But the problem is is that what you have say like 3 items in your inventory, and you close the application, all the items will go away because there's no way to save. I am trying to compile my program, and each time i do the access database is outside the executable. I was wondering if it is possible to compile it and the database will be within the executable, or better still how do i make it an installer kind of application that sends all the files to the programes folder on the computer.

I try to run the update command it always throws the exception "Cannot find table 0" or "Update unable to find TableMapping['Table'] or DataTable 'Table'." I tried declaring the connection the same way as the code above and then simply calling the da.update(ds) but it wouldn't do anything.

I used Query Wizard to show the data of both tables in a single table(3rd Table).I am able to view the content of all 3 tables using datagridview in vb 2008(Using Code), but i am unable to add,delete,save and search the content of the table using code. I have a database created using sql server express 2008. There I have two tables called tbl1 and tbl2, which are related as tbl1.CityNumber=tbl2.CityNumber.
I have created the programme using VB 2010; there, a form has three textboxes.
Tables: tbl1,tbl2 ; (related as tbl1.CityNumber=tbl2.CityNumber)
Columns to be updated:tbl1.CityName , tbl1.CityNumber, tbl2.StreetName
TextBoxes on the VB form: txtCityName , txtCityNumber, txtStreetName

But, now the problem is, the two tables have not get updated,after going to the database in MS.SQL Server Management Studio. I think I'm very closer to have my required result. I have tried my best to track place,where I've gone wrong.I have been trying to find a method for last five days.
I have a VB 2010 program with a single-table Access Database.I have selected the option to copy the Access Database to the output directory.When doing so, the program copies the original database to the inDebug folder.I want the original (NOT the copy) to be modified when the program is being tested.Also, when I attempted to publish the program and run it to test, I got an error which was sourced to be a temporary file (which was the database) that was missing.I think this is a reaction from the "Copy Always" option.

My reasoning for this is I don't want to lose all information typed into the form if they were to click on the "x" to close the form. I want the form to update whenever they type so if they forget to press a "save" button (or better yet not use a save button) the data won't be lost. I can use a textbox change event handler and code to update my dataset on every textbox in the form but it seems tedious.

View 9 RepliesI'm trying to access 2 tables within the same DB in Access 2007, but I have a problem when saving information to one of the tables, I can do it with one table but when I try to save the information to the second table the data gets overwritten, not sure why, because I use the same procedure for both of them, just changing the variables to avoid mixed data, this is the code that I use to connect with the DB and fill the DataSet:

I have a gridview with four template fields that I need to be able to put info into to save to the database. When I hit the edit button and my columns change into edit mode I can enter information just fine. But when I try to loop through the control to get the information it doesn't pick anything up?

My problem is probably ignorance as to how the DGV works, anyway, the problem.I have a bound datagridview which is used to collect user input. Data for 3 of the 7 fields is entered by looping through the rows and progmatically entering common data anfter a 'Save' Button is pressed:

Error occurred in the highlighted line as "Exception from HRESULT: 0x800401A8". I cannot analyse the cause for this error. because in before case it works fine for the same code i used.
I am opening an excel workbook, saving it under a new name, then run a macro on it from personal.xls, then resaving it over this new file.
Then I try to immediately resave again asa third name and it fails
