User To Pick A Item From The Drop Down Box And List Box
Aug 30, 2010
I am new to VB and what I would like is for the user to pick a item from the drop down box and from there; there would be a list that pops up to the side with that users pick list of attacks. I am trying to do this for every item in the drop down box. So, when the user changes character type it automatically changes the list to what the user picked. Below is two pictures one with the ?amazon? picked and the other with the ?sorceress? picked. To give you an example of what I am trying to do. My question is what the best way of doing this?
i'm new to vb.net.is it possible to link item in drop down list to image? for example if i click "computer" in the drop down list, the image of the computer will appear. sorry if my question sounds silly. i'm really a newbie in vb.
i seem to have a problem when i try to select a ComboBox item which is a drop down list. The ComboBox contains a list of various items where the user can select from a list, the type of query he/she would like to perform on an Access Database. Two of the items in the Drop Down List are "Employee Sales Between Specified Weeks" and the other item is "Employee Sales Between Specified Months" (without quotation). Now in my VB code, i have a really long If/ElseIf Statement which includes all the options the user can select. Additionally, if the user has selected a week query, he/she must select a From Week, a To Week and a Year (for example week 3 to week 5 year 2009). From Week is another combobox (1-53 weeks) and To Week is also another ComboBox (1-53).When the user selects a month query, he/she should select a From Month from a ComboBox (1-12) and a To Month from another ComboBox (1-12) and the year from the same Combobox (e.g 2009).
I've worked out how to create a DropDownList using the following code: <select id="salesPersonDropList" runat="server"></select> In my .aspx page, then my code behind loops through database output running:
Dim newListItem As ListItem newListItem = New ListItem("Title", "Value") salesPersonDropList.Items.Add(newListItem )
What I can't figure out is how to programatically set which of the List Items created is the one to be pre-selected in the rendered DropDownList, ie, how to create what I'd write in HTML as:
i have created a comboBox and want to set it so when a user selects option1 from the drop down list. a Text box populates with text for the user to see.
The Textbox.Text will be a new Item in ListBox when Button1.Click I want button2.click to pick a random item from the listbox and display it as the label. Think of it as a random raffle picker lol.
I am creating a program that allows a user to view a list of foods in a combo box, add that food unto a list box, and adds all of the calories of that food together. When the user highlights their select food, the program automatically shows the amount of calories for that particular food in a text box. The program is getting the food and calorie information from an access database. I managed to get all of the food calories to add up properly, however, I ran into a problem. Sometimes, well, most of the time, when I select certain foods from the combo box, the program automatically reselects another random food, usually a food that begins with either an A, B, or C. Also, the other random food that the program chooses usually has the same amount of calories as the food I originally wanted to choose. I have over 6,000 items in the database. I don't understand why this is happening. This is what my code looks like for the button that adds each food to the list box:
Private Sub Button4_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button4.Click Foods_Selected.Items.Add(ComboBox1.Text)
Static i As Single
[CODE]...
And this is what my code looks like for the button that adds all of the foods together:
Private Sub Button1_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim x As Single Dim TotalCalories As Single
[CODE]...
I have no idea what to try. It's like the program just skips over random foods, even though all of the information for them is in the database.
I have a list box on the form which functions as a copy/paste. When you copy something, it is automatically added to the list box as a "clipboard helper". Here is the problem, however: if the text is more than 1 line, the list box does not show all the text.It ends up looking messy. So getting back to my question, is it possible to make the list box item height for an item depending on the amount of lines that item contains? This is a one line sentence in the list box and should take up one line. This is a multi line sentence in the list box and should take up two lines for item height.
Currently I have the start-key for my vb.net application hardcoded like this:
GetAsyncKeyState(Keys.F2)
Where vb.net sais "F2 As System.Windows.Forms.Keys = 113" on mouse-over.But I want my users to be able to pick their own Key. If I make a drop-down box (combobox) and pre-define some choices in there (Like ESC or F3), all those choices are strings. How can I convert those strings to a System.Windows.Forms.Keys integer? Also, I'd like it to also be possible to "capture" a single keypress. So they'd click the "capture" button, and the next key they hit will be saved as the start/stop button. But I wouldn't even know where to begin looking for that one.
Does anyone know if it is possible to make a drop down list control (when clicked) list its contents above the item, rather than below? Effectively, I need a drop up list rather than a drop down list...
On Form Load I populate a menu with all possible colors so they user can pick a color. However when they pick a color the forecolor of my label is not changed.
I want to create a simple form with 2 buttons, one to end the program and one to log the user off, I have done this successfully and have everything looking and working as it should. However, I want to force the user to pick one of these buttons before using the machine, my idea was to trap the mouse in the form so the only thing the user can do is select a button. My question is how can I do this?
