I am trying to write a program using arrays. The issue I am having is I want to use an array where not only can I use a string value but a numerical value as well.please keep tha answers simpl as I am becoming very frustrated and starting to think progamming is a waste of time
View 2 RepliesI have to write a program using 2 parallel arrays representing grade point and grades. The grade points range from 0 to 500, however, we are only to use the minimum points per each letter grade in " points " array. This is shown in the code below. You then enter a number from 1 to 500, representing the grade points, and in turn it spits out your letter grade.My problem is this. When I enter a number, say 200, I get a letter " D " grade instead of an " F " grade. It appears that every number range I enter gives me one letter grade less than what it is supposed to be. Also, any number 450 to 500, representing an " A " grade does not even register in my Grades Label.

i created a list of picturebox arrays in my program :

and i used this code to add them:

the above code works the pictures are created in the form but now i want to write events for them, for example in the 'Click' event a messagebox shows. i don't know how to write the procedure i have tried this but it didn't worked :

I've been making a program whereby users names and numbers must be stored in external files. At the moment I can get the names to read and write to a file with these lines:

Where each line has a name, a seaparator (,) and then the corresponding number.
When the program loads I would like it to be able to access that file, and store all the names into an array named ExistingUsers() and all the Numbers into an array called ExistingNumbers(), and then when a new name is added in the textbox, it is assigned the number "100" and placed at the end of the array, then when the application quits OR straight away, the external files are updated.
I Have a complex Class Structure that holds a large amount of data in the form of multiple nested arrays that I want to save to a file and retrieve everytime I use my program.. How do I do this? I am using VB10 Express.

View 20 Repliesi have to write a program for my VB class that consists of a resistance checker program. I've searched like a madman to help me through this and I have found nothing >. The program consists of 2 combo boxes, the first one is the nominal resistance drop down list of the numbers :100, 150, 220, 330, 470, 680, 820 and 1000. The second list is of the tolerance numbers; +/- 0.4%, +/-0.6% and +/-0.8%. Now what i want to do is select a number from the first combo box and select the tolerance level of the second combo box and i input the resistor of said value into the text box. when i click the check resistor button it should display a message saying if the resistor is in or out of tolerance. For now I have the form all laid out and the values inputted into both combo boxes and i can go to run the program i am able to select said values. Now my problem is trying to get the right code so that i can check the resistors value.

Okay so I am making a program that: allows the user enter the number of customers served for each of 12 months into an array. The application should calculate and display the following statistics: total number of customers for the year, the average monthly number of customers, and the months with the highest and lowest numbers of customers. Use inputBox to get user input. Do not accept non-numeric or negative numbers.
The problem that I am having is that I do not know how to display which was the best and worst month. I imagine I need something that targets the highest/lowest number and finds the text in the corresponding index but I'm not sure how to do this.
How to remove unused arrays from a program? The array is has an upper bound of 19. If the array isn't full, I get a null array error.

In VB6 I load a recordset containg all of the records (6 fields per record)in a table into an XArray and then manipulate the records in the array and then write them back to the original table. The array issorted by the first field (1 to maybe 8000 or more) I need to find records in the array by an ID field and then move them (because of some external criteria that happens many times) from say number 400 to number 375. Then all of the other records between 375 and 399 were renumbered up 1 to fill the gaps left by the move.
The XArray worked well as it could find and also move to a next record easily to facilitate the revisions to each record quickly. Everything is done in VB6 in code and nothing visual needs to be shown to the user until say 2000 of these external changes are complete. What is the best, most efficient way to do this in the .Net framework in VB2010. Datasets, Dataviews. tableadapters, arrays. enums ?

I have a VB.net console app and I am opening a function in a dll written in fortran. I am passing 3 arrays through the function by reference. When they come back out the otherside they ahve all tunred to arrays of only one element And that element is 0.I read on the internet somewhere that when doing this kind of thing it is a good idea to only pass the first element of the array into the function.I tried changing my function declaration to accepting single elements rather than single dimensional arrays, and now the arrays are the same length before and after the function call, but they don't seem to be changing at all, so i'm not sure that this is working
