I am having a bit of an issue with a reporting tool I have in a program in VB.Net.when I select a date for the report all returns properly but when I want to print that report it returns all the information ecept does not carrie over the tempStr of totalcost, totalexpense and totalprofit onto the second page of the report....it only calculates the few entrys on the second page..

I created a button instead of the print button in crystal report because i need to record the report printed report serial number, date and time to the database. when i click on the button, dialog box appear. if i click on the ok button , system record the printed report details to the database and report printed successfully. but when i click on the cancel button , system again recording the printed report record.

The following VB line, where _DSversionInfo is a DataSet, returns no rows:
_DSversionInfo.Tables("VersionInfo").Select("FileID=88")
But inspection shows that the table contains rows with FileID's of 92, 93, 94, 90, 88, 89, 215, 216. The table columns are all of type string.
Further investigation showed that using the ID of 88, 215 and 216 will only return rows if the number is quoted.
i.e. _DSversionInfo.Tables("VersionInfo").Select("FileID='88'")
All other rows work regardless of whether the number is quoted or not. I understand that the numbers should be quoted just not why some work and others don't?

I'm working through a programming project, which should be quite easy but im stuck right at the start (relatively new to VB). I have a textbox (named textbox1) and a checkbox next to it. I want the checkbox to be ticked (.checked) when ever the value in the textbox is between 1 and 100, the checkbox to not be ticked when theres nothing in there, and for it not to be ticked when the value is < 1 and > 100. Figured a case statement would be the easiest. (this piece of code is just a validation check, basically in the real thing the user would have to enter in a value between 1 and a given number, and need to tell the user if that value is valid).

But what happens is, if I enter in the value 1 in the textbox, the checkbox becomes ticked, as it should. It tick with any values between 2 and 99 (any number not starting with 1) but the checkbox becomes ticked again when the value is 100. For any other range, say 1 to 70, the checkbox would be ticked if the value in the textbox is 1 to 7, or any number starting with 1 or 7, but not 8 or 9, or any number starting with 8 or 9.

Now the only way that I end up with the correct Row index is if I left click the cell or row first, then right click. But using the code to select the row on a right click, for some reason doesn't set the CurrentRow.Index to what is actually selected.

1: Created a GroupBox
2: Put a DateTimePicker in the GroupBox
3: Put TextBoxs in the GroupBox

View 2 RepliesI have a select statement which was returning the required values but when I changed the OS date from English(US) to English(UK), it now returns null. I believe the problem is concerned with date since in the query am selecting values where the date from the database is the same as the date in a combobox but I don't know what else I can do. It almost looks like the dates in the combox and in the database are not the same and yet the date in the combobox is actually retrieved from the database and has been returning values fine until I changed the system date format.Here's my select command:

The Now() function in VB.NET returns date and time which is different from the system time that I see on the right-bottom on the notification bar. It is 15 hours slower than the system time. Has anyone ever met this problem? I'm using .NET 2.0.
View 2 RepliesI have an error when converting a text string to date, I've tried all the date conversions I can think of and still get the same error (cdate, date.parse and Convert.ToDateTime) this happens after I export an RDLC report to a PDF. As you can see in the below code, there are 2 identical variables called newDate1 and newDate2, one being declared before the render and the other being declared after the render. The first one works no problem but the second one I get the error: Conversion from string "16/02/2011" to type 'date' is not valid. This now becomes a program wide error and affects every date conversion done in the program, this problem remains until the program is restarted.
In short: CDate converts MM/DD/YYYY no problem, but after a PDF export it tries to convert to DD/MM/YYYY which gives an error

Usually we can open a bitmap using this[code...]
the following code however keeps the Image File locked until the application is running, any suggestions how to dispose it properly. (So that no handle is left open )
