I would like to know how can I use tinyint in SQL Server 2005 with VB.NET. someone know all data types in SQL Server 2005 are matching to which VB.NET Data types. I face that problem now. For example: tinyint in VB.NET, money in VB.NET, smalldatetime in VB.NET.
I have a bound datagridview on a form. The designer has added a column from my SQL DB(type tinyint) as a textbox colum. Now i'd like the cell to be displayed as a combobox column since its a month value column e.g. 0-12.
Through the designer I changed the column type to Combobox(which means the column is no longer bound) but when I try to load the form now its always coming back with a "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". The annoying thing is VS is not telling me exactly which line of code is bringing back this error but it does show me the stacktrace which points to the designer code.
*I've made sure to add all the possible combinations in the combobox column's items list*
I've been doing some research and some people point to tinyint dataype not being 'liked' in vb.net so a direct cast needs to be done. However since am doing this in the designer am not quite sure where exactly to cast?, assuming to type Byte? Going through the designer generated code I can see its already doing a cast of its own:
DataGridViewCellStyle9.Font = New System.Drawing.Font("Calibri", 9.75!, System.Drawing.FontStyle.Regular, System.Drawing.GraphicsUnit.Point, CType(0, Byte))
I just read little bit about macro and was trying to create the one in .net I was able to do very small operations since I dont know much about vb.net and regular expressions.I want to create a properties and variable declaration for the below code.What will be the regular expression to parse this string. So that I can get all the components to create a property from this.
,<Status, tinyint,>
I am trying to create macro that can parse above string into
private byte _Status; prublic byte Status { get; set; }
May I ask a question to you all.I have vb.net project that generate sales report from SQL Server Database.I changed SQL Server 2005 Express to SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition.

How can I write a connection string? I has four different computer that can be connect via ethernet.How can I maintain a inserting data if to computer insert on same table at a single time..??
I am tring to make the below application work with SQL Server 2005 Database Currently it works for test.mdb, which is in the same folder with the application. How shoud I modify the MapPath to work with SQL Server.
I am using memorystream to get and store images into sqlserver 2005 table image field. This process is working and I am able to display image in picture box. I need to be able to store PDF files into the same field and be able to display in a picture box.

i wrote a software which would work perfectly fine on vb.net with connection string: [code] but if i try and run it on a pc with sql server 2005 installed it fails to run what changes do i need to do to make it run
I had made a project in VB.NET 2005 with SQL SERVER 2005 used as database. Now i want to make a setup of this project but i am unable to integrate sqldatabase and .net framework in this setup project. Is there any way to do this. Because it is assumed that the client does not have .NET Framework installed nor he has SQL Server on his system and the worst condition would be he does not have even internet connection from where these two setups can be downloaded if we give the condition for downloading these programs from the net if the client does not have these programs installed on his machine.
Ran into this problem of connection string using vb.net and sqlserver 2005 express. My current connection string works well locally but when deployed on a client, i get a connection. Can anyone help with the right connection string to us in order to deploy to other client(pc's).
im using SQL Server 2005 as my back end for an information system im currently developing. Im a total beginner with SQL, so i came across a huge blockade.An error appeared while i was configuring my server,"Login failed for 'username'. Reason: Account disabled".i tried searching EVERYWHERE in the net, but nothing helped me.
i am trying to develop a multi user application. this is the first time i am doing it. my database is sql server 2005. and using vb.net as the programming language.i have few questions,
1. my database is in one computer. this computer is not actually a database server. it is just a computer. and the database is created in local drive (e:) of the computer. when i develop the application. so, if i am writing an application for the computer where the database is created. i can give the location of the database as my connection string (is there any better way to do this. because there might be problems, if the database location is changed). how can i connect to the database from the other computers in the same network?
2. this is my second question. i have a table which stores customer details (customer id is primary key and its auto number). one customer can have many hobbies. so i took it as a separate table (customer ID as the foreign key of that table) . when i enter data, i use single form to enter the customer details and their hobbies. so when i insert the record into two tables, will the second table take the new customer ID automatically into dat tables customer ID which is a foreign key.
I making a connection through word 2003 VBA to SQL server 2005 using the following codeDim cn As ADODB.ConnectionSet cn = New Connectioncn.ConnectionString = "Provider=SQLNCLI;Server=LEXAE29150SQLEXPRESS;" & _"Database=MCarter.mdf;Integrated Security=SSPI;"cn.openetc.cn.close.All runs fine up to cn.open.I then get the message error 'Cannot open database "MC.dbf" request by the login. The Login failed'.Tryed websearching but no succes. Been on it a week and the boss is doing his nut. I'm lost and unsure what wrong.The SQL server is set for windows authenticity and SOL Server login.In the MC database under security users my user name (Login) is their and setup as owner and sysadmin.SQLServer is running on the same machine as the word.dot.
