I have a form which creates controls dynamically and adds event handlers by itself (already coded that part). As for now, I have a hidden table with the object list which loops through the controls and finds it by name (using the Me.Controls collection). How ever, does anyone knows if a dynamically created control may have a special unique code ?

The machine has an in-built webcam which we are using in the application as described above.Somewhere within this code below, the default device is being identified and selected for taking the pictures we need.

Now what I need is to find the code that does this identification, and then hardcode the device identity into that code so that if I ever attach another (USB) webcam to the machine in future, it does not inadvertently take a photo from the wrong webcam.
Admin users can add HTML content to a website via a CMS textbox control.
When this content is displayed to a website visitor, I'd like to identify the presence of a HTML table (added by a Admin user using the CMS) and display an option for visitors to export that table.
I can handle the exporting, but identifying the HTML tables has me stumped.
I am debugging an assembly which I loaded dynamically with Assembly.Load(Byte[]), but I am facing some problems.First of all, I can't move the yellow arrow in Visual Studio 2010 to step into other lines of code, and also I am getiing exceptions ("Cannot find the method on the object instance.") when trying to do a quick watch on objects from a third party library (controls from Infragistics for example.)

EDIT: I tried loading the debugging symbols for my assembly with Assembly.Load(byte[]. byte[]), but it I sitll get Exceptions when trying to debug objects from third party libraries.
My goal here is to get stack trace information from a dynamically loaded assembly. If the dynamically loaded assembly just throws the error back to the caller, the stack trace information doesn't tell you the location in the dynamic assembly where the error occurred. If I throw my own exception, passing in the original exception, it will get added as an inner exception and will have the information need. I'm trying to avoid changing all my dynamic assemblies to throw new exceptions.

I have a database that dynamically loads from Access into a datagridview. I have to enter data manually into one column in this datagridview. I need to be able to perform calculations to this data, for example I need to sum the data in this column, sqaure it and substract it from individual sqaures of the data in the cells. I should be able to sum it sum(22,33,44,53,67,23)^2-sum(22^2,33^2,...23^2). The number of columns keep changing depending on the database I choose to load, so I need to code this dynamically too. I am not really a VB person. I did the same in excel using Visual Basic and I am trying to do it in this Visual Basic environment.I built a tool in excel(VBA) that do some statistical calculations and data analysis and I am trying to build the same in Visual Basic.
View 10 RepliesI have a Main form that has a split container in it. In Panel1 there is a treeview control. Panel2 is initally blank when Main loads. Upon clicking on one of the nodes in the treeview a form will load in panel2 and adjust the location of the controls based on the size of panel2. The controls are all in a panel themselves so that I am only moving a single object.
Moving the controls when the form in panel2 initially loads works great. But if the size of the Main for changes then the only way to get the controls to reposition is to click on the treeview and reload the form in panel 2.Code for the tree.

I understand the page lifecycle and how i need to add the dynamic controls on page_init if I want to take advantage of viewstate. Also I know that I should try to avoid dynamic controls when possible. The dynamic controls are created depending on an object that is created from custom event arguments sent from a custom treeview. Problem is I need viewstate so I need to create them in page_init but I don't have the event args to create the object that tell me what controls to add until later in the lifecycle.

I've successfully been able to add controls (labels, images, buttons, etc) to a panel control (using VB/ASP). This panel control, I refer to it as "insertpanel". Then I add this panel to the main panel on my webpage which I made during design time. View 1 RepliesI am looking for the best way to dynamically arrange the location of labels (or any control for that matter) during runtime in a Windows Forms application using VB.net or C# in VS2008.I have a control that displays messages created by users.This control has a panel docked at the top which holds the header information for each message, called pnlHeader There are 8 labels: 4 of them display static descriptions (e.g. "To", "From", "Created Date", "Completed Date")And the other 4 display the relevant data for those descriptions. (Passed in during runtime from a MS SQL 2005 DB).Static labels are named: lblCreatedDateLbl and dynamic ones: lblCreatedDate The application runs on monitors of various size and resolution, therefor I would like for all of the labels to arrange themselves with equal spacing in pnlHeader, based on the current width of the panel.
At first, I had simply created the labels in the Designer and used Anchors (half of the lables were set to (Top, Left) and the other half to (Top, Right)). This solution worked for most scenarios, but did not always provide a consistent solution, so I decided to add the controls in code instead.
I thought it would be easier to work with the labels by creating a panel for each corresponding pair. So pnlCreatedDate would hold lblCreatedDateLbl and lblCreatedDate I wrote 2 methods: 1 to define each label and add it to the relevant panel: Sub AddLabels
and another to determine the width of the panels and set the correct location: Sub SetLoc Currently, AddLabels runs in the constructor after InitializeComponent() and SetLoc is called after the data has been passed in from the database.
I've tried making minor changes and tweaks to the width and size parameters, enabling and disabling AutoSize, but nothing returns a consistent solution, instead either all the description labels are misplaced, or do not appear at all or completely whack locations come up.

The record is a "Pass/Fail" Record. So, if the record is a "Fail", the failed items will be added below the main group of labels; therefore, many child groups of labels will be added below the main group, which is theoretically the header record. I am using a second panel to add the failed items. My issue is how to dynamically add, name, and position the failed item labels and panels. Is it is possible to perform validation on the dropdowns lists to ensure that a value has been selected? If any of the dropdownlists that still have the default value (the "please make a selection" text) the page is then redisplayed with the font colour of the question or dropdownlist box changed to say red?
I'm from the Webforms world and have made the switch over to MVC (which I really like!) and I know there are some pretty slick validation tools out there but you seem to have to account for them within the view itself.
I cannot pass a HTML helper through the viewdata of the controller as it does not render unless it has been coded directly into the view itself.
Also, I'm looking for a pure asp.net solution as I cannot use javascript due to accessiblity concerns. I can access all the values of the dropdowns without any problems throug the formscollection object but from there I'm a bit stuck.

I have been set a project from school to design snake in VB.Net but i am struggling to dynamically add the user control which acts as one of the dots in the body of the snake. Every time i add a dot on to the snake the previous vanishes.
