Example: File a will take 1 hour to copy, File B will take 30 minutes to copy. Estimate Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes.

Feb 9, 2010Ive got an app that holds a list of site we have, At each site there are a few devices. The idea is when they click on a site all the details for the site are loaded and then a second thread sits and pings each device to see if its live. Im trying to do this in a seperate thread so if they click another site while its still pinging them it doesn't wait before it switches site. This all seems to be workling fine except if you click through the sites quickly, when you do that it will eventually come up with

User Can Change The Update Site With Out Building The Program Again With The New Site?
Oct 13, 2010When i publish my program i choose to let the application check for updates via a website and if their is one update automatically when the program starts. Is their a way were on the main user form i can make it so that the user can change the update site with out me building the program again with the new site. I want to do this becuase the site i use goes down alot so when i changed the update url no one was able to download the update for the new update server.

The app works fine in every detail when installed on the development computer. But, on the target computer when the command button is clicked an unhandled exception occurs which says: System.IO. FileNotFoundException:File Not found.My code behind the button is Shell("C:Program Files (x86)Internet Exploreriexplore.exe www,fidelity.com",AppWinStyle.NormalFocus)
This works fine on the development computer. Do I need a way to code this as a relative path? If so,can you tell me how this is done?Throughout the app I have written relative paths to needed files using paths like (Open(Environment. GEtFolderPath (Environment. SpecialFoldder.Desktop) + "File Name). They all work fine when deployed.
Label Staging Site To Prevent It From Being Used As If It Were The Production Site
May 18, 2012I'm being asked to maintain several internal-only web apps for my company. For testing, after making my changes, I've created some staging sites which make use of separate databases. As such, if my users were to mistakenly use this site as if it were the production site, they may enter important data and wonder where it "disappeared" to thinking it was the production server.
I'd like to create a big banner of some sort across the top of the staging site (which ONLY appears on the staging site) to remind my users that they are on the test site. I'd like recommendations on the best way to do this, with the following considerations:
IDE: Visual Studio 2008
Server: Windows 2003 with IIS 6
Language: VB.NET 2.0

Jul 30, 2010I have a program that logs into a secure site, looks on the user's home page to find a list of links to reports that can be downloaded and then selects each one - this is currently a manual process but with 100 reports a time it takes a while. The idea is that all the reports will download to a specified folder with generic names so the user can play with them on their own computer rather than having to search through them online.
Anyway, everything's gone well as far as using a WebBrowser to connect to the site, log in and get the list of URLs however it falls down when it tries to link to them. I have tried two methods:
1 - Navigating straight to the URL, this gives an error message every time (asking me to try again)
2 - Directly downloading the URL with a WebRequest class (below) however this doesn't download the actual file, but rather a copy of the login page.

When I try to complete the transfer I get an error back "The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure". However when I connect to the same FTP site with FileZilla UI, I can transfer files with no problem. Why can do transfers with FileZilla and not in VB.Net? Does FileZilla have its own Certificate?

But I have no certificate to load.I simply need to login, accept their certificate and upload my file.When I accept their certificate am I actually installing it on the client? Aug 14, 2009I am developing an Application in VB.Net 2.0. I have a module which would copy files from the Local Machine to a shared folder on remote machine. This shared folder on the remote machine is an authenticated folder. So, after searching on the Internet I found the following piece of code.[code]Another point to note is that when I connect to the File Share using Windows Explorer and then try to execute the application, it works properly.I am not sure why I am getting the error when I do not connect to the Shared Folder using Windows Explorer.Do I have to set some property so that the Credentials passed in the authentication are used.I also checked some posts that suggested setting up Mapped Drive to the Shared Folder on the Local machine and then to copy the file using IO.File.Copy function. However, I cannot use this as this Remote Folder should be only accessed through the application and not in any other case by the User. The users will not even have the credentials to this remote Server as it will be configured by the admin.So, Is there any way in which I can set this up and transfer the files from local machine to a remote shared folder?
