Want To Overwrite Current Rows In Database

in my program i am populating a datatable and then bulkcopying it into my database.however, i want it to overwrite a row in the database if 3 of the columns in the the row match. [code] so if the membernum, dateregistered and name match i want to overwrite the row.with the data from the bulk insert. in my program the entire database table is not populated and i think its to big to load it. [code] if the best method is to create a datatable with my database table how would i compare the rows and then overwrite the tables where there are matches in the particular 3 columns. and then update the database with only the rows that have either changed or the new ones. [code]

I have an object that looks something like this:

I'm then deserializing the JSON like so:
Newtonsoft.Json.JsonConvert.DeserializeObject(Of ExportOptions)(JSONString)
Problem is the values in the JSON are not getting into the CategoryIDs property? Instead I'm left with just the single value that was used in the constructor. If I change CategoryIDs to a List(of Guid) then the new categoryIDs are added to the list when I need them to overwrite the current items. The value added in the constructor is a default value and must be there in case nothing has been passed by the client.

How can I write a loop to run for each day in the current month and then check to see if the Dataset has a record that matches one of those days and take an action?

This generates too many rows in the table I have it building. Basically, every day gets as many rows as there are that contain data.I'm building a HTML table that gets mapped into a chart using jquery so I need a for everyday of the month.

I have created a service that will update a table. <foxpro to mysql>Before the update it will delete all the data in a table<mysql> and then insert the record from the dataset<from foxpro> one by one.I have more than 5000 records and it is very time consuming, now I would like to ask for some idea if there is a way in vb.net to only insert the data that have been recently added to the table<in foxpro> to mysql table. I have a small doubt: (VB.Net 2005, MS-Access 2007)Is it possible to add the current row from DGV to DB as soon as the row lost its focus..i.e. whenever i add a new row in DataGridView it should automatically get inserted into the database without pressing any buttons... I'm saving data to a database, data from a listbox and checkboxes.In the listbox, on the form, there are 20 records and then there are 20 corresponding checkboxes.I need to save all 20 records to the database so really I need 20 new rows. What I have managed to get working so far is that it will save the last record only.Here is the code that works:

I have a datagrid that loads at form time with the current database Information, when the user types in there username and password it updates into the database like a registering program, but the problem is i can only see the updated database when i restart the program. here is my code for INSERT [code] You'll notice im using Command Method instead off a Adapter, as i only had problem after problem with the adapter the command method seemed to be the better option as it worked straight away. When ive researched ive got information like used "SetDataBindings" also just so you know i don't have the option for some reason, also Refresh() Doesnt work either.

now i want to create a form to enter exam marks for the students in the following manner:

I am using a tableadapter to connect my project to an MS database. I need a a function which counts the number of rows in the table for something which I am doing. I have sucessfully used the count function to count the number of rows for my other tables, but when I tried to reuse it for another table, it wouldn't work. I get an error...
An unhandled exception of type 'System.ArgumentException' occurred in System.Data.dllAdditional information: Input string was not in a correct format.Couldn't store <AH25> in ProductCode Column. Expected type is Int32.
and this is the code which I used

It only seems to work if the first column is an integer datatype, which is the case for my other tables, but the table which I am currently dealing with using a string datatype. Is there another way to count the number of rows without using SQL statements or can I adapt my existing code in some way?

I'm fairly new to VB.net and WPF (and programming in general), so please bear with me. I'm attempting to write a useful database app for my business as a learning project. I did a draft in WinForms, referring to the (very good) Murach book, but am now trying to re-write it with a WPF UI and cleaner code.
I think I understand the basics of WPF binding, but am tearing my hair out trying to find a simple way of binding to parent details - which I would have thought was a very basic scenario, but I can't find anything on it. For example, let's say I havea 'Customers' table with CustomerID, Name, various contact details and then foreign keys CityID and GroupID;

And then just moving to the first record (as there will only be one). Is this a normal method of looking up a customer? I could also use this method by getting the foreign keys from my customer row and filling the different tables in the dataset all using parameterised queries, then just binding to each table separately - but again, seems very messy.

I am currently having trouble detecting the number of rows in the table in sql database. I have one column as auto increment, and one column that will show the blkname. But everytime I delete off one row, the program cannot run saying that there is no row at position "up to the latest number". Then, when I try to insert back the row again, the program also gives me the same error. I think the program probably cannot detect the number of rows correctly as it cannot like detect if there is 5 rows in the database and if you delete one row, it will give me the error. The above method is the same if I used the auto increament column and without.

My problem is probably ignorance as to how the DGV works, anyway, the problem.I have a bound datagridview which is used to collect user input. Data for 3 of the 7 fields is entered by looping through the rows and progmatically entering common data anfter a 'Save' Button is pressed:

I have a live database and an Archive database. I want to do a selct on the live and basically create a new row in the archive database table and insert all the columns then delete the row from the live. Here is the code that creates and deletes:-
