I am working on a tournament host tool program for a MyLeague game league that plays on Pogo. I am wondering how I can select the chat box of pogo games after I use AppActivate. I am using this:

the name pretty much says it all, I need a more reliable code then AppActivate that does the same thing. I need it to activate a program I tell it to, perferribly without calling the process id.
View 6 RepliesI am trying to add some error handling for AppActivate if any error occurs.I initially tried using a try statement and cancelling the sub that calls the function where my AppActivate code is, but that didn't work.I have tried looping it, changing values and everything I know. I have Googled and nothing :S

That being said I am able to use "GetwindowhandlefromPartialCaption" to retrieve the # value of the window name or handle. Is there a way to convert this or extract the name from the handle ID to use with AppActivate?

Okay so i am dreadfully bored in my Visual basic class at school and thought it would be fun to write a lan chat program for all of my class mates to use. So I was wondering what would be the best way to go about it. I have read up on Winsock but i can't tell if it even exists for Vb 10 or if it is usable if none of our computers cant talk over the internet. If winsock is not a viable option then what would be an alternative.
View 6 RepliesI've finished my chat spammer, and it's not working the way it's suppose to (In Game). However, it works properly in chat rooms. Instead of it spamming once per line, it clumps the messages together.

Ok, got a simple chat client working. Added code to the ~client~ so that when it receives certain codes it will change the color of the text..

i have a webbrowser and in it is the URL of the chat hosted by bravenet is there a way to have it so the user only see's textbox's and a button then it lodes? This is the chat URL so you can see how it works.

It is a chat Server that can interact with a mobile Platform.Now If a Exception occurs in OnStart Sub you have no way of knowing there was an exception other than the misleading messagebox.I've Pinpointed the Exception to my fairly Simple log Class that Writes to a log file. I have tried adding clientSocket.Close() in various places throughout the client and server with no luck. Does someone know how to add the disconnect code to either the server or client with this code?Server:

1) I have a chat Program.
2) To access the Chat Program one has to put in ones Username and password in a Login Form.
3) TextBox1 = Username TextBox2 = Password
4) One clicks the "Log In" button.
5) HERE is the problem. I do not know how to check if the specific username and the password are correct. I have a file called "Users.dat". In there every valid Username(marked with a *) and it's Password(marked with a #) is contained e.g.*Username#Password.
I want my "Log In" program to check if the Username matches one of the usernames and if the username is found in the file, if the password provided is the same as the one standing behind the Username in the file.
6) If both the Username and Password are valid, the Chat Programs shows up.
I am developing a chat application using online connection to a mysql databbase. But i am facing a problem. After 10 minutes, MySQL closes all the chat connections because of the 600 seconds timeout (has been set by the host service i am using). I don't understand why is that happening cause every piece of my code which needs data from the database opens and closes the connection (i mean that it dosn't maintain the connection after the query's execution). If i .close() and .dispose() the connection, it still appears in mysql at sleep mode (it terminates only if i exit the program).

I want to create a simple Hello World or whatever kind of application I want but I don't want it to be a ClickOnce app and I'm using Visual Studio 2010. How would I do this. I'm interested in this because I'd like to have a custom add/remove program icon for my application and not the standard ClickOnce icon that you see. I'd also like to create a custom updater that wouldn't use ClickOnce, and I'd like to bypass all the "Are you sure you trust this publisher" messages that you get when using ClickOnce.

I am creating an application that is actually 4 seperate executables - UI is one and then 3 background services (console apps - no FORM's).I believe I can do one solution with 4 projects - would that be the recommended method? If a transmission class is common to all 4 would I make that a separate project or put it in one project and share that folder with the others? Can I have all 4 projects START when you click RUN?Does the OUTPUT window and other debug windows work with all 4 projects?Or is it better to make them 4 solutions for debugging purposes?
