I have an xml document. The description tag is enclosed in a cdata section. When I view the page in firefox I get the following error: XML Parsing Error: not well-formed It's erroring at this character (an empty white square and I don't know what the character really is). Is there a way I can get the parser to ignore these characters?

So I want my program to read a file, but sadly there are null characters in the text file. The program searches for strings and I want it, when searching, to ignore all of the null values and just the actual characters. Is this possible?

The sql command removes special characters but the textbox does not display the results because the returned results contain those special ones.For example if i type in 1234 the sql server will return 1234 and 123-4 but the autocomplete box will only show 1234. The code goes:

Here I'd like to remove all items from listItems, that are abc, no matter what case single characters of item are, including mixed case items. So in this example, every items should be removed

If I change pattern to match the case of item, then item #2 gets removed:
pattern = "abc"
listItems.Remove(listItems.Find(Function(r) r = pattern))
How can I find item in listItems, ignoring the case characters in pattern?
Essentially I am trying to replicate the Windows 7 (In-Windows) activation key TextBox form. The Form where it will auto capitalize letters, remove or deny all non alphanumeric characters except dashes every 5 characters that will be auto-input.I assume this can be done with a fairly complicated replacement Regular Expression but I cannot seem to create one to fit the needs.
This is an Example of what I have right now, but it creates an infinite loop as it removes all characters including dashes, than adds a dash, which changes the text and removes the dash again.

Not sure if too many people know this, but the following line will cause an error:
GroupName.Substring(0, 3) = "jt_"
....if the length of GroupName is less than 3 characters. I always thought it would simply return whatever characters in GroupName, but no, it errors. I must be thinking of the old VB6 days.So, I now have to change the code to:
If (GroupName.Length > 2) Then
If (GroupName.Substring(0, 3) = "jt_") Then
Note that the two comparisons need to be on separate lines. If they are on the same line, such as:
If (GroupName.Length > 2) and (GroupName.Substring(0, 3) = "jt_") Then then the code will still fail as the length command is executed at the same time as the substring command- which will cause the error when the GroupName length is less than 3.Just thought that those of us not aware of this should be!

I have two textboxes. I type in one of them and the text gets copied in real time into another textbox. There is one catch. I need to replace specific character with something else.
If I enter a quote " in textbox1, it has to be replaced with " in textbox2.

With the shape of really large characters such as numbers and alphabetic characters + others, is there a way to get that shape as a REGION please?Imagine a really fat snake forming the letter S or two rectangles placed together to form a large letter L or a T like the shapes in TETRIS.

Program works good, it is mixing characters good, but it doesn't write text to the file. It will write text in console, but not in file. Note: Program is working only with words that are divisible by 2, but it's not a problem. Also, it does not return any error message.
I'm making a custom control suited for handling passwords. I have created a control that inherits from a text box and I have implemented a lot of things so far. But what i want to do now is create a system so that when a user types It will display his last character typed for a X amount of time. So I don't care, it works. But can I just ignore this error ? without doing weird stuff like that :

Ok , I solved my problem by adding CallingConvention=CallingConvention.Cdecl, but what the question was about skipping exceptions, so and I still don't know if I can do it.
So maybe I need to tell some real reason to not be down-voted hard - sometimes it's matters for program to live even with hard errors occupations, but even sometimes you don't need to catch them. You need just ignore them...
I use TortoiseSVN for versioning of my large VB Project in Visual Studio 2008. Once in a while, when editing one of the many typed DataSets, VS feels like switching the position of the attributes

Can I prevent Visual Studio from messing with those attributes?
Can I enforce a specific ordering?
Or do I need some workflow within TSVN to ignore or revert such changes?
I wrote a small VB.Net Console app that scans thru the lines, sorting the attributes. It works on text alone as one cannot use xml parsing abilities without a massive increase in execution time and code size.
Does anybody know how to ignore a line(s) of code after a line(s) has executed. Let say you have a button1, and two CheckBoxes. By clicking once button1, cheheckbox1 checked. By clicking agin button1, then CheckBox2 checked. You will probably say that I can do that in diferent way, but it isn't the solution of this problem that I want. This is only an example.
View 11 RepliesI have set up my form using with the languages and I have store the texts in the resource. I have debug the project and everything seen to be fine. I found that there is a folder in the project bin folder. The folder was called zh-chs. I have changed the name from roject1.resources.dll to testdll.dll and moved to the bin folder. I have added reference in my project and I have deleted the zh-chs folder. Suddenly, I have found a warning sage.

When I run my program if finds fields fill's them in and submits, but sometimes the page does not have them fields and I just want it to skip them if not found so it continues otherwise it crashes.

View 2 Repliesll app build in VB 2005 that has a DLL. The app runs fine on 32bit systems but fails on 64-bit ones (Failed to load the assembly: BadImageFormat from the DLL). As I could not fix the problem I wish to somehow ignore this error so the rest of the app can run normally. When I am splitting the above data, the sal column values which already contains "," is splitting into 2 cells. I want to keep the sal column value as a single cell by ignoring "," in between numbers.
On the server side of my application I have a function like this:
