Splitting Text From A TextBox Into An Array?

Sep 6, 2010

Im writing a program where im trying to split some text imported from a textfile into a textbox into an array. The array is undefined and i would like each piece of text to be an element in the array. I would then like to sort this information into alphabetical order. This is the code I have at present; I apologise if any appears to be out of sequence or whatever, VB is a rather puzzling language to myself!

Dim textInput As String

Splitting Data Read From A Text File?

Jan 10, 2012

I am exporting a directory list from a FTP directory to a text file, I would like any suggestions how best to read and split the information detailed on each row in the text file as information isn't Tab Delimited (which i have code for if it was) and the number of spaces between each attribute is different. Below is a snippet of the text file, the main two I require is the File Size and the Filename.

Arrays :: Weird Results When Splitting Strings?

May 5, 2012

I was getting weird results when doing multiple splits on a string, so I decided to make a simple test to figure out what was going ontestString "1234567891011121314151617181920"If I wanted to get whats between 10 to 20 in Javascript I would do this:var results = testString.split("10")[1].split("20")[0]Which would return 111213141516171819However when I do this in VB I get 111Split(testString,"10")(1).Split("20")(0)It seems the 2nd split is only recognizing the first character no matter what I put.

Compare Textbox Text To Strings In List?

Jun 10, 2009

I've build a list of Strings from files. The list itself is working fine (tried it by having ListBoxes and other controls loading its items from there just to make sure that this is not the issue). Now, I am using this list of strings to compare a Text in a TextBox1 while typing to determine if this TextBox1.Text already exists in the list. I am using the following code (where "s" stands for my List items):

Private Sub TextBox1_TextChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TextBox1.TextChanged
If TextBox1.TextLength < "1" Then
Button6.Enabled = False

Splitting Strings - Keep ONLY The Part That Contains The "h"

As an example, I download the source off this site : click here, and I want to keep ONLY the part that contains the "h" : "d80ad7c4f008cfa3ca4c9004b057346a" }; (Note, I don't want the code to be working only for this page, in other pages the number after :h: is randomized). I've tried a couple of methods using regex but couldn't actually succeed.

Input Data To Windows Pgm From Text File?

Sep 29, 2009

I need to get data from a text or excel file and input it into a windows program that I do not have source code for and cannot get it.What I am trying to do is get sales order data from one of our customers in a file and then read the file and input the order information into our sales order system by actually stepping through the order entry process so all the checks for item #'s, zip codes, etc that are already in the sales order entry software are utilized, basically so that data files integrity is maintained.

I am very green when it comes to programming, can anyone tell me if this can be done using vb.net or should I look into using another programming language.
