ok so i would like to have a key on my program i thought using httpwrapper to load a file from my site would be best cuz i chould change the key when i want but i dont know how to use httpwrapper fully ?
View 11 RepliesI have been playing with vbs for a couple weeks. I just installed VB2008. I would like to create a web bot that can do the following:
Load the web site
Log in with user name and password
Click on buttons within a game on the website.
This would be a game bot for a game similar to nordic mafia.
I am not sure if this is possiable but I am looking to build an application that will login to a web site, navigate the site and download files. I would like to do this all in code and able to run multiple instances of the program to get information from many different web sites. Is something like this possiable in VB.net?
View 3 RepliesIve got an app that holds a list of site we have, At each site there are a few devices. The idea is when they click on a site all the details for the site are loaded and then a second thread sits and pings each device to see if its live. Im trying to do this in a seperate thread so if they click another site while its still pinging them it doesn't wait before it switches site. This all seems to be workling fine except if you click through the sites quickly, when you do that it will eventually come up with

When i publish my program i choose to let the application check for updates via a website and if their is one update automatically when the program starts. Is their a way were on the main user form i can make it so that the user can change the update site with out me building the program again with the new site. I want to do this becuase the site i use goes down alot so when i changed the update url no one was able to download the update for the new update server.

The app works fine in every detail when installed on the development computer. But, on the target computer when the command button is clicked an unhandled exception occurs which says: System.IO. This works fine on the development computer. Do I need a way to code this as a relative path? If so,can you tell me how this is done?Throughout the app I have written relative paths to needed files using paths like (Open(Environment. GEtFolderPath (Environment. SpecialFoldder.Desktop) + "File Name). They all work fine when deployed.
I'm being asked to maintain several internal-only web apps for my company. For testing, after making my changes, I've created some staging sites which make use of separate databases. As such, if my users were to mistakenly use this site as if it were the production site, they may enter important data and wonder where it "disappeared" to thinking it was the production server.
I'd like to create a big banner of some sort across the top of the staging site (which ONLY appears on the staging site) to remind my users that they are on the test site. I'd like recommendations on the best way to do this, with the following considerations:

View 1 RepliesI have a program that logs into a secure site, looks on the user's home page to find a list of links to reports that can be downloaded and then selects each one - this is currently a manual process but with 100 reports a time it takes a while. The idea is that all the reports will download to a specified folder with generic names so the user can play with them on their own computer rather than having to search through them online.
Anyway, everything's gone well as far as using a WebBrowser to connect to the site, log in and get the list of URLs however it falls down when it tries to link to them. I have tried two methods:
1 - Navigating straight to the URL, this gives an error message every time (asking me to try again)
2 - Directly downloading the URL with a WebRequest class (below) however this doesn't download the actual file, but rather a copy of the login page.

I need to upload a file to an ftp site. Can I use a simple webclient or do I need to use ftpwebrequest? What are the differences?
View 3 RepliesI am trying to access a FTP secured site (SSL/TSL) and transfer a file in VB.Net using FTPRequest. When I try to complete the transfer I get an error back "The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure". However when I connect to the same FTP site with FileZilla UI, I can transfer files with no problem. Why can do transfers with FileZilla and not in VB.Net? Does FileZilla have its own Certificate?

If I build the solution on a machine that HAS a license for ActiveReport then everything is fine. If I build the solution on a machine that DOESN'T have a license for ActiveReport I get:

On the machine that DOESN'T have a license for ActiveReport if I remove the above lines from the license.licx file then everything builds fine. I always thought that if the license couldn't be found then the unlicensed version will be used but it wouldn't kill the build. How do I get this solution to build on any machine whether it has a license or doesn't?

I want my app to load a .exe file specified by the user, crypt it then save the crypted .exe file on a path also specified by the user. I need some guidance on this. First of all, I am currently using IO.filestream to store the .exe file. When I save the completed file (so far in development, that means a copy of the file as I haven't added encryption yet) the .exe file appear there alright, but without the icon (it has the standard/no icon instead) and it does not work. a) cannot delete row from the table, (using binding navigator but error)

I want to load a csv file (A comma delimited text file) into a datatable. I found the OdbcDataAdapter Class which looks perfect, but it says it is supported only in version 1.1 of the .NET Framework.
Is there a better way to import a csv file into a datatable? the first line has the column headers.

I have an issue where I need to load a fixed-length file. Process some of the fields, generate a few others, and finally output a new file. The difficult part is that the file is of part numbers and some of the products are superceded by other products (which can also be superceded). What I need to do is follow the superceded trail to get information I need to replace some of the fields in the row I am looking at. So how can I best handle about 200000 lines from a file and the need to move up and down within the given products? I thought about using a collection to hold the data or a dataset, but I just don't think this is the right way.[code]....
