After Converstion Of 6 With Label Arrays To 2010 Program Fails With Stack Overflow?

Now I see that VB tells me that label arrays are no longer supported But I also see that VB2010 is providing the relevant logic to update each of the label array fields I was until today using VB2008, because after running this application it crashes with a report of stack overflow, I assume it is related to the label arrays, but have no idea. So I have upgraded to VB2010.
In VB2010, I note that the immediate window is reporting A first chance exception of type 'System.InvalidCastException' occurred in Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll Now I have used label arrays for showing columns of like data, generated by a for loop. What should I be using it its place, maybe a grid..

I'm writing this program in Visual Basic .NET to organize different fields of data, and I'm using profile slots through application settings to store the data for users. But, I ran into a stack overflow error in my SlotSelect.vb class. My best plausible guess for why this happens is that I'm using the wrong kind of variable container in the below sauce code, but my dilemma is that I don't know what specifically is going wrong.The code that the vshost is saying is the cause for the overflow was written from some code that I looked up on MSDN and other places for referring to objects in other classes, and I tried using other variants of it to see if it was any different. So far, nothing has worked, and it doesn't stop the error while compiling, much less in the code markup--it only catches it when it starts the application in debug after it finishes building

I have created quite a few web chats using VB.NET and ASP.NET and I'm just wondering how Stack Overflow handles messages being sent back to clients. Because web can only make requests and get responses back once, how does Stack Overflow handle messages? In my implementation I have a recursive loop that gets called every 1 second and makes an Ajax request to the server to get the latest messages, but I am thinking of using web services

I have a program that sends out mass emails. My problem is that at the end of the program....I keep getting a "Stack Overflow" error and I cannot figure out where this might be happening. This program is a VB.Net 2005 console application which is ran manually from the command line. The code below that I have posted is what sends the actual email. I don't think it has anything to do with this error but my question is this. Do I need the highlighted line of code? I'm thinking I don't since the mail object is already being disposed...but I'm not positive.

I'm making a downloader program in Visual Basic 2010, and it calculates the current download speed, the approximate time left and all that good stuff.But when I download certain files, the program decides to f*** up.The program stays still for a bit, and nothing happens when i click download button, but then all out the sudden the download starts like normal but an error message pops up and it says:
"Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow"As I previously said, this error message only pops up on certain files.Then I started to do some "error-investigating" xD, and i found out that this line caused the error msg:

remainingtime = ((e.TotalBytesToReceive - e.BytesReceived) / dlspeed) / 1000

That code is written in the web_downloadprogresschanged class.And SW is a stopwatch.I mean, it still downloads fully and such, but it looks ugly when an error message pops up even though it works.

i finished a project ive been working on for weeks or well i thought i had finished it.. in VS debug environment it runs fine doing its logics for hours without a problem but after publishing it as a standalone it starts throwing errors pretty soon. Took another look at whats going on in VS debug and the only thing that stands out is "A first chance exception of type 'System.OverflowException' occured.." that pops up every now and then so i think this is whats crashing my program outside vs. This poses 2 problems a) the code is around 2k lines/3 classes and heavily multithreaded and i have no clue where exactly this error gets generated, b) from my previous encounters with first chance exceptions they seem like more "possibility for error" instead of an actual error itself and very hard to track down

I have just upgraded(!) to VS2010, and opened my project from VS2008, which worked, and when i try to run i get a Pinvoke error due to stack imbalance. I am completely lost, on this error. I've got a dll, written in C++ (which I have the source code for and have compiled it under VS2010)It has a function I want to call in VB

as when I try and use it as follows I get a pInvoke error:

From reading around this is something to do with the declaration but I don't know what to change as this is the first time I've tried calling a DLL.

I am writing a program in which I need a particular set of buttons and labels to perform the same function... in a manner such that only the button next in order can be clicked (following which an input box pops up to offer options) I tried to define a new button and a new label object which is assigned the current label/ button.
B = Button1
L = Label1
but it doesn't work. I'm not sure if this assignment is allowing only the reference to be passed as I require (so that Button1 reflects changes when I write code for B, etc.) Also i learned that arrays of objects are no longer supported in Visual Studio 2010. Is there an alternative way to do it?.... If I could define an array of objects or something similar I think I'll be able to manage..

