I have created a tab control and few forms. Each form opens in a separate tab when a button is clicked
I have take care so that the form does not open again in a new tab if its already open. But I am having trouble bringing the tab to focus.I want to Select the From in the tab and bring it to focus if its already in the tab list.

i am using a tabcontrol with close button.i have 4 tabpage and i call each tabpage through menustrip.

i can open and close it without any problem. my problem is that how can i determine if the tabpage is already open? bcoz for example if the tabpage1 is already open, clicking MainTab.TabPages.Add(TerminalPage)"for tabpage1" this will add another tabpage named terminal page.

I am using System.Windows.Forms.TabPage to store an entire TabPage for later use in My.Settings. Here is a brief description of the application.
I have a TabControl that has 3 tabs. One for user input, another tab for equipment settings, and then a final tab for Oven settings. On the user input tab, if the user de-selects the checkbox for Oven, the oven tab is saved to My.Settings and hidden.
I can then run the application without oven control. After running, lets say the user would like to re-run, this time with the oven. They go back to the input tab and re-select the Oven checkbox. However, the Oven tab doesn't re-appear. When stepping through the code, the is nothing stored in My.Settings for the oven tab page. Why not?
Also, I can open the application, and check, then uncheck the oven checkbox and the tab is hidden, then returns. I can do this all day. However, after running the tab will not return.
If I enter a data in a textbox, I want my listview to select the same data entered in the textbox. Example: I have a StudentNumber column in my listview and it has data on it (ex. 123456)
I will enter 123456 in the textbox. The ListView must select 123456?
In the middle of converting VB6 code to VB.NET, I need to replace the following code that intends to close all open forms remaining in the application.

I have a VB2005 winforms application that will loads city data from my database table. This is to ensure that the user enters the correct city spelling, in order to receive an accurate quote. Currently, there are about 150K cities that are being loaded to the dropdown listbox on page load. It takes about 30-40 seconds for that page to load. My initial thought was to allow the user to select the state first. Then load the city values. But the user has the option of going back and requesting a quote for a different city / state.

At design time, however, a different editor pops up which allows one to choose an image from resources.I'm guessing I could run some kind of program, then open up the image editor, from the property grid, and see what new windows/classes have been created?

This works fine. But when the grid is dropped on a TabControl tabpage, the ctrl-tab looks very different to the sub above. e.keycode is seen as controlkey {17} I realize that by default cntrl-Tab moves between tabpages. I need to override this behavior. My thought is I probably need a subclass of the tabControl which will pass the keycombo through just as the form does but I confess to being clueless as to how to accomplish that. I tried to override the onkeydown of a tabcontrol subclass and just issuing a return and not and base call to onkeydown if the ctrl-tab combo was pressed but it seemed to see the e.keycode as controlkey as well.

Anyone can help me? i have several active windows (msWord, notepad, windowsmediaplayer) , and when i run my vb program, it will do calculation then copy the calculation into one of my Word file that already open. i know how to copy the calculation, but i dont know how to select the Word file that already open.

Alright I have a DataGridView, where the user can click on the column headers to sort. When they add a new row while a sort is applied, the record isn't created until the moment they validate the row(which they cannot do till they exit the newRow). How can I make the row be selected once it is sorted?The DataGridView is databound.The selection mode for the grid is full row.I'm using VB.NET with SQLite database backend.I suspect I need to use the RowsAdded event, or DataBindingComplete events. The records in question do have a unique GUID attached but it is NOT visible in the DataGridView.

So I've made a program in VB 2010, and it has three comboboxes and a button to view. Now lets say my first combobox is "Type of website". The options are "search engines", "social networking" and "news". The second combobox values would depend on what the first combobox value is selected, like if it was "news" the options would be "technology", "uk", "us", and "world".
The third combobox would then use the values in the first and second comboboxes to give even more values, for example if it was "news" and "technology" the values would be "engadget" etc. Then the view button would open the selected website in an internet browser. How would I code this?
I am having a funny problem with OpenFileDialog that I just cannot solve. Using VB.NET 2008 Pro.
Problem: I run my program and click the menu item associated with this OFD and the OFD opens fine. When I select a file and click OPEN the dialog disappears then reappears. I click OPEN again and it disposes itself then loads the proper file into a form. The same thing happens with the CANCEL button as well.
Question: How do I go about coding the OFD to open a file that has been double clicked on thus bypassing dialogresult.OK . I can't seem to find an answer to this.

View 9 RepliesIs it possible to set a project default for VB.NET winforms projects so that the default Modifier for controls added to winforms is Private (not Friend)?I know there's a "modifiers" property in the properties window so I can set it for each individual control however I would like to change the project so from now on myself and other developers have to specifically decide to change from friend to private. (Which I would strongly discourage them from doing).I believe there is no way of doing this, but on another forum a while ago someone mentioned it would be possible with an add-in (but didn't name the add-in or where to get it).

View 1 Repliesi am creating a web browser to make something i do at work a bit easyier to manageits a form with a few tabsi need each tab on form1 load, to start individual .exe's that i have already created.these .exe's are simple web browsers that are automatically navigated to a website with a asp query for loginthe website for each tab is identical only the login asp querychanges.the reason for this is i cant use a single .exe otherwise it retains the login and i get identical logins on each.
