VS 2008 Differentiate Processes - Change The Color Of Rows Based On Whether The Process Is Owned By The User
Oct 13, 2009
I have populated a ListView with currently running processes and with the help of JMC, been able to highlight specific rows based on memory consumption. However, I've decided to change it up a little bit and change the color of rows based on whether the process is owned by the User, if it's a System process, or if is a Service. I've already been able to determine if the process is a User process by utilizing the OpenProcessToken.

I was looking for some code that would change the colors of some rows in my datagridview but I could not get that to work. I have this code which should work but it doesn't, I could not find any replacements. I need to change the color of some rows.
Do While cnt > -1 If datagridorder.Rows(cnt).Cells.Item("DataGridViewTextBoxColumn16").Value.ToString.Substring(datagridorder.Rows(cnt).Cells.Item("DataGridViewTextBoxColumn16").Value.ToString.Length - 5, 5) = "Cease" Then
datagridorder.Rows(cnt).DefaultCellStyle.BackColor = Color.Red
End If
cnt -= 1
Loop

i have used following code to repeat a process creation/close iteratively dim vProcessInfo as new ProcessInfo For i= 1 to 100 dim p as new Process vProcessInfo.Arguments = some"+i.toString() p.StartInfo = vProcessInfo p.Start() p.WaitForExit() p.Close() Next i the above code worked for me successfully. but it takes too much time for process creation and dispose. i had to change process argument dynamically in the iteration. is there any way to change the process argument dynamically. or is there any better method to reduce time.

I am writing a manager for an app that we use at the office. I have successfully written launching, monitoring, and managing number of instances using the process class.Each file is the data output for one study. Each of the 2-8 instances of the application will run 1000 studies overnight. The fault would be that the file stops growing. I cannot just check for that, because it also stops growing when it done with one study. I need to be able to determine which files are being written by which threads (or vis-versa where i know which files are 'running' and need to see who owns them)?

I have a grid containing rows flagged with different priorities. I want to color the high priority rows red, low ones blue, etc. I'd like to set the shade based on a mathmatically calculated gradient rather than arbitrarily assigning colors to specific priorities. How can I extract a single color from a single point along gradient?

I have a datagrid that will get built at runtime. So i don't now how many columns I may have.I know I can do a column count, and get a list of the names. So don't think that will be a problem.What I'm trying to do is change only the CELL color, not the row, or the column, based on the value of the cell.Below is something I started with, but it clearly doesn't work.
' For Each row As DataGridViewRow In Me.QDGV.Rows
' ' Get the READY value from each row as we loop
' strExt = CStr(row.Cells.Item(4).Value)

I'm working with a DataGridView that I want to format based on the condition of whether or not a date has passed. For example: If the date in a cell is past the current date, that cell and its row are formatted with the forecolor red. My current code is below, and while it doesn't present me with any errors, it just plain doesn't do anything.
Private Sub dataGridView1_CellFormatting(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As DataGridViewCellFormattingEventArgs) Handles DataGridView1.CellFormatting
If Me.DataGridView1.Columns(e.ColumnIndex).Name = "Due Date" Then

I'm faced with another issue I would like to have resolved. I have filled my dataset with records from a table and successfully displayed it in a DataGrid. Next i would like to change the background color of certain rows or records in the datagrid using values from a column. E.g assuming my first column stores numeric values, I would like to have records where value in column greater than 6 have it background changed to a different color.

In an application for a Storage company, I have a form with 107 buttons in five Group Boxes. Each Group Box represents a Building and each Button represents a Storage Unit. They are layered in Table Layout Panels, bottom TLP has 5 columns, one for each Group Box, each Group Box has a TLP with 2 columns and 10 rows, where each button is located. What I would like to do is change the color of any button based on the results of a query.
Buttons are called btn1, btn2, btn3..... Text on the buttons is 1, 2, 3, 4,.... I have a table for the buildings and one of the properties is "Available" set as an intger and is either 0(No) or 1(Yes). I have a query that I run on form load that returns the correct results, to test I put a DGV on a form and set the DataSource to the DataSet returned. Returned is the "Available" Buldings Number(1-107)[code]...

