Exporting Data From Multiple SQL Tables To Different Flat Files Using SSIS Script Task
Jun 2, 2011
I am trying to create a datagrid and export the contents to a text file using VB.NET and I am doing this inside an SSIS script task in order to automate the process to export a dynamic table to text file. I don't get any error and the files are created but the files are empty. [code]
I'm trying to convert a DTS package to an SSIS Package. My package contains a Data Flow task that pumps data from an OLE DB connection to a Flat File destination. The data in the flat file needs to be arranged in a certain way (eg: spacing), So how do I do that? Is there any data trasformation tool that will help me achieve this? If so how would it be done?THE DTS CODE (to put things in perspective)
How can I kill the excel.exe process in SSIS during the data flow task when it fails? There could be multiple instances of Excel.exe running from other packages that are perfectly valid so I don't want to loop through all instances killing them.My problem is that during the data flow task the process will sometimes fail due to a sheet that is named incorrectly or missing columns. This keeps an instance of excel.exe running which is now an orphan task eating up resources so it needs to be killed. At the same time there are other SSIS packages running that are accessing their own excel.exe process and aren't having any issues. So how can I kill the orphan excel.exe process without impacting the other excel.exe process?

I have a SSIS package that runs every 5min.My package has an error routine in the onError event handler but I don't want it to get in there. So in fact, the package should just exit / close / kill itself without any warning or error.Preferably this should be initiated by the script task (vb.net 2008)
I am using a VB script in SSIS Script Task to add header and Trailer to a flat file. The code was working fine until recently i came across a problem where the rows in the file are more than usual and resulting in a failure on script task with error`Error:
System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.OutOfMemoryException: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.
I have to read in several thousand lines of a EDI 4010 or 5010 formatted file into a database. This is medical claims data. In my current process I read each row of the file and parse it into a string array. I then assign each value of the array to a string variable and when I detect a new claim header or detail record I write the variables to the SQL server in a SQL insert statement. Example below
i wanted to add data from a single form in vb to two tables in access but an error appears saying that the field customer_ID down to Contact_Number doesnt belong to the table record, though it really doesnt belong to that table.. but i already indicated the table for the customer_ID down to Contact_Number, which is Customer, in my sql statement...

if it affects the run time of a program if I were to have multiple data tables as opposed to one data table with all my data in it? I am trying to minimize datagrids and just use code to access table data, in hopes that it will speed up my program. But I am ignorant if multiple tables vs 1 main table will make a difference because there will still be the same amount of overall data present in my program one way or the other....?

I'm an experienced Office & VBA programmer, I am new to .NET programming. I'm in the process of migrating an Access 2007 database application from Access to Visual Studio Visual Basic project for further development. In particular, I am interested in using .NET controls to display data in a user-friendly hierarchical grid control. The data for each hierarchical display is stored in two separate tables (I call them tblData and tblExtraInfo), and then I use a query to join the data and prepare for display (I call the query qryBOM).
I am combining data from multiple tables into one table for a presentation software. I am doing a select statement and running a loop. Inside that loop I have multiple selects and I build a datatable an enter the data into the main table. There is a ton of records and it takes forever.
