ext but you get the point..

I am coding a Windows Application in VB.NETI am coding one particular form for an Emergency Reponse Information System (for varsity)On my form, I have three textboxes (one of which must be filled in) and below them I have a datagrid. I want the user to fill in one of the boxes and then click a Search button. These textboxes correspond to different column names in the same table. There is a Location textbox, an EmergencyResponseID textbox and a Name textbox. So if the person types in a location "Washington", then I want all the Emergencies that have happened in Washington to appear below in the datagrid.

Aug 31, 2011i have a texbox TextChange event which every time when a user hind a character in it , am querying data to my database and display that data under a datagridview control.but my data now have been grow up and still going, every time am enetering a character to the textbox is taking time to query that data and if the user type a quickly word then a lag occures to the textbox.
i have seen a lot of programs and microsoft programs that when a user is typing is not seacrhing anything unless the user stop typing .with out having any other event of focus lost or anything.can i do that also in my application with an easy way and avoid using timers or any complex way?

Feb 18, 2010I (think I) want to develop a custom control for my program in VB .net where I type into a textbox and simple search results will then be displayed underneath it (from a predefined set of items). Like auto suggest in google search.I believe the combobox does something similar to this but I think it only works on prefixes.At the moment I have a separate search form from which I use to filter a lot of possibilities and then use drag-and-drop to get the desired item into a TextBox.So ideally I want to combine this with a TextBox into which one can start typing at which point some results will be displayed and a user can select the item they want. (Say, an item from a list of products)
