I've been having fun with the xmldocument class recently but am struggling with namespaces. I've been trying (with some success) to merge parts of one XML file into another. The problem has been that one of them utilises a namespace on one of the interior nodes and therefore my xpath queries where failing when I tried to create a nodelist. This I fixed (after reading some great examples here) by adding a namespace manager and changing my query accordingly.
Everything looked fine initially and I appeared to end up with the desired effect, but the XML file that was created was failing in the target application. What I didn't realise at first (due to the length of the xml node values being wider than my screen!!) was that when I imported the nodes from one file to another, a blank names space was being added to the end of each node (xmlns="")
' load the xml template from the project resources
Dim fdf As New XmlDocument
fdf.LoadXml(My.Resources.fdf_template)
I need to read an xml document from a database record into an XDocument object in order for it to be deserialized. So that the deserialization will work, I need to apply a specific namespace to each of the level 1 elements. So XML looks a bit like this:
[Code]...
How do I prevent the blank/empty namespace being added to each child element of the element to which the required namespace has been applied?
I have an VS2008 solution with 2 projects, WebUI and Domain; WebUI references domain. The Root Namespace in the WebUI project is:MyCompany. MyProjectName.WebUI. The Root Namespace in the Domain project is blank. (Namespaces are manually declared for all classes). So everything has been working fine, until I tried to reference a class in Domain via a fully qualified path: [Code]
Does this make any sense? So, then I cleared my WebUI Root Namespace, and voila, the fully qualified declaration then does work. However, doing this then seemed to invalidate the registration of all my user controls on my pages. The only thing that seemed to solve this was in the codebehind of each user control, manually add a namespace of MyCompany.MyProjectName.WebUI. which might make sense as perhaps the namespaces of the pages somehow had still retained the root namespace value. But, if I was to create a brand new aspx page and drop a user control on (this is before manually adding the namespace), even that page couldn't properly register it. Yet, the user control properly rendered in design view. so the VS UI seemed to be able to properly resolve it, but the compiler seemingly can't.
So from what I can tell, I can at least get things to work by manually wrapping user controls in the proper namespace. Why this is necessary for aspx pages, that have no namespace specified, to see the user controls, seems to make no sense. Is there some fundamental principle I am misunderstanding??
I have a large web app in vb.net 4.0. Its default namespace is configured in its project properties. None of the root-level classes in our app are surrounded by namespace declarations. When I add a .asmx file to the root folder of the website, it compiles fine, but it doesn't work for some reason (already asked why in other topics). So to get it to work, I try to surround the class declared in the .asmx by a namespace declaration. As soon as I do this, I go from zero compiler errors to about a zillion. My app can't find ANYTHING in the root namespace. But I haven't changed any other files, only this .asmx file.
WHY is it behaving this way? How do I prevent it from behaving this way without refactoring the entire app? I would love to blank out the default namespace and add them explicitly around every root-level class, but I'm not sure that would fly with our release manager, and I don't even know if it would fix the problem.
I'm trying to add the Compatibility.VB6 namespace in some of my VB.NET Programs (using 1.1 framework, 2003). It was added in one of my programs because of a migration wizard but i can only use these commands in that particular program. How would I add that to the others?
I'm writing a piece of software that accepts XML from our clients. The xml has2 parts, a standard part that contains set fields, and a freeform part that allows our clients to add own their own xml
I have an array x in size of objects (between 1 and 100) and I want to increase the size to 101 ... I've resized the array and that adds the objects but unfortunatly (not suprising) the added items have not been initialised, do I've reverted to using a do while loop and adding the elements indiviually, but looking at the code around it where addrange is used extensivily, I was just wondering if that was a neat vb.net way of doing the same thing
Bit of a learning question, just looking for neat ways to do the same thing
The XML would look like this <soap:Header> <aaa:TocHeader aaa:role="ADMIN" aaa:locale="en-US" aaa:softwareName="TOC" aaa:softwareId="aaaaaaaaaaa" xsdVersion="1.0" xmlns:aaa="http://toc.schemas.testing.com/headers/2006-02-01"> <aaa:Message>
I've inherited a form that has a DataGridView that is bound to a dataadapter and it is connected to a binding source. Within the DataGridView is a combo box that is bound to its own bindingsource which basically just calls a stored proc to bring back the possible values for the dropdown combo control
With a blank new row and sometimes even with an existing row, this value for the combo box can be NULL which is a legitimate value for it if no value selected. Problem is everything is so tightly bound if the user mistakinly clicks the dropdown then a value is populated and there's no way to get back to NULL
I've tried to catch the mousecelldown event and others to try to catch this before a value is selected but the Cancel=True doesn't work - I can catch the event but don't know how to return the cell to unclicked or reset it to NULL or pre selected value if NULL I know how to at a new row with the datatable and then set the combo datasource to it and I have my null blank value but with a tightly bound control how do I add this row?
