View 1 RepliesI have a problem with a large application that consists of windows forms mainly, but some WPF windows and controls (we also use DevExpress controls v9.1). The problem is that the application sometimes hangs when it runs in a remote desktop session, and that session gets locked due to inactivity, and the user comes back and unlocks the session. The hang seems very similar to the hangs you get when accessing GUI controls from a none GUI thread, but I'm pretty sure that's not what causes the problem. (We had a lot of those problems earlier, and have fixed all multithreading problems we were able to find. And the hangs now never occures when the application runs outside the remote desktop environment.)
I've done a lot of research on the problem but I've still not found a clear point to what causes the problem. However, I think there might be a problem related to some combination of remote desktop and .NET framework. The reason for this is posts like this:

View 2 RepliesI have a production application that I always want to force focus on. Sometimes the users will accidentally click off the form and the blue focused window will turn gray. I have a timer that fires every 30 seconds and I want to programatically give focus back to the form so that it goes from gray back to blue with focus. I've tried using the .focus event and the .activecontrol property but none of those seem to work and I'm not seeing any other viable options. I'm using Visual Studio 2008 in VB.Net.

the combo box style 1 has both the drop down option but also a manual entry option. I need to know how to code it so that when you manually enter data, it takes that data and places it in a text message "The shipping charges for "data" is $15" displaying in a text box. When switching to a new desktop it starts a new instance of my app in that desktop (works) and on the form load event it says process.start("explorer.exe") <- here is the problem. It only shows a window not the actually bar.Also this may be important it shows the window, but when I navigate to explorer.exe 'C:Windowsexplorer.exe' and open it there. The explorer bar does show up.

1. I have read that keeping Option strict on and Option infer off is good practice and will insure your code is tight and properly written. I would like input regarding this, pro's and con's from those who are in the know.
2. Having said that, I have set Option strict on and Option infer off in an existing program I wrote (that was working perfectly mind you) with them off and on respectively. I went through and cleaned up all the errors on the 'need AS' and casting of variables, but one is leaving me a bit put out.[code]

When they click on the email link, it should load the email xml iformation and place that info in the tb_html.text and navigate. I keep getting a null exception and im not sure what going on here. I'm working on one of my applications and I'm trying to find a way to use the "Go To Desktop" function that goes directly to the desktop without minimizing any window (This can be achieved by clicking on the Win + D buttons or on the desktop icon in the quick launch toolbar), but how can I activate it using vb? View 2 RepliesI have to take over a project written in vb.net, which contains more than 400k lines of code written in option strict off mode. I want to build it under option strict on first before I do anything else -- which maybe converting it into C#. I found there's thousands of lines of code raises compilation error, mostly are about implicit type casts. Is there any tool would help to make it compile under option strict on mode if I don't want to correct every single line manually? Because it's really painful to add CStr/CInt invocation into every line of Code myself.
