On Form Load I populate a menu with all possible colors so they user can pick a color. However when they pick a color the forecolor of my label is not changed.

Alright inside of a combo box I have a list of colors and I want to change the background color of the combo box to the selected color...basically this... but im not sure what the problem is here anyone have some advice or is this not possible?

Basically i want dynamic code that will change the color depending on the items in the box.
I want to be able to use like a dropper to select a color that would display a html code output of the specified color picked. It would show the preview of the colors your scrolling through in the oval and a preview of what the color would look on text on a black background in the html section as html code. Unfortunantly I have no idea what the hell I'm doing, lol. I have been able to program simple programs that insert text in a text box pretty well including multiple colors of the text. But this is what I'm working with
Basically this is the whole form, theres obviously going to be a lot more which I'll try and figure out on my own. But this is basically whats going on with it. the color chooser button with have the dropper icon on it when I get the chance to add it.
I have a array of pixels. And I would like to Quantize them.
For Example
FF00FF,00FFFF stuff like that, but most are custom colors and are not a standard 256 color palette. So I need code to convert a color to a 256 color. I dont have any idea on how to do this, but thats why I came here. I do not want to use System.Graphics.Image.Palette or anything like that as this project uses arrays for images. I would like to if at all possible be able to convert a R, G, B color to 8bit, 16bit, 256bit and possibly use the HSL or NeuQuant method or something close to that, or maybe even some other methods of doing it. I do need to be able to do this for a single pixel, but I will also need a method for a array of them.

How do i change the Hover color of menu items and dropdown menu items to orange including the background color which holds icons in menustrip dropdown.....
I want the background of my form to be the same color as the window frame color that the user selects, even if that changes. I selected System->WindowFrame as my background color, but it always remains a dark grey, regardless of what I have my window color set to. How else would I achieve what I want? I assumed I was doing it the correct way. Do I actually need code that gets the system window color and then apply it?
View 4 RepliesI am new to VB, I am currently trying to make a basic Lottery application for me and a few friends. I have a couple of questions regarding that. Basically the reqs are:
1) we should be able to input for 2 lotteries (super 7 and pick 3) the amount of money spend individually. IN a separate menu Should be able to input the winning numbers for past draws, in a notepad or access.
2) Should be able to see the most picked 3 numbers in the previous draws for both the lotteries.
Question. Say I have menu entries: Lotteries- Pick 3 and Super 7. This is my main form. If I go pick 3, enter last draw numbers should it open up a new form or can I just repaint and work in the same form?

View 4 RepliesI am new to VB and what I would like is for the user to pick a item from the drop down box and from there; there would be a list that pops up to the side with that users pick list of attacks. I am trying to do this for every item in the drop down box. So, when the user changes character type it automatically changes the list to what the user picked. Below is two pictures one with the ?amazon? picked and the other with the ?sorceress? picked. To give you an example of what I am trying to do. My question is what the best way of doing this?

Where vb.net sais "F2 As System.Windows.Forms.Keys = 113" on mouse-over.But I want my users to be able to pick their own Key. If I make a drop-down box (combobox) and pre-define some choices in there (Like ESC or F3), all those choices are strings. How can I convert those strings to a System.Windows.Forms.Keys integer? Also, I'd like it to also be possible to "capture" a single keypress. So they'd click the "capture" button, and the next key they hit will be saved as the start/stop button. But I wouldn't even know where to begin looking for that one.
I want to create a simple form with 2 buttons, one to end the program and one to log the user off, I have done this successfully and have everything looking and working as it should. However, I want to force the user to pick one of these buttons before using the machine, my idea was to trap the mouse in the form so the only thing the user can do is select a button. My question is how can I do this?

I know that I can populate a menu using a .INI file but I was wondering if it can be done using an XML file. I would like to be able to add parent and children menu items.

Let's say I have a menustrip, which has a category "Colors" for example, and in that category there is an option of 20 colors, but I want only 1 to be checked at any one time, now to do that with what I know, I'd have to check every other one of the check boxes and uncheck them in every single click event, is there no cleaner way to do this?
View 5 RepliesOn my datatable (I hope that's the correct word) I have two columns that I want to store color values. I changed the data type to "System.Drawing.Color".
However it would appear I cannot simply type in the string (e.g: "Color.Black") to add it to the database. And when using an update SQL query and make it look for color values on the form, it wants to convert them to string.
Is it possible to store color values like this in this way or do I have use another method?

I have populated a ListView with currently running processes and with the help of JMC, been able to highlight specific rows based on memory consumption. However, I've decided to change it up a little bit and change the color of rows based on whether the process is owned by the User, if it's a System process, or if is a Service.
