Send/receive Messages Via RS232 From Programme?
Jul 14, 2010
how to send/receive messages via RS232 from my programme. I have a USB-serial adaptor
Can anyone recommend any places to look? Is this something that you would expect would be fairly easy to do for someone with a few months of coding practice?

I have downloaded the vb script and it works as it should, its a program where you have some buttons so that you could trigger the relays. But i need several small scripts, one for each relay on / off so that i can call them from a .bat file with argument.i have a .bat named relaycard and in thet i have created argument like
relay1on
relay1off
relay2on
relay2off
and so on.
The small program relay1on should just do the jobb and then close itself.Maybe its a little bit clearer now.On the link that i posted there is a manual and even links to the vb program,

I've looked around at pretty much all the SMS posts here on SO and the best answer I've come up with so far is ZeepMobile. The only problem is, they're "in beta" and aren't readily accepting users. Is there a workaround for this, maybe receiving an email via text (kind of like how TwitPic does it?) somehow and parsing it?

The users cant receive incoming messages unless they portforward port 1337 to their computer... How can I get users to receive messages without portforwarding?

I am looking to create a VB 2008 Express programme which converts a data stream from a picoscope muscle sensor into a power output board which controls a mechanism. In simple terms when the Muscle sensor reaches a value of 0.8 V or higher I want the programme to send a text file to the power output control programme, and likewise when the sensor is below 0.2 V I want the power to be zero.
So 0.8 V > = send text file (0O=100%)
0.2 V < = send text file (0O=0%)
so when muscles being senced move the device turns on and off.I think I am successfully getting the data stream from the Picoscope which is plugged in the usb. I am using codes and examples that the programming guide for the device provided.here is a quick snap shot of the code (ps2000 is the driver used for the device)
ps2000_open_unit()
ps2000_set_channel(ps2000_handle, 0, 0, 0, 1)
ps2000_run_streaming(ps2000_handle, 250, 1000, 0)[code].....
how to get the data to be displayed or how to tell the programme to do something with the data. The device also came with an example of how it can record data to an excel sheet if anyone needs the code to gain a better understanding.

I am doing wrong? I am using VB2008/VB.NET to send a command (set to 4 volts) to a Tenma DC Power Supply over an RS232 cable. I don't have documentation from Tenma that lists the commands that the instrument understands, I got "VOLT040" from a program in an older version of VB that someone else wrote for this instrument. The code is below:

I'm using the TcpClient and TcpListener classes to read/write to the network when a request comes in on port 25. All I'm trying to do at the moment is make it so that my server program can receive SMTP messages from other SMTP servers. I've tested in Telnet - if I connect to my own IP on port 25 and type EHLO, MAIL FROM, RCPT TO, DATA etc then all works as it should and the details I entered are logged by the program (it doesnt do anything about delivering these details/email yet).all looks good... but then when I try and just send an email to my domain from my work account I can see that a connection is made to my program and the string "EHLO workdomain.com " is received by my program - my program responds to the remote SMTP server with "250-mydomain.com Hello" and then a CrLF and then "250-OK". After that point however, my app does not receive anything further at all from the server at work. I'm guessing I am doing something wrong with the data I'm returning when it sends EHLO but can anyone point me in the correct direction?
I was using telnet to test with, it seems that I have made it work only with telnet. In telnet each time I type a key the data is passed to the server, however with a real SMTP server it just sends each entire command in one go. So after altering my server a little I can now get it to respond with the 250-OK which I thought it already was doing.. but it still doesnt work. The remote server just sends EHLO and then thats it nothing more.Something interesting, at the moment I am ending all of my responses to the remote server with VbLf - if I change this to VbCrLf (which is what I believe it is meant to be according to the SMTP standard) then I get an infinite amount of empty strings sent to my program (or perhaps some other character that just shows as an empty string in intellisense when stepping through the code). Changing it back to just vbLf or ControlChars.Lf makes it go back to just sending EHLO and then nothing else..

I need to send string messages between applications (many clients and one server). When I tried using PostMessage/WndProc, then my message got split up in strange portions [URL]. So that was a no go.Second I tried using Pipes, but couldn't make it work with multiple clients.Third I tried using TCPIP, but couldn't make that work too.

I want to send an SMS message to many people. I have the person type and phone number for each person in a MySQL table. Using a stored procedure, I am calling a stored procedure in the database to get a list of phone numbers for all the people of a particular type and store it in a DataTable object. I have one URL that I need to use to send all the messages for all the people of that same type. The variable s in the below code is the person type which comes from a drop-down control[code]...
How do I loop through the resulting DataTable and send the SMS message to each one using the URL? The variable dt has the list of phone numbers for the people who match the type stored in s. Please help me solve this problem. I am new to VB.NET.

I've got a curious problem that I can't crack. I have 2 applications, app A and app B. Application A runs continuously doing various things. On the same machine I have application B that runs infrequently at random. I need for application B to tell application A to do something. Both are vb.net apps that I've written and can tweak to make this work. I can't figure out how to get app B to communicate with app A while app A is already running?

i've been wanting to do this for a few years now and it amazes me that no one can come up with a solution.i want to write a program (preferably in vb.net) that can send a message to another computer (or device) that is connected to the same network as me. I want the message to appear on the other computer (or device) in a popup message box. Also, it would be ideal if this could be done through some sort of bluetooth connection, if not then local ip connection will do. I don't know how i would go about doing this but i know it's possible because i've seen some programs do it... in fact i've seen a program called blackrain that without any additional software installed, can display messages on an ipod touch screen to instruct the yser what to do, and then display the results from their input on the computer screen, almost instantly. I would like to know how that works as well if anyone has any thoughts please feel free to share them!
