I have a notepad txt file that has two columns of data. Vb reads data having one blank space (this is in column one) but ignores any other data beyond two blank spaces. in addition to being able to read the second column, I want to store the data thats in the column 2 in a separate string.

I'm implementing a feature which reads comma separated txt file from server(one line at a time). Format of file is fixed, There are 3 columns on each row. After reading the row from file I insert it in a database table. But first value of each row aoutomatically appends two blank spaces, even if there are no blank spaces at the begining of each row. I tried to use "TRIM/LTRIM/Replace" to remove blank spece from the first value of each row, but didn't succeed.

I made the labels red so you can see them. I used a picture of a little mug as bullet, aligned top-left. The label text normaly begins at the far left of the label, but with a bit of coding I solved that problem. I did not want to add extra spaces
to the text directly for keeping the data base small. The problem however is when the label has 2 or more lines of text the text don't line up nicely with the top line, once again I no not want to save the extra spaces to the data base.

I need to write a program in VB 2008 express that takes an user entry from a textbox and strips out all the spaces, changes it to either all upper case or all lower case then checks to see if it is a palindrome. I must also include a loop structure and a decision structure. I have seen bits and pieces of code but I do not really know how to put them together. I've resized the array and that adds the objects but unfortunatly (not suprising) the added items have not been initialised, do I've reverted to using a do while loop and adding the elements indiviually, but looking at the code around it where addrange is used extensivily, I was just wondering if that was a neat vb.net way of doing the same thing

I've inherited a form that has a DataGridView that is bound to a dataadapter and it is connected to a binding source. Within the DataGridView is a combo box that is bound to its own bindingsource which basically just calls a stored proc to bring back the possible values for the dropdown combo control
With a blank new row and sometimes even with an existing row, this value for the combo box can be NULL which is a legitimate value for it if no value selected. Problem is everything is so tightly bound if the user mistakinly clicks the dropdown then a value is populated and there's no way to get back to NULL
I've tried to catch the mousecelldown event and others to try to catch this before a value is selected but the Cancel=True doesn't work - I can catch the event but don't know how to return the cell to unclicked or reset it to NULL or pre selected value if NULL I know how to at a new row with the datatable and then set the combo datasource to it and I have my null blank value but with a tightly bound control how do I add this row?

I've been having fun with the xmldocument class recently but am struggling with namespaces. I've been trying (with some success) to merge parts of one XML file into another. The problem has been that one of them utilises a namespace on one of the interior nodes and therefore my xpath queries where failing when I tried to create a nodelist. This I fixed (after reading some great examples here) by adding a namespace manager and changing my query accordingly.
Everything looked fine initially and I appeared to end up with the desired effect, but the XML file that was created was failing in the target application. What I didn't realise at first (due to the length of the xml node values being wider than my screen!!) was that when I imported the nodes from one file to another, a blank names space was being added to the end of each node (xmlns="")

When I load a page into the web-browser control I have a text box and a button to insert more html and various other, but when I do so it redirects to about:blank. How do I stop this from happening. Everything works as intended, except when I try file names that contain spaces. The file system object does not tolerate spaces in the drawing file name. For instance, the following command gives me a system.io.filenotfoundexception...

It's the same problem for all of my File System commands. Either file not found or invalid arguments.

I just changed a control on a form from a masked textbox to a normal textbox because I wrote my own code to validate the data. I'm trying to clear the leading spaces that were created for this column in an Access database using the LTrim function and it doesn't work for some reason. The column is " :30" in the table and when I LTrim it and save the changes, it's still " :30" , not ":30". Is that leading entry not a space character?

I need to read an xml document from a database record into an XDocument object in order for it to be deserialized. So that the deserialization will work, I need to apply a specific namespace to each of the level 1 elements. So XML looks a bit like this:

I have used the following method to copy a file from one location to another:

with workpath being the original location and sessionspath being a string with the new location. True is the overwrite property.The file copies a blank file with the same name, but what i want (obviously) is to copy the file and the contents.ie how am i suppose to copy a file?If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room?
