C# - Codedom And String Handling?

Aug 14, 2010

I'm trying to see if Codedom can handle strings and concantination between different languages, without me setting up conditional strings per language.For example, I need to generate the following exactly as shown below in both C# and VB.NET via Codedom:

C#
errorMsg = errorMsg.Replace('"', ''').Replace("
", @"
");
System.Windows.Browser.HtmlPage.Window.Eval("throw new Error("Unhandled Error in Silverlight Application " + errorMsg + "");");

[code]....

The CodeMethodInvokeExpression for errorMsg.Replace and System.Windows.Browser.HtmlPage.Window.Eval is simple enough, it's the string inside them that I can't figure out if Codedom can automatically handle.

Handling DataRow Input String Was Not In A Correct Format For A Null Value?

I am looping through the rows of a DataRowCollection and assigning the fields of each row to a variable. I always get "Input string was not in a correct format" no matter how I cast this. I just need gapCd to contain 0 if the field is null or the value otherwise. It seems the IsDbNull is not returning true properly. I've also tried DbNull.Value comparisons with no l

Asp.net - Getting Table Field Names As A String?

Oct 28, 2011

I'm trying to get the list of field names for a given table, to turn them into a string which I can to post back as a variable to another function.I've Googled loads of stuff regarding GetSchemaTable but all I seem to be able to output are field parameters, but not the actual value of these parameters (ie ColumnName, which is the one I actually want!)

Found this page; What is the SQL command to return the field names of a table?But all the queries on there give me an error "You do not have access to Table 'Columns'"I feel sure this is pretty simple, can someone give me a little function that will simply give me fieldNames = "fieldName1, fieldName2, etc"I am using a MySQL server and ODBC connections ASP.NET using VB.

I have a Windows application that uses typed datasets. When setting up the datasets, Visual Studio asks if you want to remember the connection.

Before filling the dataset, I programatically change the connection string of each table adapter so that it will connect to the remote database. Before this operation, it is set to the local database since that is the one I am developing on.[code]...

Email A Datatable In Table Format Not String?

Dec 15, 2011

First I tried getting a SQL query into an array, and then mail it. Made the data incomprehendable. So someone told me to use CSS to build a table format, filling it with the array. A LOT of hard work (since I had to learn css all the way from "what is a css".

Then I was told "Array? why use array when DATATABLES are soooo much easier"

So here we go again. "What is a datatable, and how does it work"

Invalid Connection String When Using Table Adapter?

Jan 17, 2011

I'm trying to use variables in my connection string to a table adapter. The only clean cut method I've seen is the following, however, I'm getting "Invalid Connection string" upon run-time. I'm assuming maybe this can't be done?

Private Sub adaptertest_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
'TODO: This line of code loads data into the 'BCPM_DDBODataSet.LTC_FBS' table. You can move, or remove it, as needed.
LTC_FBSTableAdapter.Connection.ConnectionString = "Provider=TDOLEDB;Data Source=TDDEV;Persist Security Info=True;User ID={0};Password={1};Default Database=bcpm_ddbo;Session Mode=ANSI;"
Me.LTC_FBSTableAdapter.Fill(Me.BCPM_DDBODataSet.LTC_FBS)

Modify Connection String In Table Adapter?

Jan 14, 2011

Is this possible? Currently I'm using a login form that passes txt box values to string and then use as variables in the hand coded connection string (for each query) is there a way to use this with a table adapter? something similar to how access remembers your login credentials when accessing an ODBC table? I've tried editing the connection string in the config file, but says it's invalid every time. I'm only using the table adapter to populate my form after running a hand coded search query.

This is what i use for manual insert/update/delete query

Private sConStrFormat As String = "Provider=TDOLEDB;Data Source=TDDEV;Persist Security Info=True;User ID={0};Password={1};Default Database=bcpm_ddbo;Session Mode=ANSI;"

.net - Does Dataset.ReadXml() Set All Columns Datatype In Its Table As String

Aug 12, 2011

Following is the code which gets xml data from web service and then dataset reads using ReadXml method. This Xml has ID and MyDate tags for each table row (so table(0) will have ID and MyDate columns) and this Xml data does not have schema associated with it. When page is loaded first time, it sorts by ID in asc order. It was working until ID was 999. When next ID came as 1000, even in ID asc, 1000 is showing before 999 in datagrid.

I wanted to confirm that when dataset is loaded using ReadXml, all the columns in its table are treated as string even they are numbers or dates and that's why in ID asc order 1000 is coming before 999.

Also, MyDate tag has date in format "01/31/2011" (mm/dd/yyyy) and it seems that sorting is wroking fine for date. Would sorting by date always work even when dataset table MyDate column is of type string (assuming that my above statement is correct)? Are my two above assumptions correct?

stream = New System.IO.StringReader(XML data returned from web service)
With dataset
.ReadXml(stream)
dvView = .Tables(0).DefaultView
