Binding Navigator Controls Are Not Working Properly?

Mar 23, 2011

I am using Visual Basic Express 2010.

I have programmatically set up a Datagrid and binding navigator etc., but I cannot get the movenext, movelast buttons to actually hook up to the Data on the Datagrid.

I have tried to set up an addhandler for the BindingNavigatorMoveLastcontrol, and although I can get the BindingNavigatorMoveLastcontrol to display my messagebox
WHICH IT DISPLAYS TWICE FOR SOME REASON I cannot get it to actually move around the Dataset, or any of the other navigation properties for that matter.

Binding Of DatagridviewComboboxColumn When Using Object Binding

May 29, 2010

I use objectbinding to display client data in a datagridview. The datagridview also contains a counry-column allowing the user to choose the country of the client.Unfortunately, databinding of comboboxcolumn does not seem to work if an own business class is used. Using a simple collection instead works well.Copy the sample code into a new windows project and the programm runs fine. Then comment and uncomment the two lines with "XXX" and the code will fail. Why and does anybody know how to make the sample code work by using the business object class(variable named "newClientListVariable" in the sample)? [code]

Early Binding Late Binding

Aug 19, 2009

I started programming in VBA, then graduated to VB6, and I am now using VB.NET 2008 Express.I have read, in the various posts, that I should keep Option Explicit and Option Strict both on, in order that I use correct VB.NET code and not VB6.I am trying to do that but am totally confused with the results of one of my programmes that was running perfectly with Option Strict off, but now advises:Option Strict On disallows late binding. To me it appears that I am using early binding, but to be honest I am not clear on the binding situation. I have checked through a number of google items, and a number of this Forum's items without seeing the light.[code]

VS 2008 Cannot Seem To Get A Working Filter In Working Order

Jun 18, 2009

It appears that my favorite thing in the world is tackling projects that are beyond my current knowledge and abilities. I have a little project that I am working on which is a simple image viewer stocked with (upon completion) your standard Load..., Next/Previous, Zoom In/Out, Actual Size, and Full Screen capabilities. However, I am running into a few snags:

(1) I've been able to get my "Load..." button to display a file dialog box, but I cannot seem to get a working filter (with which only image file types are allowed to be selected) in working order.

(2) I have a PictureBox object (entitled PictureBox1) that displays the image selected via the file dialog box, but it loads images in their full size (1:1/100% zoomed) state without scrollbars, etc. to allow me to navigate the loaded image. I would like to have it load the image, initially, to fit within the dimensions of PictureBox1 and from there be able to zoom in/out via my "Zoom In/Out" and "Actual Size" buttons and be able to scroll if the zoom level is beyond the dimensions of PictureBox1.

(3) It dawned on me that I haven't the faintest idea how to get my "Next/Previous" buttons to allow the user (me) to navigate, in succession, the images contained in the folder in which the currently loaded image is stored. [code]

If it is deemed that this thread is inappropriately requesting help, I ask that it be locked/deleted quickly as I recognize that this is a large community with many discussions going without need of unwelcome posts.

Binding To A Combobox?

Jul 17, 2009

I am trying to add 2 databindings to a combobox. 1 will bind to the text, andthe other one will bind to the selectedvalue. However, I am only able to add one databinding to the combobox.

cmdCustomerID.DataBindings.Add(
"Text", TblCustomerBindingSource, "strCustomerID", True)
cmbCustomerID.DataBindings.Add(
"SelectedValue", TblCustomerBindingSource, "idxCustomer", True)

This is what I have done. Only the selectedValue DataBindings.Add is being captured.

Binding When Dll Is Not Available In Bin Directory?

Dec 11, 2009

How can I successfully compile when a secondary projects dll is not available to the primary project during compilation? I don't want to have the secondary projects dll be absolutely necessary but rather have it used only if I explicitely call for it. For example, I have ...

[main project]
Dim thisArr(,) As String = SecondaryProject.Reports.listReports()
[secondary project]
Partial Public Class Reports

[code]....

Of course when i compile, and I have removed the secondary projects dll from the main projects bin directory, i get "Type 'SecondaryProject.Reports' is not defined."

How To Use Data Binding

Dec 12, 2010

I have produced an Access database and a dataset linked to the database, and am working on a form in VB to enter data to this database. This form was produced by dragging the required fields from the data sources manager to automatically bind to the dataset.

I am attempting to use some radio buttons to allow users to select their gender on a form. I do not know how to take the results of selecting either radio button and upload the user's selection to the dataset, which would then be uploaded to the database.I also attempted to use a ListBox and ComboBox for some other fields, but they do not seem to work as they should, since when I attempted to press the handily provided "Save" button, I was provided with an error to the effect that the boxes appeared to be empty.

Proper Two Way Binding?

Mar 21, 2010

The problem I am experiencing has to do with using DataGridView.Member to access a BindingList.

My app has a UserControl called MaterialsControl, on it lives a DataGridView name dgvLineItems. Using the designer, I've set the DataSource for dgvLineItems to the MaterialsControl. MaterialsControl also has a "Items" Property. "Items" is a BindingList(Of LineItem). dgvLineItems.Member is set to "Items." The LineItem class implements INotifyPropertyChanged

Presently, when I add anything to Items, the DataGridView does not show any changes.Alternatively, when dgvLineItems.DataSource is set to Items (which to my knowledge can only be done manually), anything added to Items appears in the dgvLineItems.

Just for clarification, the DataGridView I'm using is for output primarily, the user will be able to delete values from the view, but not edit them. Insertion is done through an event handler.

.net - Binding Textboxes To A Table?

Jul 6, 2011

I have two tables that are related to each other in a 1-1 relationship (each row in the main table has exactly one corresponding row in the second table).I also have a winform in which I'd like to show the main table in a datagridview, and for each row selected in the grid to show the fields of the corresponding row of the second table in various textboxes below the grid.

I know how to bind a datagridview to a datatable. But I'm not sure about binding several textboxes to a single row in the related datatable. I don't know what is the best way to implement it.I'm writing in VB.Net (but can read some code in C#), using VS2008.
