Multiple Data Tables Vs One Grand Data Table
Jan 25, 2011if it affects the run time of a program if I were to have multiple data tables as opposed to one data table with all my data in it? I am trying to minimize datagrids and just use code to access table data, in hopes that it will speed up my program. But I am ignorant if multiple tables vs 1 main table will make a difference because there will still be the same amount of overall data present in my program one way or the other....?

Feb 13, 2011I have looked at the answers in the forum and some seem dated. I an an old vb2 person and need to move up. I understand sql very well and use complex queries. First test project and trying to add multiple tables to a data grid (Only Form in project).I used the Data wizard to add the Access data base and worked by way through to near the end. The query works in the wizard and returns the correct rows. The error message is "The solution returned by the new query differs from the base query."
During the creation process I selected all the tables. Reading some of the old anwsers I get the inpression that VB 2010 does not handle multiple tables in a datagrid (forum items go back to version 2008).

Sep 12, 2011I have a vb.net web application and when a particular function runs , i get data timeouts in the rest of the application..(ie..row not found errors or column does not belong to table but it does) The function is adding multiple rows in multiple tables in the database and is running in a for loop. It seems to be all SQL related but I am not seeing anything in the error logs in SQL or in the application Right now I am assuming it is memory related where to start note..the for loop will be replaced with a bulk insert but right now I jest need to resolve the issue of the timeouts

Jul 25, 2012I am using VS2008 and SQLite. I have created a database and several tables and am attempting to populate the tables with data from arrays.
The following code (example) works fine but stops after it inserts 30 to 50 records. I am running the VB code in debug mode and when it stops, I press pause to see where it is. It stops on "SQLcommand.ExecuteNonQuery()" and when I press continue (F5) it will insert another 30 to 50 records.
I do not get an error message. Is this a timeout issue? How do I keep the loop running to the end of the array?

May 2, 2012Using Visual Basic 2008 express, I would like to access a database with 2 tables, one table (useraccounts) which has Users and Password and ID, and the other table which has information (linktable). Basically I would like to do a login form which reads from the table useraccounts and be able to create new users which will write into the database.
Another is that I have a form with a number of links which I would like to store in the table 'linktable' and it basically just gets the links from the table and straight to the form where it is used. I have tried using access or the .mdf files that visual basic has but I have been unable to find an answer for either.
I wouldn't mind using either access or the .mdf file for the database, I would just like it to work. Overall I am trying to get:
Login form which reads from database table 'useraccounts' and has a new user feature
Just a form that can read / write to the database once the save button is clicked.
