Show A Query Alias In Column?

I am using a databound datagridview control. I created a custom query to fill the grid with which includes joins and using alias names in the sql query for the joined fields. Here is the query I am using:
SELECT Events.[Date], Events.[Time], Contacts.LastName AS Lastname, Contacts.FirstName AS Firstname
FROM (Events INNER JOIN
Contacts ON Events.ContactID = Contacts.ContactID)
The datagrid views fine using the columns that are in the events table. I want to be able to view the aliased columns from the contacts table in the datagridview as well.
How can I display the joined columns in the datagridview? Maybe there is a better way to do this? Maybe this is not enough information for a resolution.

I am using a query in vb.net, database is Access. I need alias of query like sql but the query return me column alias and also ' '
SELECT COLUMN1 AS 'FIRST NAME'
I expect the result to be a field called FIRST NAME but it returns the string "FIRST NAME". Is there is any way if return me the field FIRST NAME instead of "FIRST NAME".

When I want to view already made bookings using datagridview and by implementing dataadapter and dataset...When the table is shown in the datagridview I want custom column names to be shown so tell me that how can i use alias in the query given in datadapter initialization part?

Am using the Entity Framework and Columns Completed and Taken are of bit Datatype. When the query results are displayed in the datagridview, these bit columns are returned as of ColumnType Textbox - so i get a Datagridview textbox column with true or false string values.
I want to display Completed and Taken as Checkbox columns (either ticked for True or un-ticked for false) but ofcourse i can't do this in EditColumn dialogue because the Datagridview is unbound.
how can i change this in code at runtime

i populate a datatable from a join query.i have one table called GameSheetTx which has 5 bit columns for days monday to friday.now when I want to create a new GameSheet I cant join to GameSheetTx as there will be no records for the Parent GameSheet. I still want 5 columns in my datatable for day1 to day5.how can i change this query to show 5 bt columns: [code] also how can i set the rowstate to datarow.Added for all rows in the datatable.

I have an enum in one module that's used in another that has a long name:

When I use it, I'd like to alias it to a shorter name like:

instead of
Enumwithaverylongname.foo
Can I do that?

I have an object and I iterate over object's properties. Foreach property, i append it as a column to a listview.
In my object, some properties doesn't have accents. But in portuguese, they do. For example: "Endereco" property must be "Endereo".

I am assigning the class object to grid's data source. And grid displaying all the properties of class with values. But i do not want to display the original name of properties of class. Is there any way to provide set alias name to property to display in grid?
I know that it can be possible by setting the grid's column caption. But i want to do it at class level or by other way instead of processing on Grid. Is there any attribute that set alias name to property?

The data type for my DATE column in SQL is smalldatetime. I want to perform a query which selects records based on the the selected date of a calendar object.
A user clicks on the date and the date is stored in ddlfilter2 DDLfilter2.Items.Add(CalendarMain.SelectedDate)
mystring = "SELECT * FROM view_main where date" & "='" & DDLFilter2.Text & "'"
produces this "select * from view_main where date='24/03/2009'
I then get an error saying "The conversion of char data type to smalldatetime data type resulted in an out-of-range smalldatetime value."
In the SQL database the data is displayed as "24/03/2009 00:00:00" is this why the query is failing?

I am using VB.NET to query via SQL an Excel spreadsheet using ADO. The general way is like this: SELECT [firstname], [secondname] FROM [Sheet1$] Which works perfectly
However, one of the headings is called 3, so I want to do: SELECT [firstname], [secondname], [3] FROM [Sheet1$] However, this does not work. I know I can use * to get all columns, but later on I want to use (using dataReader): dr("3") which won't work

i have a small ListView in my form. The have only 2 Columns (Datum) and (Anzahl). When i fill the ListView the first Column is not filled, only the second Column (Anzahl) is filled with "Datum". How can i get the "Datum" in the Datum-Column?

I uses datagridview for show query results from database which may have 0 to x number of rows. So I made calculation to calculate size of underlaying form and my datagridview dependable on number of matched rows. Underlying form is transparent and all of that looks like user control what appears and works just fine. But here is one issue: Every time datagrid have to grow, black square in that area is showed before datagrid is filled, what is not nice and surely unwanted. Did datagridview have some mechanism to freeze it and show data when populating is finished?

I have not come across the Alias term before but I can guess what it does. What I am unsure of is the reasoning behind overloading the alias. If that is what is happening.I need to create overloads for the TmSendByLen function as the 'As Any' is not supported in VB.net so I am not sure if I should just remove the alias or if I should leave it in place.