Is it possible to reorder the elements of a drop down list (combobox) via drag and drop? For example, when the list is dropped down, I want the user to be able to drag the items up or down to reorder them. I tried this (and some google searching) but I'm wondering if its just not possible:
Private Sub cmbClassLists_MouseDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles cmbClassLists.MouseDown If cmbClassLists.DroppedDown And Not cmbClassLists.SelectedIndex = -1 Then
I have a media browser program I am building. I am trying to use drag/drop so a user can drag media tracks from one listview to another listview and then use the second list view as a playlist in windows media player com object. Reading at MSDN I have found out that there is no built in support for item re-ordering with the listview control. I have listview1 working correctly but when I try to reorder items in listview2, the dragged item ends up at the end of the list. So basically I need to get the item insertion index corrected. I have tried more than 10 times to get this code right.
Here is my code which includes a form with two listview's.
Public Class Form1
Private Sub ListView_ItemDrag(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As _ System.Windows.Forms.ItemDragEventArgs) Handles ListView1.ItemDrag, _ ListView2.ItemDrag
I'm having some difficulty with a sorted & grouped listbox in WPF vb.net 3.5 that has an items source bound to an ObservableCollection.
What I want to be able to do is to retrieve a piece of data from the ObservableCollection items source depending on what item in the listbox the user has selected.I've almost got it working but because the listbox is sorted it does not match the index of the items source.
[code]...
As I previously mentioned, because the lstBox is sorted and also grouped the index's don't match up.Does anyone know how I can get the correct information I want from the List Source depending on the selected item in the list box?
How someone would select an item from a list box and click a button and have that item go into another listbox with it's price? I seem to be stuck on this part.
Here's my code:
I want to select the first option from the first listbox and I want to put it into another listbox along with the price of that item on the same line in the listbox. I can't seem to figure out how to that.
Public Class Form1 Const dcmPRICE_STRESS As Decimal = CDec(595.0) Const dcmPRICE_TIME_MANAGMENT As Decimal = 695
I'm using Visual Studio for the first time and VB. I have programed for awhile, but mostly new to windows related softwares. I have an access database connected to my test application and I am trying to display a drop down box with a listing of the item names in my table and the value that is sent off to my database is the actual item id. I can figure out the database part in terms of adding and editing, but I haven't been able to figure out how to display the full list. If I click the next button the list that is generated it displays the next item, but I would rather just list all items in the drop down box and remove that toolbar all together.
My program populates a drop-down menu with items dynamically at runtime. The items listed are the currently running windows and applications seen in the Windows taskbar. I was wondering if there was a way to retrieve the text of a selected menu item during runtime and use it to set focus to that application or window (which is the text of the selected menu item). I have looked at using the AppActive function to achieve this. I just don't know how to retrieve the text of the dynamically created menu items. Please keep in mind that I am an amateur coder so my code might look stupid. I have tried the following code block with no success:
Private Sub AppActive(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles CurrentlyOpenedWindowsToolStripMenuItem.DropDownItemClicked AppActivate((Me.CurrentlyOpenedWindowsToolStripMenuItem.DropDown.Items.Item(Text.ToString))) End Sub Should I be using the SetForeGroundWindow API instead?
So i've to write this program whose purpose it this:
Purpose: The user enters the item name and amount of the item purchased. The program calculates the tax for the item and the final total, and then displays these values. Tax on all items will be 7.75%.
And so far i've this code but it's not working:
' Program: Cash Register ' Author: Nidhi Shah ' Date: February 2, 2010 ' Purpose: The Cash Register Window application will ' computer the tax and the final cost of a ' purchased item.
Option Strict On
Public Class frmCashRegister ' Tax per item - used in multiple procedures Const _cdecTaxPerItem As Decimal = 0.0775D
my program downloads into a combobox every item(line) that is in a text file located on a server. Every line in the text file ends with "a)" or with "g)".
Now I just want to make 3 radio buttons:
- one that will allow the download in the combobox only the item ending with "g)" - one that will allow the download in the combobox only the item ending with "a)" - one that will allow the download in the combobox of both (I already know how to do).
How can I do so?
To download the entire list in the combobox I do:
Dim List As String = client.DownloadString("http://mywebsite.com/mytextfile.txt)Dim lines As String() = List.Split(New String() {ControlChars.CrLf}, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries)ComboBox1.Items.Clear() ComboBox1.Items.AddRange(lines)
I'm trying to automate a form process from a previous employee. One of the things that I have to do to achieve this is select a COM port from a dynamically populated list. I've looked around and the closest thing I could come up with is something like:
.cbbCOMPorts.SelectedItem(1) = True
While this compiles, the computer does not like this at run-time. It throws an exception out:
I have two (Telerik) TreeView controls, let's call them tvSource and tvDest. I want to drag/drop items from tvSource to tvDest. I have this somewhat working, but am experiencing two problems:
1) What it now does is moving the item. Instead I want them to be copied (from tvSource to tvDest), leaving the item in tvSource.
2) To allow items to be dragged from the tvSource control I have to enable DragDrop. With this enabled the user can drag/drop inside the tvSource control, which is not what I want. The items may only be dragged (copied) to an other control (tvDest).
Below is my code so far:
Private blnMouseIsDown As Boolean = False Private Sub tvSource_MouseDown(sender As Object, e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles tvSource.MouseDown
