Mar 10, 2010I have been practicing making small programs in a feeble attempt to learn something, but have hit a brick wall. I can not find out how to accomplish the seemingly simple task of searching a list box(containing names of music files) based off the parameters entered in a text box.

Jun 16, 20101. I have a multiline texbox and want to know if there is a way to search for a text in the textbox... The user should be able to input a search string and click a button to search all the entries of the string in it, just like ctrl+f

What I would like to be able to do, is to search for Pharaoh (any word) in a textbox, click the Search Button, and every occurrence of Pharaoh (not just the word, but the entire Verse: EX: Gen Ch7:14 Blah Blah Blah Pharaoh Blah Blah. The idea is to used the textbox1_change event to find a match in column A of table and once it finds the record, return the value of column B as label1.text. [code] In VB 2008 it's a lot different. I have set up the form the same way with the textbox and labels. I have made a dataset with (1) table (Table1) with (2) columns. Lets call them column A and Column B.I have added the dataset as a binding source to the form and also a table adapter. VS 2010 - Randomize Text From List And Place Into Another Textbox
Jan 23, 2011I am creating a Map Rotation Randomizer for my Call of Duty clan, and I am having an issue with understanding how to randomize the text from the list and placing it into another textbox.
Here's what it looks like right now:
All textboxes are multi-line.
When I click a button for a game (CoD4, MW2, WaW), it places the map list into the left textbox like:
mp_bloc
mp_broadcast
mp_crossfire
etc.
When I click the button with ">>>", I want it to randomize that list and place it into the right textbox like:
map mp_bloc map mp_broadcast map mp_crossfire
Or if I click it again:
map mp_crossfire map mp_bloc map mp_broadcast
And so on. I think I need to create an array, but I've never worked with those before as I'm still new to learning programming. I'm not even sure what controls I need to put on the form for that, if it even requires any.

Aug 18, 2010Hi, I'm working on a program that reads text entered into a textbox and creates a list of items by separating entries by commas. Everything is working fine, except, because I am using an array to store the items in the list, I have a limited number of entries. This is only a problem because, as it is written currently, each comma counts as an individual entry. Therefore, users can enter ",,," for example, and it would use up 3 places in the array.
I'm looking for a way to check to make sure there is text after the comma before adding an entry. I've attempted to use the .substring command to check the character after, which works until it gets to the last character. Because there is no character after that, it will give an error.
Here is my code for extra clarity:
