View 5 RepliesI am trying to call back to a code behind method using Javascript and it seems like the only way to do so is using the Page.ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptBlock() don't need to return any data back to the calling javascript function.
View 1 RepliesCan I send an object from client-side javascript to server-side code via ASP.NET ?
View 5 RepliesI want to redirect to some page with querystring,and the querystring value should be in encrypted format and i want to decrypt that in codebehind
example:
function redirect(s, e) { window.location.href = "Default2.aspx?Id=" + encrypt(5)+ "&No=" +encrypt( 5);}
and in codebehind:
Dim id As String = Request.QueryString("Id").ToString()
id = Decode(id)
Dim no As String = Request.QueryString("No").ToString()
no= Decode(no)
[Code]....
Now as you can see it is sending the textbox1 text and then pressing enter then sending textbox2 text! Theres quite a few problems in that but before i discuss note: This code is in a Timer. Problem #1: It does not send the keys fully correct all the time because its trying to send them all at once! So i want it to send them 1 letter after the other with 200 ms sleep in them! Problem #2: The sleep is not working: The reason i know is because even after it did the first textbox1 text it didnt wait that 2000 ms!
I am trying to print (to a text file) the fragmentation information give by Win32_Volume class using the DefragAnalysis method and have come up with the following VB.NET code:
Dim objReader As StreamWriter
objReader = New StreamWriter(FolderBrowserDialog.SelectedPath + "FragInfo" + "_" + CreationDate + ".txt")
Dim colItemsFragInfo As New ManagementObjectSearcher("rootCIMV2", "Select * from Win32_Volume where DriveType = 3")
[code]....
You do not need to defragment this volume.However executing this in Visual Studio returns the below:
Volume size: MB
Cluster size: MB
You do not need to defragment this volume.The point here is though it does NOT work under Windows Server 2008 R2, but does work under Windows Server 2003 (when executed in Visual Studio), WMI Code will work regardless of platform.
NB: i have played with the "Console.WriteLine" and changed it to "Debug.WriteLine" to output value to immediate window.
I'm working with a VB.Net page which calls a web method from JavaScript, this was working upto a week ago and now for some reason is not working.
Firstly my page generates a list of items that can be clicked, The line that does this is:
TicketHTML = TicketHTML + "<td><img src='../images/delete.png' Class='imgTicketClose' alt='Delete Task' onclick='DeleteTicket(" + row("id").ToString() + ")' /></td></tr>"
I know this is working as when the item is clicked I get a javascript popup so I would assume the problem is not here.
Now my Javascript:
function DeleteTicket(ticketID)
{
var answer = confirm("Do you really want to delete this task?")
[Code].....
EDIT: Could anything in the web.config file be preventing page methods from executing? I have just noticed this happening with a completely seperate web method and have checked the integers being passed into the javascript with an alert() and they are all valid
What I am looking for is using a URL link such as [URL] to open my application and read the params using GET. I do not want to use the click once method to do this, because I want the application to load up without the starting up bar at the topleft. I know it could be done but I could not find anywhere to do it at. You can see an example used over at curse.com where they use a link like [URL] to launch their app and download the item. Another example is with Ventrilo where you can use [URL] links to start vent and connect to a server. The reason I want this is because I plan to use it to give my customers a way to give their clients a way to connect to their servers with my software using a simple URL.

View 2 RepliesI am writing a alternative to GDI, and rigth now i am working at a logging function. The idea is that while you use the class to draw, it will write a logg of what you have done, which can be used to draw it back later. In that way i would be able to store a drawing with weary little disk usage.

How would I go about passing parameters to a method? I would want to do the following:
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
ReceivingUdpClient = New System.Net.Sockets.UdpClient(6767)
Dim receiveBytes As [Byte]() = ReceivingUdpClient.Receive(RemoteIpEndPoint)
Dim ThreadReceive As New System.Threading.Thread(AddressOf receiveMessages(receiveBytes))
ThreadReceive.Start()
End Sub
Private Sub receiveMessages(ByVal receiveBytes As Byte())
'INSERT CODE

I have a asp.net web application with jquery controls. I have a datagrid that will display data from a database table and created a WCF Service to access the db and return the data. I want to be able to call the WCF service from this application which is on a different server and have the xml data returned, converted to json format to be used in the datagrid which is a jquery widget. I have tested the web service and it works fine. Should I call the web service from the javascript function within the xml or create a .net method behind that calls the service and then does the conversion? From these how would I get started?
View 1 RepliesIm struggling to get a web method to work in VB. The javascript gets called but never seems to call the web method. I am running in debug mode and get no errors.