I'm trying add a new row to my databaseTo add a new record a pop up form opens (form2) with a textbox for the user to input their name, they then click the save button and the popup form closes and the main form (form1) is still showing and the added row seems to updated in combobox although it is blank!.This causes a new blank row to be added to the database - the data in the textbox is never saved to the database

Scenario:A widget developer codes using HTML and javascript.my vb.net application allows developers to create widgets for other users.in javascript you can call window.external to comunicate with the host windows scripting object and I would like to add a helper namespace with many functions to aid the development of widgets similar to windows sidebar's System namespace.
Problem:So I could allow developers to use Window.External.System but how can I just allow them to access System directly without using Window.External?Microsoft adds a System Namespace to windows sidebar gadgets host window which is just an internet explorer server window.
When I load a page into the web-browser control I have a text box and a button to insert more html and various other, but when I do so it redirects to about:blank. How do I stop this from happening. I cannot find anything that would hint me to fixing this problem anywhere Also this is how I add text to the page:
I'm attempting to create a bound WPF control; when I add a local namespace to the UserControl, I get strange output from the compiler. The header of the UserControl follows, with the offending line highlighted.[code]When that line is present, the compiler generates the following in the output:[code]
I am working on a solution that does not name namespaces in code files. Instead it uses the root name space of the project (which is the same across all assemblies). Basically there is only one implicit namespace.
Well, I am trying to isolate some code so that I can run FxCop against it. I explicated named the code file with a namespace to do this. This works for FxCop, but it bricks the entire solution.Visual Studio is now asking me to prefix all uses of the implicit namespace with Global. So instead of:
Im having a bit of trouble with my program. I have a few items that are selected by checkbox to add to a Textbox but the problem Im having is if I dont uncheck the textbox the checkboxes just make the total keep adding up. So if I have an item selected and I want to add another one by clicking its checkbox it adds the other ones to the total again and thats not what I want to do.
Dim num1 As Integer = 100 Dim num2 As Integer = 500 Dim num3 As Integer = 200 Dim num4 As Integer = 80
This class is located in the namespace Acme.Infrastructure.Interface.A class with the same name EventArgs exists in the System namespace. In another project in my solution I have a class Acme.BusinessModules.MyModule.MyClass.When attempting to use the EventArgs class I have to fully qualify the class name or the compiler thinks I am using the System.EventArgs class. My understanding of namespace resolution was that the compiler would first look for the class in the current namespace, and then its parents. It seems that the compiler checks in System before it checks in sibling namespaces. Is it correct that System is checked before the sibling? Or is this behaviour caused by other issues (Imports order?)?
I have written a function that gets the alexa ranking of a given url, now this function works perfectly but I want to loop through a ListView of urls and grab the alexa rank of each item (url) with my function. The code works great if I put a MessageBox in the loop to test that the function is returning a value but when I remove the MessageBox the loop does not work.I need it to loop through adding each result without a MessageBox stop in each loop.
vb For Each Item In ListView1.Items Dim result As Integer result = GetAlexaRank(Item.Text)
Alright, so I'm still working on the slot machine. I have three timers all independently going for my three "wheels" of the slot machine.
My issue, is that I'm trying to make a Stop button to stop each timer one at a time, and I'm not understanding why this code isn't working. The logic completely makes sense, and the first "wheel" stops when I click the button, however, it doesnt appear to stop the other two timers.
I have a simple application that use thread pool to read a file and input the data into a listbox. I want to be able to stop threadpool from running after clicking a stop button. How do I stop threadpool? Here is the code for my application below:
Imports System.Threading Public Class Form1 Private Delegate Sub StringDelegate(ByVal text As String)
I created a form and have the variable inputs for 4 motor run statements. Then with a start button the script starts and it is surrounded by a for next statement to loop 10 times. It works fine but if i need to stop the execution of the script with a stop button. I put the stop in a new section but of course does not work to do a motor stop. It just causes the exe to not respond till the loop is complete. Just need to be able to stop the Run1_Click button section.
Edit:I do not mind if it finishes the 4 motor run commands and then stops execution of the loop. So need to figure out a way to trigger a stop from a button on the form to stop the cycle. For the future the loop will be a variable integer input so 10 will not be the standard.
Edit::Does a ' Do ' statement sound like the thing to use? If so how and where would I place that? Have a Stop button on the form and it would stop after the 4th motor run command.
#End Region Declare Function InitStp Lib "stp.dll" () As Integer Declare Function RunMotor1 Lib "stp.dll" (ByVal steps As Integer, ByVal interval As Integer, ByVal direction As Integer, ByVal outputs As Integer) As Boolean
I have a START and STOP button and when the user clicks "start" the program does a whole bunch of calculations and all. However, I noticed that when I was testing the program I clicked STOP the program continues to execute stuff.
My START code is basically a while loop that iteratively does some calculations.
So I just put a boolean variable as the while condition and when user clicks stop its set to false and when user clicks start its set to true. However, when I click stop, the condition is set to false yes but it still executes all the code until the condition is re-evaluated right...so my question is how can I get out of the while loop when user instantly clicks "stop"?
I am trying to make an application with a start button and a stop button on a stop watch program. These are the codes I am using but my seconds on the stop watch don't start.
Public Form Dim intSecond As Integer = 0 Form 1 Private Dim intSecond As Integer = 0 intSecond +=1
[Code]...
After I write my code and try to run the program, the seconds will not start,
