I m working on vb.net ado.net oledb, I have also added datagrid Control to my form
for retriving database from .Mdb file i used following code

how to move current record in datagrid, i mean when i press Next record button then datagrid's data (table) also should move to next record or when i click any record in datagrid, then the current record of dataset also should move to clicked record of datagrid, so that i also may see datagrid's clicked record in textboxes in short i want to use default feature of vb6's ado control, when we bind datagrid with ado control, it worked autometically, both data grid and adodc wer connected each other at a time, so that moving next record also apears in datagrid.

How do I force users to save the current record (if current record has changed) and not let user go to the next record unless the save button is pressed?

Visual Studio Pro 2010 Win 7 64 bit running bootstrapped to a MacBook Pro i5 (blasphemer!!!) works really well though!!New to vb.net, have used vb6 for several years and finding the transition interesting to say the least.I have an access database with a vb.net front end all auto bound by the connection and binding wizards (I know, I know...) Not too complicated, but a simple 2 table related db. On the form the parent table shows customer details with the child table related and displayed by datagrid. I have a field in the child table for images and I have figured out how to store and retrieve images to the db. I am using the datagrid.rowheadermouseclick event to reload the picturebox on the main form as I click down the child table datagrid. Now I need to be able to click the bindingnavigator, go to the next record and have the program reload the image for the next child record. The problem is I'm trying to use an event from either the datagrid or bindingnavigator to reload the picturebox in the child table after moving to the next record, but all of the events I am trying are firing before the next record is moved to and therefor the logic I'm using to retrieve the image from the db is not working.
Anyone with an idea on how to move to the next record and then run my logic to populate the picturebox? What events might I use that fire after the next record has been populated? I know this is probably not that hard, but I have been racking my brain all day now.

It is times like these that I miss the old VB6 language I wish I could hide the current forn and show another form which - this is the important thing - to be on the same level that the previous form was . You see , I used to use this code :
Me.Hide Form2.Show However , sometimes in VB .NET this does not work the way I want it to . You see , the current form does get hidden and Form2 is shown indeed ; however , Form2 is shown somewhere in the background . If there are other programs opened at that time , then Form2 is shown behind all those programs , that's what I mean by saying I want it to be shown in the same level as the previous form was the only way out , I found , was to reverse the code :
Form2.Show Me.Hide In this way Form2 is successfully shown right where the previous form was shown (above the other programs) but in some cases this also is not pleasant because it might take some time for Form2 to load while at the same time the previous form is still visible on the screen and therefore for a slight time both forms are shown one over the other , which is surely not nice . That's why I still want to first hide the first form and later show Form2 .

When debugging in the old VS 2008 with the program stopped at a breakpoint, I could hover over a variable, say a string, and the value of that string would appear in a little box by the mouse pointer. In visual studio 2010 beta 2 this doesn't appear to happen.Is it a feature that needs 'turning on' somehow?I've tried debugging in 64 bit mode and x86 mode, neither works.

Why would this code - that loads lots of VENDORS into this dataset - only show "1 of (1)" on the binding navigator?

Using Visual Basic 2010 Express on Windows 7 whilst learning to program a database application using windows forms. I created a database (.mdf I think) with a tables e.g. patient details. Then created a form and dragged dataset and database adapter follwed by dragging database fields - this all worked perfectly well. I then created a table "tblSuburbs" with key suburbID, suburb, postcode fields. This also went well when creating a form to add, modify or delete suburbs. I modified my Patient table to include a link to the Suburb table - creating a relationship and saving both tables. Here comes my problem - Whilst the Database Explorer shows the "_SuburbID" field I added to my patient table, it does not show up in the DataSet even after I try and "refresh" every "refresh" button I can find. I need the DataSet to show the link field as I need the User to select which Suburb they in.

I'm a bit of a newbie and am trying to delete the current record on a form. next record, previous record is easy. i just write the following Me.CustomerBindingSource.MoveNext()
How come there is no "Delete" method available? such as:Me.CustomerBindingSource.Delete()

I am trying to run a routine to load a gridview from a sql table. I would like a progress meter to run until the grid is loaded. I have tried using the background worker component...but I havent found a really basic example of how to run the progress meter on the uiwhile loading the grid in the dowork event.. is this as intricate as it looks? I just have the meter tied to the tick event of a timer

I am returning to programming after a long absence (last real work done in VB5.0). I'm trying to do a small customer management project. I'm starting off with a DataGridView on one form showing a reduced number of fields. When the customer is selected a second form gives the full details. I struggling to find a clean way of passing the selected record to the second form. Both forms are using the same dataset.

Visual basic 2010. I am having a problem with updating on a DataGridView that has me confused.
I have a DataGridView on the first tab page that is displaying data in a DataTable.
On the second tab I am updating the current record on the DataGridView.
The text fields on the second tab are bound to the DataTable in the following manner
rnameTxt.DataBindings.Add(New Binding("Text", TableData, "rname", True))
When I move to the second tab the correct data appears in the text fields.
When I modify a field on the second tab the modified data appears in the DataGridView, on the first tab page. But when I check for changes in the DataTable in the following manner
Dim ModifiedRows As DataTable = TableData.GetChanges() I do not see the modified row - i.e. ModifiedRows = Nothing? Why is the modification not being identified???

I'm working in VS 2008, vb.net. I have a data grid that is getting filled based on a store procedure. When I preview the datagrid, I will get 29 rows back. This includes rows that have NULL values in it. And that's what I need. But when I run the program, it will only return in the Datagrid 12 rows, the rows that don'r have any NULL values. Where or how can I change it so the DataGrid will show NULL values?

I have a database and I was thinking about using either a List Box or Data Grid to show the data. Is there is another way of showing the data? Also, when the user 'double-clicks' on the data in the List Box or Data Grid then I would like the information to come up in a new form. I know how to show a new form but I don't know how to get the information from the one that has been clicked.
