I'm planning to create an VB.net application for retrieving data from a database (MS Access) and store it to a web server (MySQL data base). I really have confusion in my mind. I'm planning to use task scheduler so that the program will automatically run. I'm planning to set the time every 5 minutes.How can I avoid the redundancy of data? For example, I'm planning to get the sales for 5 minutes, after 5 minutes I will do it again. I think there will be redundancy in that case.

What I am doing is making a Database of foreign Languages with the spelling of the words and the pronounciation inside the database... The USER enters a paragraph of words into the translator textbox and pushed translate. I am creating a very simple Voting System, that will be use on electing new set of officer in a teacher cooperative...
So I have to create two separate program, a Server Program that will manage all the information in the election and a Client Program where voters will vote their selected candidate...
The election officers wanted that the Server Program will display the Voting Results at real time... So when the Voter finished voting, The Voting Result displayed by the Server Program will also be updated every time the Client Program Insert the data to Database....
An action listener in Server Program that will execute if new data is inserted in a Table in the Database made by the Client Program...
I can't seem to save data in the database when updating a record. The record appears to be updated and even displays the new record on my form but as soon as I close and restart the program the old record is back and no changes are made to the database. Is there something im missing here ?

I want to create small database which handles Student Attendance Record it will store the roll calls of students on daily basis that teachers collect from the students in the class on paper and then later transfer it on computer .So my database Must contain Month, Year, Program (BCS, BIT, MS, MCS, MIT etc) Batch (1st, 2nd etc) and Subject (English, Math, Geography etc)
