Web Services - Calling Webservice With Authentication Key
Sep 24, 2010
I'm trying to setup a connection to a webservice from VB.NET I'm totally clueless on how to perform this. I receive an overview of what their Soap can do and i also received a securitykey. I'm however not sure how to call this webservice using the securitykey in VB.NET. bit further using the layout of the service underneath. This is the soap layout:
I am trying to call this webservice asynchrounously in vb.net. So on the aspx side i added this property async="true". Now on the vb.net code side i have this function inside my webservice that i am calling. So -
dim as as webservice.webstring as.functionasync(param1, param2)
Web service uses SQL Server based authentication how to change to windows based authentication both web server & Database service resides in different domain .
i'm doing everything by the book, but the .NET client is simply not sending an authentication header when making requests to my (PHP) SOAP Web Service. I have verified this by logging the raw post data at the PHP end of things and .NET never sends any auth headers. This is the code I am running before making calls on my ExampleWebService Web Service:
ExampleWebService.PreAuthenticate = true; NetworkCredential myCred = new NetworkCredential("myusername","mypassword"); CredentialCache myCache = new CredentialCache();
[code]....
As I understand it, PreAuthenticate should force the sending of my HTTP Basic Auth Credentials on every request regardless of challenge. Does this only work with IIS hosted services?
I am building a client in VB.net for calling webservices methods from a partner organisation.[URL]../system.web.services.protocols.soaphttpclientprotocol%28v=VS.71%29.aspx because I can't get it to work using the Web References feature of Visual Studio 2010 (when I try to do that it turns the methods from the WSDL into classes).I have created a proxy class and can instantiate an object of that class no problem.
However, when I try to call a method which requires arguments I get this error:
Unmarshalling Error: unexpected element (uri:"http://api.service.apimember.emailvision.com/", local:"key"). Expected elements are <{}key>,<{}login>,<{}pwd> Does anyone have any idea why this might be? (If it's helpful I can post my code and the location of the WSDL.) (P.S. I can get the whole thing to work fine in PHP using ZF Soap classes, but for various reasons I need to get it to work using .Net)
Edit to add: I have used Wireshark to examine the outgoing and incoming SOAP message to compare them with the messages being sent via SoapUI, where it all works fine. What this has shown is that my VB client is sending a message where the namespace of the web service I am trying to access is declared as an attribute of the method, and not in the soap:envelope attributes.
I am new to VB.Net. I am working on a project where I have to Start another applcation from web service.
I am able to start the new application(Eq.Notepad) from form of my project. But If I try to start the new applciation from web service then The application is running in processes. I am able to see the application in Task manager processes. I am not able to see the application in front end. I have tried ProcessStart, PSExecute , bat files running and their all parameters but nothing happened.
I am sure I am missing something but I dont know what exactly it is.
I currently have a web application project that also includes web services within the same project. I currently have a requirement to call the web service asynchronously. Since, I haven't added the web service as a web reference within the same project, I tried to call the web service method using delegates and I see an exception "HttpContext is not available. This class can only be used in the context of an ASP.NET request" when I tried to access the Application property in my web service method call.
I have to send a request to Webservice and I have a working PHP solution, that I have to translate in VB.net
Here's the code working in PHP
//fill in the details of the contacts.userId is obtained from loginResult. $contactData = array('lastname'=>'Valiant', 'assigned_user_id'=>$userId); //encode the object in JSON format to communicate with the server.
[code]....
Naturally I imported a reference to a Json library and Imported (Imports Newtonsoft.Json)?
we had developed a webservice in vb.net,framework 2.0. We would need to rewrite this websevice in WCF with framework 3.5. Please provide some guidance regarding this and also there are many othersystems consuming our webservice url. Will this conversion have impact on the source system or does it involve any build activity for the source system to consume the url that will be developed with WCF method?
I have a search engine that will use a webservice to search through my database to find 3 specific things. I don't even know if it will work like this, but I have a dropdown list on my main page to select Product, Feature, Description. From what the user selects, the webservice should then go to an if statement to use the correct SELECT statement and find results for the search.
Will someone help me figure out how to fix what I've written to make it work? Please don't be too critical, I don't have a lot of experience. I have also been researching SQL Injection because I have a lot of code that is vulnerable so keep that in mind when you look at my code.
