I'm having a weird bug with a TabControl that I've never seen before. Here's what I got:
A TabControl with 3 tabs. The first 2 tabs have an inherited DGV on them, and the third page is like a options page. The 3rd tab has a bunch of labels, comboboxes, checkboxes etc...
Whenever I play/start debuggings/run the app the controls of the 3rd page turn "invisible" on the design view. They are still shown in the app. Here are two pictures showing what I mean:
This is what the designer looks like BEFORE I run it: This is what the designer looks like AFTER I run it (Running app on the right): I've tried building/rebuilding/cleaning and nothing. If I close the solution and VS and reopen it, it will show but that's a pain to deal with.
I am trying to show or hide tabpages as per user choice. If user selects gender male then form for male in a tabpage "male" should be displayed and if user selects female then similar next form should be displayed in next tab "female"I tried using
tabControl1.TabPages.Remove(...) and tabControl1.TabPages.Add(...)
It adds and removes the tabpages but doing so will loose my controls on tabpages too... i can't see them back. what's the problem here?
I want to have all the tabs hidden/removed in my tabcontrol at runtime then only display the one I want to (cludgy workaround for having to show tabs in TabControls).
I've been playing with ways to parse through all the tabs and remove them but am just not quite getting it. I'm a COMPLETE newcommer to VB as I've arrived from RealBasic and am trying to get my head around it.
I have a tab control which contains other controls which I populate at run-time. I want to be able to hide certains tabs in this control and then make them visible at certain times. My understanding is that you cannot hid individual tabs in a tab control. All you can do is add them and delete them. If this is the case, is it possible to populate my controls in a Master TabControl at run time, then use a second tab control which is shown at the end of the routine, then add/delete tabs to this second tabcontrol and copy the populated controls from the Master TabControl to these tabs.
The idea being that I will create my tabs on the fly after the routine has run but I need the ability to copy populated controls held elsewhere into this tabcontrol.
I have a bunch of controls on my form and am wondering if I can hide some so it doesn't look so cluttered.I only wnt to hide them on the designer though and not at runtime. Any way to do this?
I have a form that searches a db. Some searches will always result in one row of data, others might return multiple rows. I want to have the data from a single row shown in text boxes and the multiple rows show in a datagridview is it possible to hide/show those depending on the amount of rows.
basically i have a form with loads of controls. So many infact it stretches the whole hieght of my screen.I only need half these showing since the rest are just a sort of 'log'I have seen ti done loads, that only the controls i want to show at start up are displayed then when some one hits a little button in the bottem it expands the rest leaving them showing to.
I'd like to design a Winform with expanding controls if that 's overly complicated. The idea is that I would have rows of information, each with an "Expand" button. On pressing the button, the rows underneath the selected row would move down and the controls that are associated with the selected row (some textboxes/ dropdowns etc) would appear. Vice versa when you click the "Hide" button.
Assume you have controls A, B, C, D and E all with a Visibility property. You also have states 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 in which various combinations of your controls would be displayed. Currently this is being handled by switch statements for each state: i.e.
Select Case PageState case "1" a.visible = false b.visible = true
[code]....
As you can imagine, this becomes a pain as every state needs a show/hide statement for each control. How can I refactor this so that adding controls and/or states becomes trivial? My first instinct is to extend the control and add a collection of states that it should display for but this sounds like overkill.
Edit:I was deliberately vague in my question in case this has other implications. In my current instance the "controls" in question are ASP Panels. Does that change anything?
I need to be able to programmatically create new tabs on a TabControl, add controls to them, and be able to update the controls in each tab from another function. I already have a function to add tabs to the control, and to add controls to those tabs when they are created, but I'm stuck as to update the controls after they have been created.EDIT: This is what I have to make the tabs and add the controls:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim tabpage As New TabPage tabpage.Text = "(empty)"
[code]....
I can't seem to get back into the account I used to post this question, so I have to post my follow-up to Tim's question in the comments for the previous answer as a new answer.Debug.WriteLine(TabControl1.TabPages.Item(2).Controls.Find("textbox1", True).Count) returns 0. The tab and the controls have been created prior.
