Jan 1, 2012
how do i code this. my textbox length is 5 and i input only 2 numbers and i want it to save in textfile as 5 Digit ex. i input 2 number in textbox and should be save it as 00012 how can i code this?
I have text in a textbox that I want to write to a file. I'm trying to think of the best way to do this. Would reading the text into a buffer, then writing the buffer to a file be the best approach? I'm sure there's more than one way of doing this and I wanted to see if anyone had any input on the most efficient way.
Is there a simple way to save user input from MANY controls (textboxes, comboboxes, etc...) to a text file? When I say 'MANY', I am referring to at least 580 textboxes and several dozen comboboxes.
I may be able to accomplish this using the StreamWriter Class, but doing this individually would take quite a long time. I suppose I could also change all text boxes to richTextBoxes and save to .rtf. It seems like this would be even more time consuming.
Surely there is a simpler way to do this 'globally', perhaps with an added single line of code that points (and saves) to a preset or created text.txt file whenever text is added or changed in a textbox or combobox throughout the program.
I am currently working on a flatfile based database, meaning: all database records are saved in single files in a data folder of my main application. So far everything works fine except for one thing:
Each record gets currently saved as file under its item name. This sometimes causes problems because some item names contain special characters which can't be used as a file name. What I would like is the following: Whenever I 'add a record' to my database it should be saved in a file with a 4 to 6 digit number as file name - to keep things simple I just ignore the file extension for now.
For example, I add a new record with the ITEM NAME Flower "Blue River" #1 - I won't be able to create the file because of the special characters in there! I would like that the program creates automatically a file in a 4 or 6 digit format (I haven't decided yet how many digits because I am not sure how many data records I will need one day, so, 4 digits will be enougth for now!), starting at 1000, so, the file I am creating is called 1000 + whatever extension I will give it later.
In addition, I would like that it checks for missing numbers in between when creating a 'new database record', meaning: I have already the folloing file names: 1000, 1001, 1002 and one day I delete the second record, so, 1001 would be available for the next new file / data record which I add to my database.
So far I've experimented with the GUID but the filenames I get out of it are just not in an 'eye pleasing' format. Would there be a way to give this GUID a special format or is there any other good way to accomplish that?
I am trying to figure out how to read a text file and check the value entered into a textbox to see if it already exists. Its basically a validation list.
I found some code on how to read a text file, but I do not know what to do with the information.
Sub Main() If RadioButton1.Focus = True Then 'Check TextBox1 value against list of known part numbers
[Code]...
How do I compare the textbox value to a line read from the file and stop if there is a match?
I have a problem with the code, I have input the valid username and password in the form textbox to input the strings in php, but it keep displaying the messagebox that says login failed.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click MessageBox.Show("Please enter your username") ElseIf Textbox2.Text = Nothing Then MessageBox.Show("Please enter your password") Else
[CODE]...
I don't really know why it keep displaying the messagebox that says it failed when I have input the valid strings in the first place.
I a very large text document, I need to read some lines and at the end of each line, insert a text from the header of each page to he preceding lines.I have the following code the reads the file and displays it on a list box.Public Class Dialogs..[code]
What is the easiest way to save txtbox text to .txt file? Ofc I also need to choose the folder Im saving the text file. And it is possible to save that text file "to that program" ? I mean if I wrote textfile and click a button (to save text) and restard whole application can the text be saved somehow? If this is impossible (or too hard for me^^) I also need help with loading that saved text file: By clicking button it will open that txt file I saved before. And then (In my opinion) the harder one: If I need to save more than a textbox text.. In my current program it would be good to save (by clicking button) at least labels' texts, numericUpDowns, checxboxs, etc (the data that user had given) from just one form. Not to save whole program, one form is enough. So how this? That file doesnt need to be able to read by another program (like word, excel, etc). And again, the same vice verca. I also need a button which opens that saved file. (And now my english skills came to end)but this button click must also "place the values".For example if I have clicked checkboxs 1, 2 and 4 -> saved file -> opened -> it must show those checkboxes as checked. The same with everything else too (labels, numerics..)
If my Category and Forum selection is incorrect I am sorry and feel free to move it. I'd like to have the users input in the message box that will show. For example: There is a textbox and the user puts in their name as Bob. Then the message box would be: What my main goal is, is being able to include the users input they type inside the textbox inside the message box.
I forgot VS 2008 I can add a textbox text to the listbox and save it to IO.File.AppendText (Application.StartupPath & "List.txt")but i cant get it to add with a openfiledialog , now the listbox allready hase text loaded in it , iam trying to add too it with openfiledialog
I am busy with a Project that need to read and write txt files. I have found noumeorous tutorials on how to work with txt files, but none of them explain or or have an example how to do the following:
1) I want to have a button that, when it's clicked, it browse the PC in a specific location for a txt file, and open it in a TextBox1
2) I want to have a button that save text in a specific TextBox as a txt file, and you can name the txt file as you want?
trying to create some kind of function to save all the labels and buttons caption of all forms of my proyect to a txt file. tried taking one by one to this file but the fact is that they are too much and it would be a really long proccess to do it that way so im looking for some way to do it automaticallythe structure of the file would be:Name of the form - name of the control - caption
I have 3 TextBox control, 2 is for keyin data and 1 is for Display data,
[Code]...
What I want is to display combine input data from TextBox1.Text and TextBox2.Text to TextBox3.Text I mean keep any previous data input in same TextBox and saperate it using a comma (,) or (;) for combination I am using (@)
Example: In TextBox1.Text I put 200 and TextBox2.Text 2000... Click button Save and I want it to be display in TextBox3.Text as 200@2000 and again I Enter 500 in TextBox1.Text and 5000 in TextBox2.Text Click save button and I want it be display in TextBox3.Text as 200@2000;500@5000 which is 200@2000 is the first input data... and it continue as many as it can.
I just finished this application where you enter a five-digit credit card number, with the fifth digit being the check digit. everything seems to work except, I can't seem to get it to determine that any number is "valid". Every 5-digit combination that I enter returns "The credit card number is not valid". Im using visual basic 2008 express
I have two windows vb.net form. I got a text file. I am trying to encrypt some data and save it to a text file with the 1st windows vb.net 2005 form. Now with the second one am trying to decrypt the data and retrieve it here.
My objective is to, instead of entering in the data manually into the text boxes, I want to read in a textfile. The Calculate button will contain the code to read in the file and assign it to the appropriate textboxes. Save the separate file in the \bin\Debug folder.
The text file just needs to have 3 integers on 3 separate lines. The code I posted works without and errors, but.I am having some trouble integrating the Stream Reader.
I can get it to tell me if the ISBN I entered is valid or not, but there is a second part I need that I keep drawing blanks on. I need to be able to enter an ISBN with a missing digit marked by a "?" in the textbox i am entering the ISBN in. For those who don't know what an ISBN is it...
An ISBN (International Standard Book Number) is a ten digit code which uniquely identifies a book. The first nine digits represent the book and the last digit is used to make sure the ISBN is correct. To verify an ISBN you calculate 10 times the first digit, plus 9 times the second digit, plus 8 times the third ... all the way until you add 1 times the last digit. If the final number leaves no remainder when divided by 11 the code is a valid ISBN.
1.Write a program that reads a ten digit number and validates it.(DONE)
2.Write a program that reads in a valid ISBN with a single missing digit, marked with a ?, and outputs the correct value for the missing digit.(Ehhh....)[code]So i need help making it so i can input a ISBN with a missing digit marked by "?" and output a valid ISBN with missing digit.
Its a League Organizer, basicly ive started it off with 16 teams and end up with 1(winner) 16 box's on the far left, then 8, then 4, then 2, then 1. the 16 box's have "Team 1" "Team 2" etc... ive put a new/clear/open/save button in that order.
BUT this is my problem..when i save(Save Button) the text file saves all the text wrong it ends up like this...Team 1Team 2Team 3Team 4 Etc...
But i want it to save like this
Team 1 Team 2 Team 3 Team 4 Etc...
The code is...
Dim Save As New SaveFileDialog Save.Filter = "Text Files (*.txt)|*.txt|ALL FILES (*.*)|*.*"
tell me a way that i can save the stuff written in 3 text box (Name,Address,Bday) by using a command btn. And then finding all of their information by just entering Name using another button.
What I'm trying to do is make a list of members in a read only textbox getting the data from two textboxes (first and last name) and a 'save' button. I've made a class named 'Deltaker' (Members in english) to store data and a list 'resultater' (eng: results) using the 'Deltaker' class.
I'm trying to get user input from two textboxes 'tbxFornavn' and 'tbxEtternavn' and I use my class' public function 'Navn' to display it in the textbox 'tbxHistory'.
I've got a sub procedure to add the input to the list and clear the textboxes and enable another reset button.
So for the save button click event I run the sub procedure and I've written a for next loop to display the results from the list. The first name I enter is all good, but with the second name entry both the first and the second name gets listed as well as the first name that is already there. I thought about using the .clear function to clear the list after each input, but I also want to incorporate laptimes in the list and display the best time in a lable at the bottom of the form. Maybe also sort the list, so I need the data in the list to stay intact.
Public Class Form1 Dim resultater As New List(Of Deltaker) Private Sub AddDeltaker()
I am trying to bind a textbox to a binding source (using the IDE DataBindings Editor) and it works fine except for one thing: if I delete the text I get the subject error. What I want to happen is the datarecord field be updated to a dbnull value -- how do I get that to happen?
