Jun 12, 2011How do I filter my datareport in vb 2008? When I run my form containing my datareport everything is being displayed. Is it possible to filter my datareport? How?

Oct 28, 2011I'm trying to access the SQL DB I have designed within my project in Visual Basic 2010 (.NET code seems to work for me 99% of the time) at runtime so that a user can select a method by which to filter a DataGridView.I have a fantasy football draft application that fills the DGV from a Table Adapter. The database is named NFLPlayerDataBase.mdf, the dataset used to fill the DGV is TabNFLPlayers11BindingSource1, the table adapter is TabNFLPlayers11Table Adapter1. The DGV is dgvDraft. Idk if that helps at all.If the user wants to look at only RBs while making their draft choice, I want them to be able to select RB from a drop-down and have the DGV be filled with the query that selects only RBs from the table. I have the drop-down already set and am able to fill in the DGV when the form initializes. I just can't get it to fill with the query request for a specified position.The table I'm looking to use from the .mdf is tabNFLPlayers11 and the column header that will be searched through the filter is "Position." Options are QB/RB/WR/TE/K/DST and will be selected by the user from a drop-down.I cannot find a way to even open the connection whenever I change the value of the drop-down.

The issue is in the last line. ID_Part is an Int64 data type filters(0) is a string so the system returns a "Can't perform 'Like' operation on System.Int64 and System.String" error message.As you can see I tried converting the data type, but that failed since it is encased in String.Format()- it's going to be a string no matter what, I suppose.It's almost 1:00 a.m. so I'm not firing on all cylinders.
Windows Forms - Data From User Input To DataReport?
Jul 22, 2011I'm developing a windows forms application using VB.NET. I'm currently working on DataReport (by Microsoft, not Crystal). Everything works fine when using DataSet as DataSource. But I have a question on how am I going to put data to my DataReport from a user input? Preferably when the user is on the act of printing(clicking the print button in the ReportViewer), a Form will pop-up and ask him for input. That input I'm talking about is random names of people, and we don't have to track their names so there's no reason to put it on the database.
Here's my simple setup:
MainForm.vb (Form)
MyReportViewer (ReportViewer)
MyReport.rdlc (DataReport)

If it is impossible to do it on the act of printing. Maybe on the MainForm_Load event or before the generation of report can do.

Currently my data is shown nicely at data grid view, and I successfully added filter: itemDataView.RowFilter = "item_id LIKE '" & Me.txtItem_ID.Text & while itemDataView is my dataview, and txtItem_ID is a text box to allow my users entering filter parameter.
This code runs nicely, but the problem occurs when a user enter special character(s) like an apostrophe (single quote " ' ") or an opening square bracket " [ ". Is there any way so that I can escape this characters? Currently I'm replacing each one of them using text.Replace()

May 15, 2010What i am doing is to enable a user to specify in a combobox on a form a threshold (integer). On a button click the code steps through a datatable until the cumilative value of a field in the records row are equal or dont exceed the figure specified. It then selects these rows and presents them in a datgridview in another form. This all works just fine.
What i am struggling with is undertaking a sort on another field before it starts the filter part. It appears to revert to the default order. Here is my

Feb 15, 2011This post is a continuation of my other post concerning 'List(of) with multiple comboboxes refill problem.'. I threw the list overboard and began anew with a Dataview.
So far I (finally) managed to get 2 comboboxes (will be more, but if it works for 2...) loaded with the same data using different dataviews (DataView1 & DataView2) so I can select a value from each combobox without the other following the selection.
But now I want to filter out the selected value from the other combobox.
This also works.
The only thing is this: If I select in combobox1 the value 3, and select in combobox2 the value 4, combobox1 will change to the value 2.
If I select in combobox1 the value 2, and select in combobox2 the value 1, combobox1 will change to the value 3.
It works also the other way arround. I can't seem to get my hands around the problem..
Does somehow the index of the items in the combobox play's part? I don't use the selectedIndex, so from my point of view it can't be..