I can't get the blue squiggly lines to go away that are underneath the DropdownList1.Value instances on the WebService page.
WebService:
<WebMethod()> _ Public Function GetCompletionList(ByVal prefixText As String, ByVal count As Integer) As String() Dim Feature As String = DropDownList1.Value Dim Description As String = DropDownList1.Value Dim Product As String = DropDownList1.Value
[CODE]..........................
Default.aspx page - Here I need the dropdownlist to tie to the database somehow.
I am trying to get subsonic to run work in a webservice I am not sure how to return the data. I only get the word Object in my results when It return anything instead of values. What am I missing?
<WebMethod(Description:="Method to retrieveCptCode subsonic List")> _ Public Function GetSubCptCodes() As CPTCodeCollection Dim coll As CPTCodeCollection = New CPTCodeCollection() Dim qry As Query = New Query(CPTCode.Schema) coll.LoadAndCloseReader(qry.ExecuteReader()) Return coll End Function
I am invoking a webservice and got this error..Do anyone know what is the exact problem..System.ServiceModel.Security.MessageSecurityException: An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was received from the other party. See the inner FaultException for the fault code and detail. ---> System.ServiceModel.FaultException: An error occurred when verifying security for the message.
Is there an easy way to schedule a webservice that was created in vb.net. Would I need to create a .asmx file or do I create an executable in vb that calls a webservice?I have created a webservice using SOAPUI 3.6.1. would it be easier to schedule that instead of creating a vb app.
I created a website that contains a Webservice that transfers data to a windows application Using a collection, however, I get this Error that says that anything that inherits the ICOllection, it must implement Add(System.Object)
Writing a VB app that uses a webservice. The URL for this webservice will change based on where the app is running from so I need to change it at runtime. I see that by default the web reference URL has its behavior set to "Dynamic" which means I should be able to change it at runtime, but at the same time the app.config file has the Scope set to "Application," which means it's read-only at runtime. I'm looking to use My.Settings.WebServiceURL = "new url" but in order to do this the scope has to be set to User... I think. But if that's the case then what does the "Dynamic" behavior do for me? Can someone give me a code example of how I can change this at runtime?
I have a vb.net web application running on a local server with IIS6 installed. I was using Integrated Windows authentication for allowing uses to access the data in the application which is a combination of flat files on a local directory and db information. That worked great until another dataset was brought online and incorperated into the existing application. The problem is the flatfiles for the second dataset are stored on another server. So, although user could see the file files in the application window, if they attempted to open one it would say access denied on the directory.
I explained this to our network administrator who explained the users didn't have access to that server (even though both servers had the same permissions) and that the application wouldn't work. The only way in which I got it to work was I had to Enable Anonymous access and use a windows user account for that access, which works. However, the application requires the users NT account for various reasons. How can I get this to work with Integrated Windows Authentication?
When I try to use Windows auth, the pop-up tells me: X website required login for Y domain. How can I hide the website name? And only show "You are required to login first" text on that pop-up?
I have a .NET application (mix of C# and VB.NET) where I would like to display a Windows Login Dialog box (or my own dialog box) and authenticate the user using Windows Authentication. Per requirement, I need to ask the user to authenticate after AT LEAST a minute of being idle. I would prefer a .NET native way of doing Windows Authentication but interested in other ways...
The user must submit his username and password. After 3 unsucessful trials, the program must terminate. It is required that I use the for loop structure. I don't know if i'm making it right. Here's the code I've done :
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim c, d, f, g As String Dim a As Integer
how to use Windows Authentication in a WPF app. I wouldn't have thought that it would be any different than in any non-WPF app, but it seems that it is. I want to go into my project Properties -> Application and ensure that Windows Authentication is on, but that option is not available in a WPF app (as the following document confirms).
[URL]
If I ignore all that and just look at My.User.Name (VB), it is empty. This tells me that somehow Windows Authentication is not enabled. My plan is to use a PrincipalPermission attribute to restrict access to certain parts of my app (or perhaps the entire app, by applying it to Application_Startup()).
I want to use windows authentication in my c-sharp desktop application.where I cloud use windows create new users service and allocate local storage space.
