The problem I have here seems to me that the comparison between is crop_year =? where ? is the placeholder for Convert.ToInt32(cyrNote.SelectedItem.Trim) which is a value i get from a combobox cyrNote and try to convert it to an integer using Convert.ToInt32() so that it can be compared with the database value crop_year which is defined as integer in the database.
The problem here though is that the select returns null. I tried to replace the placeholder ? with a known value like "2011" and it returned a value. This means to me that my comparison crop_year=Convert.ToInt32(cyrNote.SelectedItem.Trim) is negative yet I expect something positive. I've tried to google on how to convert to integer and that is the best I could get.
In VB6, Something.SetFocus sets the focus to that Something. No problems there - in .Net it's called .Focus.On another thread I was told (twice!) to use Something.Select in a particular scenario (which works fine by the way).

I have a datagrid control with a list of names that it retrieves from a MySql database. I can search through them until i have one result. I want to be able to Display a groupbox control when the number of results is equal to 1. Also, in the groupbox i have a button that when clicked will delete this user from the server and their information from the mysql table called "employee". when the user is deleted i'll display a confirmation message in a messagebox, and reload the table with the updated list. so far the only two problems i have are showing the groupbox when the results are equal to 1 and deleting the user from the sql server based on the name of the search result
