It is probably due to my lack of understanding on how browsers process HTML tables on submission to the server.If I have a <HTML> table or an <asp:table> control on an aspx page and I add rows to it client-side using JQuery / Javascript, why can I not include these added rows in a post-back to the server?
I've been trying to get this to work and it looks like I can't do it based on the answer to the previous question. But can someone explain why this is the case? The table itself can be returned in the post-back but the only rows present are the rows that were part of the table when it was sent to the browser originally - it does not include the rows added by the browser.there was a way to include these new rows in the post-back, the same as any client-side user input?

Now I want that all the rows should be columns and columns should be rows.I have 2 options: Either 1 I can directly convert grid to columns and display it, or 2 I can convert the GridView to html and then write loops to convert. I want to do this using visual basic(not vb script) in a codebehind page for and aspx form. everything i find on google tells me how to save the file on my computer or to a server on my system. This server exsists on a hosted website and I don't have access to the permissions on that host.

Sep 2, 2009I have a very large text file about 4 million lines that I would like to separate into several small text files based on the strings contained in the first column of the text file. I want to open the large text file, choose the lines that apply, create a new text file with a name that has a number at the end of which will match up with the value in the first column of the text file. I want to then copy the applicable lines to the new small text file, save and close it. I'm not sure how to go about doing this after opening the large text file and using the readline method. What if the folder does not exist? Do we have to create it? I want this procedure to be general, as there could be up to 25 million lines in the text file.

I am attempting to fill a form with multiple rows from an access table based off of a parameterized query. My query works fine but I don't want to return one row at a time, I want to return all rows that match my query in multiple text boxes. I know that I can use a datagrid view to accomplish this, but I would prefer the look of a textboxes on a form. I have read through many books and searched the internet forums but think I may just not know what to search for as nothing has worked yet. Can anyone point me in the right direction. So far I have tried setting the text box value to the row().item(), creating a different dataset for each row, and even setting variables for the results of the query to then be passed to the text boxes. Since none of this work, I don't really have any starting code to post. If I could just get a starting point I could work from there, so don't feel the need to code anything for me, just set me in the right direction.

Apr 16, 2011I've got a program which displays data in a listbox in five columns. All are separated using one or more ControlChars.Tab. I want to write these columns to a text file, however, when I do, my columns lose their alignment. I can change alignment so that it displays nicely in text file, but then it is off in list box. Is there a way to get what I see in my listbox to display the same way in a text file - maybe a different way of separating my columns (not using ControlChars.Tab)?

I would like to combine each of the 5 rows of the single description into 1 row. so for example the 10 lines below would be combined into 2 rows so that I can then import into SQL server and clean it up.
