i have created on application using vb.net. it is using ms access database to insert and delete data in it. Now my client does not want to install ms access on his computer. Is it possible to insert and receive data from ms access database on computer which does not have ms access or office installed?

I have a vb script in access 2007 and there I read some text documents and save them as record in the database. This is on a machine with windows 7. When I do this without sp1 for windows 7 it all works. When i install sp1 on windows 7 then I get the error massage cannot save with the code 2147286781 (80030103). In the VB code I use rs.save. I put a example of the code below. Here i created a new DB and want to save 1 record. I got the same error back.[code]

When I used the Published program to Install it in my same computer it got installed in "StartMenu".
I didn't get the option to select the Drive for Installing it like what we get when installing other program.
how to make that option to appear on installing the program?
is there any method or function or anything else to connect database without installing sql server in vb.net (Client side)!
View 8 RepliesI have an app developed with VB .NET as front end and SQL Server Express 2005 Database. Now I want to install it on a server so that other client PCs can access it. My gquestions are:
1. Do I have to install SQL Server Express on the Server before I can install my database on it?
2. Do I have to install Visual studio on the clients before I can install the front end?
3. Is there any online walk-through/tutorial on how to accomplish this (ie, installing a database app on a server and connecting the clients)?
When I try to install the application from the files it produces when I follow the prompts from Build - > Publish (Visual Studio 2010) onto another computer, and then run the application on the other computer, it wont connect to the SQL database on the original computer. I've been receiving a timeout error or one which says it can't find the server.I have no idea where to start looking to fix this, both computers are running XP and 4.0 .NET Framework. The computers are linked on the same network.I think my connection string is the culprit, but I don't know how it should be set up to run on multiple computers. Here's my connection string:[code]The connection string works on the application I've installed on the original computer, but not the second computer I've tried installing the application on.My second thought was that it could be the server which is wrong, I've just used the name of my computer for that, is this correct? I thought it may be because all the computers are connected on the network.

I am using the code shown below to compare two Access databases with two fields each and write the results to a third Access database. I am getting an error at the "Do While DMReader02.Read = True" line: "Invalid attempt to call Read when reader is closed." Why would the reader be closed at this point if I am using different DataReaders in the two loops?

I'm using VS 2010, and I did a project using VB and a database in Access. The problem is that when I try to put that "application" on other computers, sometimes, is not working. I thought it can be because on these computers they don't have access, but on one computer, is running another app which is using Access and there is no Access installed. How can I check if my application requires Access to be installed or not?

It looks to me as though I nearly have to re-create the controls and rewrite some of the code to make it so the programs still work after the move. At least with ODBC all I would change was the DSN definitions external to the programs. Is there an easy way to move or rename a database without loads of work?

What I am doing is making a Database of foreign Languages with the spelling of the words and the pronounciation inside the database... The USER enters a paragraph of words into the translator textbox and pushed translate. Friends I have Developed my Data base Project on vb6, using adodc and datagrid using ms access database file, it was working nice in vb6, I also put Search box there and used adodc1.recordsource="select * from table" sql query.
later i needed to convert it in vb.net I converted it, every thing is working fine, but one problem appears, an adodc's Recordsource query for searching records is not working, it only works if there is data in dataset (Datagrid),suppose once i pressed search button to search record and if no record found then dataset / datagrid becomes empty, now i wanted to search an other record with other name, but this time it does not work and following error appears Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.

View 5 RepliesI have created an access database which i want to search with vb.net, I tried a few thing but it didnt work as desired.
Firstly the program is suppose to display items in the database base on the criteria selected by the user. what i've succefssfully done so far is I've added a datagrid 2 combobox, 1 (searchcbo) with the columns in the database and the other (searchcbo1) will autoload the items under the column selected in and a button (searchbtn) but i have no clue of the code to put in the button. i also tried the fill method but that didnt work as i wanted to. ultimately i want a combobox with the list of columns and a textbox to enter criteria and of course a search button.
The searchbtn should act as the "WHERE" sql command, e.g. SELECT EmployeeNumber, Firstname, LastName, Phone, Location....etc FROM CallLog WHERE searchcbo.text = searchcbo1.text And display the results in the datagrid.