I have an application with forms (VS2008) that prints a document, well, if I pass parameters in the command line like "C:MyApp.Exe Param1 Param2 Param3" I don't want the application to show the forms, this is:
-When passing parameters run as hidden
-When not passing parameters (like click with the mouse on the desktop) then show the forms
I've tried to use Sub Main but it just doesn't work
I have the an ASCII message of SNMP traps, how can i sent it to different IP address? i dont want to use email instead. Given a IP address and the port, of that receiver machine. tell me the solution or where can i get references to the command at least. coz i could find anything regarding it.
View 2 RepliesI have an inline lambda expression that I would like to use throughout my application. I just can't seem to find a reference on how to do this with more parameters than the element being tested. Here is a quick example of what I currently have.
Private Sub Test()
Dim List As New List(Of String) From {"Joe", "Ken", "Bob", "John"}
Dim Search As String = "*Jo*"

Is there a way to create a method with unknown number of parameters? And if it this the case: How is it possible to get access to them within this method? Do they have to be from the same type?
View 1 RepliesI have the following test method (VB.NET)
<RowTest()> _
<Row(1, 2, 3)> _
Public Sub AddMultipleNumbers(ByVal number1 As Integer, ByVal number2 As Integer, ByVal result As Integer)
Dim dvbc As VbClass = New VbClass()
Dim actual As Integer = dvbc.Add(number1, number2)
Assert.That(actual, [Is].SameAs(result))
End Sub
My problem is that when the test runs, using TestDriven.Net, the three method parameters are 0 and not the values I am expecting. I have referenced the NUnit.Framework (v.2.5.3.9345) anf the NUnitExtension.RowTest (v.1.2.3.0).
I was familiar with the optional parameters in vb 6 and it made sense given the capabilities of the language but why the heck does VB.Net support optional parameters when there is method overloading? Which one should I use and is there a difference? If there is a difference when should I use each one?
View 4 RepliesA friend in work suggested the use on classe to store the parameters BEFORE call a method. He's said this is called "Abstract Class". My "know how" of VB.NET is small... so, I want to know of you what mode is the best way: Call a function/sub like that:

I'm using Jmchillney's formless tray application and I want to pass some parameters into it using some other application I have. Then I want the formless tray application to do some work with these inputs. How can I pass into an executable parameters from another executable? I want to send some parameters from Application A to Application B. If app B doesn't exist I want it result in an error message the app A to display an error message. If app B does exist, it will do some work with the parameters and return a result back to app A and that's it.

I have a COM component that I want to call using late-binding from VB.NET (using Primary Interop Assembly - PIA method). My IDL signature for the COM method looks like:
HRESULT Send([in]BSTR bstrRequestData,
[out]VARIANT *pvbstrResponseData,
[out]VARIANT *pvnExtCompCode,
[out,retval]int *pnCompletionCode);
So 2 'ByRef' parameters in VB.NET lingo, and a return value. I attempt to invoke this method like so:
Dim parameters(2) As Object
parameters(0) = "data"
parameters(1) = New Object()
parameters(2) = New Object()
Dim p As New ParameterModifier(3)
[Code] .....
This fails spectactularly with an exception: {"Invalid callee. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80020010 (DISP_E_BADCALLEE))"}
I assume this means I'm doing something wrong in my parameterMods array. Because if I comment out setting any value of the ParameterMods array to 'True' - it works. It of course doesnt update the parameters that are [out] parameters and so it's not working as intended. Is there something else to consider since the method also has a return value? The MSDN example pretty much does exactly what I am doing, with the exception that example did not have a return value.
i am asking that can i use c# language to implement "actions" fired on "click side events" such as mouse over the reason for this stupid question is that i remember some syntax of registering functions for particular events of formview, which are call when the event occurs (yes there ispostback involved" is something like the above possible for client side events using c# or even vb.net
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Label3.Text = "this is label three";

For example, assume that in my assembly, in Namespace A, Class B, there is an instance method with the following signature: void Test(string someString, int someOtherParm, string someOtherString ); This method is called multiple times, from multiple places in the assembly. I would like to be able build a list of all invocations of this method and the value of the someString/someOtherString (assuming they are hardcoded). In other words, I like to extract a list of calls like the example one below, if they happen in the assembly somewhere: Test("some text", 8, "some other text");