I want the background of my form to be the same color as the window frame color that the user selects, even if that changes. I selected System->WindowFrame as my background color, but it always remains a dark grey, regardless of what I have my window color set to. How else would I achieve what I want? I assumed I was doing it the correct way. Do I actually need code that gets the system window color and then apply it?

In a VB.NET Web Site, the User Types syntax coloring doesn't work. What are potential causes of this? It seems to not understand the difference between a "User Type" and an "Identifier."
Note: C# works as expected.

I've got a couple of instances of a user control on a flowlayoutpanel. The user control has got a couple of controls on it, and very little / almost none of the control's original space is visible. I need to know when the mouse is inside the usercontrol. What then happens is that the border color changes (of a control in the user control), and when it leaves the control, it changes back to original state.
I tried the following:
Private Sub ctrDashboardWidgetFrame_MouseEnter(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.MouseEnter
Try
ShowControls()
Catch ex As Exception
[Code] .....
And it works, but it only works when you move over the original visible space of the user control, and doesn't work when you move over the child controls inside the user control. How I'll be able to achieve this to also work while the user is inside the full user control and not just it's visible space?

I am working on Treeview control and Gridview Control VB.NET08. In the Treeview i have Parent and Child Nodes. Like: [Code] Comparing the Parent Node text and first two digits in the Column values. I want to add rows inbetween the gridview rows based on the parent and Child Nodes. If i expand the First Parent Node Called "31" then according to the Number of Child Nodes (for first parent node(31) there are 5 child nodes.) add rows in the gridview.
These New rows should be add under the 31-xxxx. If i expand the 32 Parent Node based on number of Child Nodes, add rows under the 32-xxxx. [Code] I am getting the rows in the end of the Gridrow not in the Specific row.

I'm trying to change the background color of a node that is being hovered over while the user is dragging items from a list box.I've gotten both functions to work separately, but while the user is dragging, the NodeMouseHover event does not fire. Is there a way to do both?
vb Private Sub trvNavigation_DragEnter(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DragEventArgs) Handles trvNavigation.DragEnter
If Me.CanMove(e) Then
e.Effect = DragDropEffects.Copy
[Code]...
Note: CanMove() is a function I made that verifies the dragged data. Nothing else. And I will change "Color.Blue" to a system color later.

I have a ListView that I populate with running processes and would like to highlight specific rows based on the amount of memory consumption. After I add the processes to the list and and call the WorkingSet64 property of the process, I tried this:
vb.net For Each lvi In ListViewProcess.Items If proc.WorkingSet64 >= 2000 Then lvi.BackColor = Color.Yellow End If Next
Processes is the variable I used to grab the collection of processes. proc is defined as a variable and then used to loop through the processes.
lvi is of course the ListViewItems in the ListView.So, by the code I have above, I loop through the ListViewItems, and if any of the processes are above or equal to 2000, then I set the background color to Yellow.
However, it sets every line to yellow, and I can't seem to figure out to set only those processes that have a WorkingSet64 above 2000.
Would I need to loop through the processes and then set the background color of the ListViewItem based on that? That kind of makes sense to me, but if I do that, I'm not sure how to set it just for those processes. Maybe by setting a separate variable?

We are currently developing a WPF/Entity-Framework based application.One of our requirements was to allow the user option to select which environment(testing, training, or production) they will connect to when logging in.Each connection option points to its own database.In order to do this we are creating new EF contexts in the following way:[code]We have made sure that all new contexts are being disposed of once its job is completed.The problem is this: when the users are using the application we are seeing hundreds of SQL Server processes in SQL Server's activity monitor. Some individual users have upwards of 30+ processes associated when using the app. Once the user shuts down the app the associated processes all disappear - but while the app is running these processes seem to stick around.

I have written a windows service that is meant to launch a notepad when a specific action happens. The problem i have is that even though the service launches notepad, the actual notepad it self is NOT visible. I know that it has been launced because i can see the process in the task manager. By the way the process is listed as a SYSTEM process rather than a process under my user name (i believe that is because my process is a "LocalSystem" one).
