Sql - Updating Datatable To EXISTING Global Database Connection?

I am using Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 Express. I have a WPF-based project. I have a successful connection to a database in Database Explorer, and a working existing Data Source in Data Sources.
I created a datatable from the datasource using this code:
Dim roster_table As New DataTable("AGENT_ROSTER")
I can manipulate this datatable just fine, but I cannot figure out how to save its data to my database (agentroster.sdf) since the connection is on a global level, and isn't declared in this particular window.
How do I update this database from the datatable on this window?By the way, I tried creating a connection on this window's code, using the exact same connection string as the successful globally-connected database, yet it said that it couldn't connect.

I've inherited an application that uses a global database sqlconnection object in order to access the database from every form in the application. The connection is established when the application starts.I think to have the connection open all the time it's not good practice and I would prefer to change it so I would open the database connection and close it every time I need to access the database.

I send the SqlCommand object to the method instead of a query string because I can add parameters to an SqlCommand object.

I am working with VB.NET.. i have a DataTable called "QUESTION", containing 3 fields:
QuestionNumber (unique integer key)
QuestionText
QuestionType
In my SQL Server database I created a Table called "QUESTION" with the same fields.
QuestionNumber is defined as integer unique key, auto increment
Now, when i make a bulk copy to insert the DataTable into the SQL Server, the database overwrites my QuestionNumber from the DataTable and generates new ones (starting from 1 increment 1).
How do i have to change my database setup, that the original QuestionNumbers are copied into the database?

I've been browsing these forums for a day looking for the answer to this, so far nthing has fitted.I've got an access 2000-2003 database containing a whole pile of data for a VB coded application to use. One of the tables in the database needs to be able to be updated with data from the application.The new data is stored in the app as a datatable. I need to replace the original table in the Access file with the datatable in the App.
I'm changing as many as 60 values at a time, so defining these as parameters in an OleDbCommand would be impractical and frankly ridiculous.

I have a dynamic datatable, created from a database. I want to add a new row (blank), so there is an option to choose nothing in a combobx. Everything works ok without adding the new row. But when I add a new row, the combobox displays nothing. What am I missing?

I'm using VB.Net to create a windows form application. One form has a DataGridView that displays data from a SQLServer table via a TableAdapter and BindingSource whose filter is set as I need it. Elsewhere on the same form I would like to show totals for four columns of the same table, but from a totally different set of rows. All I've been able to figure out is to create another TableAdapter - but this seems foolish since the SQL table data has already been brought into my application by the first TableAdapter.Is there a way to run a query on the DataTable that was filled by the first TableAdapter, and how do I get the query results?

I am working with two different connections because the information I need is stored in two different locations. One being Oracle, the other being Access. I pull all the information I need from Access with the exception of one field which I pull from Oracle. When I add this field to my datatable, it adds it to the end. I am wanting the column that I add to be between column 1 and 2 of my current datatable. Anyone know the best way to do this? From what I could find, there wasn't a way to re-arrange columns. Each of these three tables are related by the AccountNo. On two of the tables I specify this field as a foreign key constraint with the appropriate cascading flags. I have a fat VB.NET Winform client that is using the an old asmx style web service. Very often, when I perform query that takes a while or pass a large amt of data to a web service in a dataset, I get the subject error.The error seems to occur in < 1 min, which is far less than the web service timeout value that I have set or the timeout value on the ADO Command object that is performing the query within the web server.It seems to occur whenever I am performing a large query that expects to return a lot of rows or when I am sending up a large amount of data to the web service. I have an application that copies a file from a network/internet location. I am trying to catch the exception for when the network connection becomes unavailable (or internet goes down). Currently i catch the exception "Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host." which occurs on the bold, underline line below.The issue i have is i try and attempt the operation to continue doing what it was doing by resetting variables and then reassigning them to continue reading the stream but cant get past this error. The only way to go past it is to stop and start the application which is not what im after. [code]

I have upgraded my VB app from VB to VB.NET and its working fine. Now, I want to convert my existing DB connection strings from ADODB to ADO.NET so that I dont have to use MS Access on every client which runs this app. Currently the VB app looks up into an Access db to get the server ip, username, password etc. I aim to hardcode these values so that I wouldn't need the Access db anymore. Below error is thrown in a already opened program which connects to different database
A transport-level error has occurred when sending the request to the server.
(provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.)
Program details: code done using vb.net with MSSQL 2008 as back-end
Two instance of same exe where running simultaneously in same PC but error was thrown only by one instance Program uses both sqlconnection(ADO.NET) and ADODB connection(upgraded from VB6) and the error is thrown by both types of connection. If the error is due to network problem with the server then why few programs work fine? I am not able to trace the reason for this behavior of the program. Can I know why this error occurs and why only in few programs of same instance.

I have a vb.net project where I have data loaded into a datatable in a dataset and have to do approximately 20 updates that are sql like. On this project, I don't have access to sql nor does the end user want to use any type of sql, sql express etc.
My question is, is there a generic way of doing this so I can reuse it. Was wondering if a dataview could be analgous to the "WHERE CLAUSE" and some type of delegate function could be the update function.

I have a little big problem in one application.
I have a datagridview with data from a datatable, this datatable have these fields (id,num1,num2, date,user,ref,qt,cost,center), some of them are hided in the dgv (id,num1,num2,date,user). The user can edit,delete and add new rows to the dgv.
I have a save button that performs this actions:
First check if there are new rows, and if yes it fill the hidden fields. Then validate the inserted values by the user with a couple of ifs. In the end, i call the bindingsource EndEdit, and call the adapter Update command against the datatable...
This sometimes works others not really, i don't understand why.
The error it's: "Concurrency violation: the DeleteCommand affected 0 of the expected 1 records"
I think sometimes when Updating it occurs to.
