Actually the above entry is added to DA..but how do i update it to the actual DateBase, DB1?
I need to get information from two tables onto my form. I'm using a DataGrid called SQLGrid which I'm populating in code with the information I need to get out of both tables.

I need my application to be able to update the DataGrid, and commit those updates to the database. My problem is that all the research I've done so far has led me to believe that there's no way I can do this because the SqlDataAdapter.Update() method only updates 1 single table.I just had an idea to make my event handler execute a stored procedure that creates a view on the database, populates it with data from my dataset, and then distributes the information between the two tables where needed.I guess another solution would be to use 2 DataGrids and then tie each of them into a seperate DataAdapter/DataSet, and then update each when the Event is called. The problem here would be that it's more work for the end user to make changes, so I'd really prefer to do it another way.
I'm new to vb.net and its database methods so I'm a bit confused by these datasets and grids and table adapters.

I have a datagridview attached to a dataset. I also have a button that the user can press to update information in the datagrid based on a website. But I often get that error when it comes to actually updating the table.
My application pulls data from a one column MS Access table. The column name is "Timer", and in Access the values are stored as text. In my application the DataTable stores the values as Timespan. Since the strings are of the format "01:22:15", there is no problem parsing the strings to Timespan when filling the DataTable When I am done working with the data, I want to update the Access DB, so I call dtAdapter.Adapter.Update(dt). This is when I run into trouble. As the application tries to update the database, I receive these errors:
"A system.InvalidCastException was thrown: Object must implement IConvertible""Failed to convert Parameter value from a Timespan to a String"
How do I instruct the TableAdapter to convert my Timespan values in the "Timer" column to strings before storing it in the database?
I have to work in two parallel environments, developement and production, I want to use the same TableAdapter to connect to different databases (two Oracle databases running on different servers) with the very same structure. How is this possible?

I've been struggling the entire day trying to figure this out. Basically the data in my form won't save to the tableAdapter. To update the database I use:
Me.dataSetName.TableName.Rows.Add (DataRowName)
Me.tableAdapterName.Update(Me.dataSetName.TableName)
The database was created using SSMS 2008 R2 and I'm using VS 2010.

I have a table adapter for a fairly sizable piece of data. Now with this data I would like to give the user the ability to change the company name and have this reflected in the form on the drop down list of all of the companies once they have clicked submit. However, in order to do so I currently "Fill" the entire table adapter again to achieve this.Is there any way which I could just re-fill the company column from the database in the same tablea dapter.Here is my code for the sub:

I'm using Visual Studio 2010 Express running on Windows 7 64-bit. I get the same error as detailled in this link [URL] .I need to work with some data to develop the system. I think I can only do this by changing the Copy to Output Directory file property to "Copy if newer" to prevent the debugger from losing it.However this causes TableAdapter.Fill to exit from the sub immediately after executing leaving behind the other code in the form "Add_Load" routine.

There is something wrong with my codes. I don't know why it isn't updating the records.If I activated the line dt.Rows.Add(newrow) it will just create an error on da.update(dt) line QuoteThe changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. i have published my website...its a dynamic site..so i have database connectivity..now i want to make an application in VB to update my database using my application..i mean i do not want to login to the site and update my database rather update it using my application..i want to connect my application to the database of the published site and update it from anywhere i want using the application...is it possible??

I've seen similar problems posted on this and other boards, typically with a bunch of code checking before its realised that that database itself is being copied to another directory and run from there. Apparently this is managed via the database properties, copy to output directory settings. In my case I have tried all three options, with no change in result. After "saving", inspection of the actual database via the server explorer shows no changes have actually been committed.
I am getting to a point where I need to start entering large amounts of data into the app and have at actually save to the db for deeper testing.
I noticed this behavious first when using an .accdb and it has persisted through my exploration of SQL(.mdf)

I'm having a database, using GridView I retrieve the data into my WEB application.Then I set the rows to editable (not sure if it is fully completed) and when I edit some cells I want to update the GridView AND the database behind.When I click on 'edit' then the button is changed to update. I get some unhandled exception. I don't expect anything else since I didn't put any code in the update methods like RowCommand, RowUpdating, RowUpdated, RowDataBound.

im having problems saving and and updating my database. created in the database explorer.Run thorugh what ive done, created tables saved the job, imported the database dragged items on to screen.