I have an application that deals with some rather large number values. I wanted the values to allow a roll over so I compiled the program with Remove Integer Overflow Checks turned on. The 32 bit numbers roll over just fine but the 64 bit unsigned integers still throw an over flow exception. Is this a bug in the compiler?

I have compiled a project with no errors and published the release version through ClickOnce to my website, almost 5 users are working ok with the application but on 2 computers the appliication fails when a button is pressed the exception is "Index was out of range.Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name : index" Note that no parameter is named index in my code and that the program runs fine on 2/3 of the computer's I there is an error why does the application compiles?Also i have send my project file to a friend to use on his own visual studio to check if it compiles and the errors appeared in the debuger despite that i havent managed to find a solution, i beleive that my code is probably ok. I'm using visual studio 2008 with Option Explisit and Option Strict On and all the deployment pc's have .net 3.5

I have this function for removing duplicates in arrays[code]...
What is happening at the moment is that the inner loop reaches the array.Remove(inner_element) line for the first time in its second loop during the second loop of the main foreach, reaches the inner next line and then just stops executing. There are no warnings / notices, the debugging step though just ends as if there was no further logic.

Frustration has officially set in. This is my first post here, and to be very honest, I'll admit that I'm a newbie VB programmer as well. I guess that's why I'm posting here, in hopes you super-porgrammer types might be able to help.
I've written a smallish VB program with 2010 express... the code uses some text files to gather various lists of numbers ( as part of a manufacturing Bill of Material ) that assiciate to PDF files of the same name. The intent was simply to view and print the gathered existing PDF files.
I have the program mostly working the way I want ( at home ), but when I bring it to work, it fails to open.
My home PC is a 32Bit Windows Vista Machine with Adobe 10.1 viewer installed.My Work PC is a 64 Bit Windows 7 Machine also with Adobe 10.1. I've sent the .sln and code to a buddy who is also running a 64bit Win 7 machine very similar to what I have... he is able to run the program. I've sent the same thing to my work pc and tried to run it. I get some crazy HRESULT error I can't make heads or tails out of... remember I'm a newbie.
I will happily post code if you guys are interested, but I believe that it isn't code related. What kind of things MIGHT i try to look for on my work pc that would cause this simple program Not to function? I've brought other programs I've written to work without problem. But this one has me stumped.
Other things I've tried:
1) uninstall and re-install Adobe... ( no change )
2) written a super small adobe viewer program at work... ( works )
3) tried to comple as "any CPU", "x86", and "x64"... ( does not work )
4) bring .sln & code files to compile and run at work... ( does not work, HRESULT err )

I am still a beginner programmer so keep in mind that what I'm trying to do is beyond my knowledge but I have no one to teach me Visual Basic except from what little I can learn off of the internet. Currently, I am using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition so my problem may be appear different if I show you any of my code.
I've created a program that contains a label and the words in the label form a question. Below that is a textbox with some text that has to be memorize for a play. Just think of the question as the previous speakers part. So far I've set it so that the words in the textbox are randomly removed and are replaced with a blank. I face with the program is that the user can't enter the answer because the blank is in the way.
Instead of putting a blank where the missing word is I would like to have some textboxes put there that way the user can enter the missing word and so that I can later insert some code that will let the user check to see if the answer they entered is correct.now the missing word is still replaced by the blank so I need to get rid of that and insert the textbox wherever the words are missing.

I created a class that I use for error logging. I have one method that accepts a parameter as an exception. With that exception, I created the error log and I write the message as well as the stack trace. With this, I'm finding that I'm not always getting detailed information. Usually, the stack trace shows me line number in which the error occurs, which allows me to pinpoint the issue.

I have an desktop application that references several dlls. All are targeted for .Net 3.5, x86. The applicaiton has been deployed for several years and was upgraded from visual studion 2008 to 2010 last year. I have made several changes to the app since then (as recently as last Thursday) with out any issues. Now, everything builds, but when I run the application, I get a type initialiazer error when one of the projects is loaded by the main application.
The error messsage is {"Could not load file or assembly 'System.Drawing, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.":"System.Drawing, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a"}.
There were no changes to this project since the last successfuly deployment last week, but today I am getting this error.
