Use AppActivate When The App Is Inside The Form Using Vb In Vs2008?
May 10, 2011
I have an application (hyperterminal) that I have loaded inside of a form. I know how to use it when the application is open outside of the form but how do I use appactivate to interact with it inside the form?
One of the things I loved about VB6 is that you had the ability to tell the development environment to break on all errors regardless of what error handling you had set up. Is it possible to do the same thing in VS2008 so that the debugger will stop on any error even if it happens inside a try-catch statement?
I have a project in VS2008.Net3.5 with a Module1, form1 and form2.
[Code]...
Question: At the beginning I am opening form1 from sub Main(). Now from the menu I am openning form2. In form2 I am clicking Done button to hide form2 and go back to form1. It works fine in the 1st trial. Keeping form1 open for the 2nd time, I opened form2 from the menu. Now when I Click the Done button 2nd time it just hides up everything. Form1 does not show UP. It just exits the whole application. But in my btnDone event, I have frm1.show().
the name pretty much says it all, I need a more reliable code then AppActivate that does the same thing. I need it to activate a program I tell it to, perferribly without calling the process id.
I am trying to add some error handling for AppActivate if any error occurs.I initially tried using a try statement and cancelling the sub that calls the function where my AppActivate code is, but that didn't work.I have tried looping it, changing values and everything I know. I have Googled and nothing :S
Here is my I have removed all the error handling I tried to implement, however, this commented msgbox I would like to be included (that is, possible to execute) in any methods you present.
I am working on a tournament host tool program for a MyLeague game league that plays on Pogo. I am wondering how I can select the chat box of pogo games after I use AppActivate. I am using this:
Private Sub Button11_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button11.Click AppActivate("Username in Bridge")
Ok, so I have set my form as the parent of a 3rd party application.Appactivate works when the 3rd party application is not a child of my form.It would appear that if the application is not on the taskbar (A non taskbar application) appactivate does not work.
I have a window that I need to activate and the window name does not work in AppActivate("WindowName") because this does not work with partial captions etc... and the window name will be different depending on user. That being said I am able to use "GetwindowhandlefromPartialCaption" to retrieve the # value of the window name or handle. Is there a way to convert this or extract the name from the handle ID to use with AppActivate?

I just moved from VS2005 to 2008. All seemed fine until I started playing with locally cached data sources. After that I started getting this problem and now I get it even when starting a new project. I start a new project and debug, Form1 shows and all is well. If I add a combobox to the form and debug the form immediately closes. It doesn't seem to do it for other controls.
Im currently working on a project using VS2008. One of the features of this applications is to enable the user to change the theme either buy selecting preset ones or defining there own. The themes used in this application are not the default windows ones. I basically created my own window, titlebar etc... with the use of panels and removed teh windows form borders. So its basically coloring the controls on the form. At the moment the theme information is stored in a "txt" file and when the application loads, it applies the theme to the current form. However, there is more than 1 form within this application. I dont want to write many lines of code to apply certain design/appearance properties to every control in the form. So is there a way to apply settings to a group of controls?
EG: Make all textboxes BackColor Blue
My application also has widgets. All widgets are panels with their names prefixed as "Pnl_WIDGET". Is there also a way to set propeties to all panles with the name beginning with "Pnl_WIDGET"?
I have a project in VS2008.Net3.5. I have 3 forms in total. The Sub Main() in Module1 first calls the Form1. Then Clicking Button1_Click event in Form1 opens up Form2. In Form2 I have a text box that I will fill out from Form3. But when I am Clicking Button1_Click event in Form1, it can't keep Form2 open but it opens up Form3 directly. I dont want this. I want to open Form2. In Form2 I will press the textbox and then we have Form3 open. But this is not working.==============
Module Module1 Public frm1 As Form1 Public Sub Main()

I knew that in Form2 the first focus is going to the textbox and it then opening the Form3 for the GotFocus method. How can I move the focus to other control in Form2 instead of the default focus to my textbox. Or is there other event method other than GotFocus?

The following code does create a form within a form and does place NotePad inside the child form. You have to manually start NotePad prior to execution (I work on that later) but the code does workŠ My problem is now I want to manipulate the properties of notepad i.e. focus, size, location, etc. but I cannot figure out how to reference notepad and its properties.
There's a richtext box in Form 2 and a WebBrowser in Form 1. The richtext box contains several hyperlink. How can I navigate the WebBrowser in Form 1 by clicking the links inside the richtext box in Form 2.
Inside a form, I would like to display a pdf file which is already available in my resources (template file "untitled"). In this pdf file, I have some fields which get their values from some texboxes in another form. My aim is, when the user triggers the button to call this form, it should insert the values inside the pdf file and display the output pdf inside the form.I have written the code to an extend but could not finish it myself after my many trials... Now here are the two things I cannot manage:I can use a directory to read the template pdf "untitled1.pdf". But my aim is to use the file inside my resources. can save the output file in a directory but this is not I want to do. I want to display the output pdf.