I am developing an application with "Visual Studio 2008" (in language VB.NET, Framework: 3.5) with data server as "SQL SERVER EXPRESS 2005".
i have one table with name [fyr] and it contains two columns 'fyid' (integer) and 'fyear' (nvarchar(50)).following queries are showing exception as "No data exists for row/column"
Dim cmd As New OleDbCommand("SELECT * FROM fyr WHERE fyear= '" & DateTime.Now.ToString("yy") & "-" & DateTime.Now.ToString("yy") + 1 & "'", Connection.Instance) Dim cmd As New OleDbCommand("select * from fyr where fyear = '12-13'", Connection.Instance) Dim bdr As OleDbDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader()
both queries above has same result.but all these queries are working if executed directly in "SQL SERVER Management Studio" and showing the expected results.and connection is in open state all other queries in the project are executing correctly and successfully.The table has the data like this:
I have an application that collects digital signatures, and saves them as a bitmap to a specified directory. After the code saves the bitmap, I use a SQLDataAdapter to insert the path to the bitmap into a text field. All the code works on my computer, but on customer computers it does not. I do not get an error msg, but the string value of the path is not inserted. All security works because they can write any other records to the same database. [Code]
I have VB.net console application which is working fine locally. It should start once I double click it.I created a setup project (using Setup and Deployment wizard) and publish it on the server, it does not work. It just flashes and then goes away.Would there be any dependencies I'm overlooking?
I included during my setup- Primary output from 'myapp' Source files from 'myapp' Debug Symbols from 'myapp'
I even tried to add the exe (which works on my machine separately on the server, but does the same.
i have two computers network connected one is com1 and other is com2.i m using com1..if i save then i want to store in only in com2..and when i open from another computer the database frm com2 should be displayed from com1.Dim cn As New SqlConnection("server=localhost;database=attendance1;uid=sa;password=;")i think just the declaration would do that...but i m not doint that.
I am using a database file Database1.mdf which have a tabel called student. This Database1.mdf is simply added by using the option Add New Item in Solution Explorer. The problem is that I am to able to update the database through form and code. The code is as:
Dim conn As SqlClient.SqlConnection Dim ada As SqlClient.SqlDataAdapter Dim cp As SqlClient.SqlCommandBuilder
[code]....
The ds is updated at run time, but as form is closed and run again the actual database table student is not updated.I have no idea what is going on. The same code work right with Access database and SQL database but in this case it is not working. I've tried on google but not getting satisfactory answer. I've also seen a post on this site but that is about ConnectionString, not about the database update.
im trying to do is ping a server and see if there is a response. If there is a response then i would like to set an integer to 1 if there is not a response set the integer to 0. I would also then like to gather any servers that had a response into a list box. I know how to build a list box just having trouble getting the code to set a variable if or if there isnt a response.
'm just a beginner who want to learn on manipulating SQL Server data using vb.net. I have already experienced manipulating data in ms access. So I just recycled the code that I used in here. But unfortunately I got this error:Object reference not set to an instance of an object.And another problem is that, I'm not really sure if what I have inputted in the SqlConnection matches what is in SQL Server. Here is a screen shot of sql server management studio express:
Imorts system.data.sqlclient 'declarations Dim idnum As String
I have a VB.net app (which I will turn into a webform soon), my app generates a datatable of values (3 columns and on average about 1000-3000 rows).What is the best way to get this data table into an SQL Server? I can create a table on SQL Server no problem but I've found simply looping through the datatable and doing 1000-3000 insert statements is slow (a few seconds). I'd like to make this as streamlined as possible so was wondering is there is a native way to insert all records in a batch via ADO.net or something.
I am building an application with VB 2005 with sql server. I am using a listbox to populate items from the database. The listbox Sorted property has been set to True and also the query uses order by clause on the Name field. The items in the listbox look like
Bean Began Cat Category Detail Delta
MY problem is when the user tries to select an item, say Detail, having focus on the listbox, when pressing the keys D the item Detail selects but on next key e, it goes on to the Item starting with E. (in vb6 listbox property Sorted = true would solve this problem, which i am not getting with vb 2005/2008)
So, how can i achieve the multiple keypress on the listbox (without using any textbox to select items) to select the typed items in the list.