What's the best way to clear values within controls on a TabControl, ie; textboxes, comboboxes, checkboxes, radiobuttons, etc. The code I've been using looks like this[code]...
I don't know what's wrong but in my code I can't show the cursor. .Hide() will succesfully hide the cursor but then .Show() does nothing.
If moveTimer.Enabled Then Windows.Forms.Cursor.Hide() Else Windows.Forms.Cursor.Show() : MsgBox("wdf")
Basically while the game is running, I need the cursor hidden. That part works, but when the game pauses, I need the cursor back and .Show() isn't working. I have a msgbox to check and make sure that the Else side actually executes when the game is paused, and it does so I know .Show() is executing.
I need to add forms to TabPages in TabControl, but I need to find bindings between a TabControl and TabPage, that means i want to add a Form to a TabPage which is connected to TabControl1.
I have been playing with the Windows API.A Windows application typically has a TitleBar (with a caption on it), underneath is a MenuStrip, under that a ToolStrip (with the tool icons on it), and under that the main application area.I want to be able to strip everything off, except for the main application area.I have found how to hide the TitleBar, using:
GetWindowLong (and passing to it the handle of the form, and GW_STYLE to get the current windows style)SetWindowLong (and passing to it the handle of the form, the InitialStyle, and ORing with it WS_DLGFRAME) how to remove the MenuStrip and ToolStrip to leave just the main application area?
Code so far:
Public Class Form1 Private Const WM_SYSCOMMAND As Integer = 274 Private Const SC_MAXIMIZE As Integer = 61488
I am using the Tabcontrol with autoscroll = True feature, when i make hidden controls visible on the tab there position is out of place, one work around for this is to set the scroll position to 0,0 by doing this...
I drag Tabcontrol.& add two tab pages. I have contextmenu Strip, dat i bound to tabcontrol.I select the ContextMenuStrip & set it to ContextMenuStrip1 Now i right click on tab headers.Suppose i right click on tabpage1,contextmenu is displayed.I want that when i right click on tabpage..I want to get the index of that tab..Even if dat tab page is selected.
I have the need to constantly use the TabControl but somehow its current look is boring, is there any tricks out there to make it more interesting? Or what are the alternative controls that I could use to replace it?
When I click the left or right arrow buttons on the keyboard my tabcontrol tabpage changes from one tab to another. How can I cancel the arrow buttons from changing the tab pages? In other words how can I disable the arrow buttons when the tabpage has focus? Is it possible to do this without extending the base class?
I am in process to develop an application for Windows Mobile 6.5 using Visual Basic 2005 and .NET Compact Framework. My problem is that I want to know if an instance of my application is already running and, in that case, I want to jump directly to that instance, without starting another one. I tried several solutions found on the internet but I think there are solution for desktop applications not for mobile applications because I have a lot of errors.
I recently moved my Application that was running off of Window XP and created in VS 2005 over to a box that's running Windows7.Now, when I try to debug, I can't edit. In the lower portion of the screen, it gives me this error: Cannot currently modify this text in the editor. It is read only.
Under Tools->Options->Debugging, Edit and Continue are already selected; so it's something else. Also, under project properties->compile I have it set to Cofiguration (Active Debug) and Platform (Active Any CPU).
i got error that is not familiar to me in the line with bold font... i'm using windows 7 with MS Office 2010 and Visual studio 2005 in this application
Basically what I have are two loops, one inside the other, that will run until the given condition is met. Exactly what I want. My problem is that I want to be able to use the controls, like buttons, while a loop is going on.
I originally did not think of this until I had built this part of my program, what I want to know is if there is a way to use controls while a loop is going on or if their is an alternative.
1)I know timers can be used to meet these goals, but they did not work out as I had hoped and using two timers (1 to represent each loop) I do not believe is efficient.
2)I have considered using recursion, but have found this may not be very efficient either and am not quite sure if this will do what I want.
These loops run as long as the number the user inputted. So it could theoretically run for 100,000+ times. I am not looking for speed, but it would be good if there were a faster method that allowed me to use controls while it loops.
How to Retrieve the existing vb controls from a running exe file [code]Application 2 should Retrieve the existing vb control names from a running Application1..Application1 may consists of textbox, combobox, radio button, checkbox, button etc..I am presently using Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition
