View 7 RepliesI have an add-in that creates a form, adds controls to it, then tries to add some more. But on the second attempt to add controls, they disappear. If I have an error in my code that gets displayed in a message box I can see the new controls behind it. When I click OK they disappear. If I have no error and step through the code, they are there according to properties, although I can't see them because the form will not display while in debug mode. When the program finishes, th controls that were created are gone. Perhaps I am selecting the form to edit wrong.Too bad there isn't any documentation (or any than can be found) that describes how to do this.[code]...
View 5 RepliesI experience very strange behaviour of a windows form written in VB.NET 2005.
The form contais DataGridView with data.
I minimize the form to Windows task bar, then I restore it. The form appears, but the DataGridView and other controls are not displayed. In order recover from this situation, I need to resize the form or maximize it.
Every once in awhile when I double click on a form in design mode (Windows Forms Application) that contains a tab control, all of the controls on the tab control disappear. I have to reopen the form to get them all back. In addition to this, the column order of my columns on any datagrid inside a tab control get rearranged when this happens. Is this a known bug and if so is there a hot fix or patch?
View 2 RepliesI have form1 and form2. A button on Form1 calls a thread background process (below). That process processes the command and when its done should close form2. I'm opening form2 within the current thread but trying to close it in the background thread. This is because if i close it in the current thread it closes immediately. I included the 2 functions below and what I have tried in the inline comments. Form2 is a simple form, basically just an animated gif. It is to show the user that something is happening(like a status bar) then close when its complete. I tried running different priorities instead of different threads but due to the results threading seems to behave the best. I'd like to keep access to both forms during the process, the pc, and screen refreshes realtime.[code]

Is there a way that I can get the app to close as soon as the dedicated task is complete, It will remove itself from the memory stick but if the X is hit before the process is complete the then the prog will remain.

I have MDI Parent Form and i'm going load all form as MDI child. Here i'm going to give option to "Close All" toolstripbutton in top of MDI Parent to close All mdi child forms.
Now i would like to check that On click of Close All Toolstripbutton , i have to close all mdi child form but except those form is on process, example, I have opened/Loaded 5 MDI child forms within MDI Parent Form.
Child forms are ( just for example ) ,
1. Customer details Form
2. Item Details Form
3. Import Orders Form
4. Stock Details Form
5. Production Entry Form
Here 3.Import Orders form is importing from Excel with 5000 records and 4. Stock details form exporting to excel.
So now if i click "Close All" button then i have close only Idle form i.e 1,2 and 5 but i should not close 3 and 4 since its on some process.
So Is there any .NET option to check that form in process/idle or do I have to check manually by having any Flags ?
i'm new to the VB programing world, actually to programming world in general, so before i start i have a question. I've heard that to run programs created in VB you need to have NET Framework on your comp, is this true?Cause i found somewhere on the web that you have a exe in your Debugging folder, and i tried running it on my friends comp which is without framework and it worked. Don't know if this was some error or something, and if there will be problems if i run them like this, so i wanted to ask professionals,
View 6 RepliesI have a project (Written in Visual Basic, using Visual Studio 2005) which has several user controls. I have had no problem setting it up where you click a button and it load a user control, but I cannot get it to remove the control that is currently open. For example The program opens on a starts screen, which has the choices, Control1, Control2, and exit. When you click Control1 button it should open up a screen to display an inventory. It does this just fine, but it does not close the main menu screen.
Here is the code for the initial startup of the project:
Public Class Form4
Public Sub Form4Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
Dim CtrlMain As New ControlMain()
With CtrlMain

I'm teaching myself vb.net. For my first project I am making a md5 dictionary attack tool.I know that there are alot of them but I figured it would be a good way for me to start out.Right now I'm looking for other methods of running the words through a function that I have created.
View 10 RepliesI seem to be having an issue with Building my application. THe programs builds just fine,but when you install the program and then run the program it wants to act like its configuring the program, prior to running the actual program.I get a windows box that pops up stating its configuring the program and then it runs.But it only happens when I access the program through the shortcuts that I have the program create when it installs. If I go directly to the program directory and click on the program there, it starts just fine.

What I am trying to do is dynamically create a bunch of dropdown lists and then I want to loop through them and update the database with those values, but the problem I am facing is that I create the dropdown lists, but then when I go back to loop through them they are no longer in the panel. I don't know why but when I am debugging I have a count of 50 controls in pnlTeacherSelect right up until I press the button that calls prcChoose.
[Code]...
Using ASP.Net MVC1 and am dynamically creating the html in a model that is then dropped into the view and rendered at run time.
My view is a single page that looks like this:
<%@ Page Language="VB" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage" %>
<%=(ViewData("Content"))%>
This dynamically created content is mostly dropdownlist boxes in the format of
<form method=post action="/questions/nextBatch">
<div id="text">What is your preferred drink?</div>
<select>
[Code]....
Is it is possible to perform validation on the dropdowns lists to ensure that a value has been selected? If any of the dropdownlists that still have the default value (the "please make a selection" text) the page is then redisplayed with the font colour of the question or dropdownlist box changed to say red?
I'm from the Webforms world and have made the switch over to MVC (which I really like!) and I know there are some pretty slick validation tools out there but you seem to have to account for them within the view itself.
I cannot pass a HTML helper through the viewdata of the controller as it does not render unless it has been coded directly into the view itself.
Also, I'm looking for a pure asp.net solution as I cannot use javascript due to accessiblity concerns. I can access all the values of the dropdowns without any problems throug the formscollection object but from there I'm a bit stuck.
I have added Following HTML in the Form:
<asp:Table runat="server" ID="tblFlightDetails">
<asp:TableRow>
<asp:TableCell CssClass="ASPTableHeader">
<dx:ASPxLabel runat="server" ID="lblFrom" Text="From" CssClass="LabelFont"></dx:ASPxLabel>
</asp:TableCell>
[Code]...
Now from Serverside code I have added 3 rows dynamically.. when ever page gets Postback.. all dynamically added rows get disappear.How can i get the dynamically added rows after postback??

What I am trying to do is create a form in code that runs while the BackGround worker is running.I created a form the normal way with a label and progress bar but I want to update the label with what is going on in the BackGround Worker.Doing it the standard way isn't updating the label on the form.So my next idea is to create a form in code which I have done, but now I can't remember how to add controls to that form at runtime.Here is the code I have so far.[code]So from here I have tried the CreateControl() and the Controls.Add() and neither one is working for me.
View 7 RepliesIm curently writing an app for windows mobile (so its using the compact .net framework)It has a loop which finds out how many images are in a folder, makes a picturebox for each one, then sets the .image property to the appropriate image. It also adds the name, size, location etc.What I dont know how to do is add a mouseclick event to it?I probably would have a subroutine already written in the code which could be used, or would it have to be a new one made for each picturebox?
View 1 RepliesSite is located at [URL] and the section in question is the "configurator" button on my top row navigation. Everything is written in the latest flavor of VB.NET and ASP 3.5, and I have a SQL2005 server available with my host. Here is the down 'n dirty of my dilemma:
During pageload, I get a list of all the parts in my parts table. Then I create an image object and 2 label objects per entry and place them in my fancy accordion pane control. Works great so far, I can get a giant list of pictures and text that's aligned how I like it (for now). Now - I really need a way to be able to have a visitor drag an image/label/label combo from the accordion over to a panel (or anything really) on the right side that is currently invisible. Once the dragged thing is dropped into the drop target, I would like it to fire a function or sub that I write in VB.
From what I've seen about jquery, apparently there is a way to make an element on my webpage draggable, droppable, or what have you. The example code for it - I'm not entirely understanding so a quickie sample would be great. I'm a fast learner and can apply it from there to my project. More importantly, how do I get objects that are created during runtime to be draggable, and fire my event that I wrote in the only language that I know?

I would like to ask a question with DataGridView event handling.The event I am going to handle is the double-clicking of a cell in a DataGridView:If the DataGridView's are statically drawn on the form at design time, then it is easy to assign to each of them an even handler by double clicking the corresponding event in the properties panel.
Private
SubDataGridView1_CellDoubleClick(sender
AsSystem.Object,
[code]....
So basically I have handle to all of the DataGridView's. Is there a way to create a common event handler on this basis?
I'm not seeing anything about event handlers for dynamically created controls.. and I could have sworn I had once before. I did see one post about the topic, but it was just replied by asking for some posted code, so as in a preemptive move..
Private Sub buttonCreate()
Dim newbutton As New Button
newbutton.Height = 39
[CODE]...
Here's what I'm trying...
Private Sub newButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles newButton.Click
End Sub
Here's the errors I recieve...QuoteHandles clause requires a WithEvents variable defined in the containing type or one of its base types
I have written a code to generate numerous command button during runtime depend on the user selection. I would like to find out how do we handle the command button click event?
View 4 RepliesI have a problem in handling the events for dynamically created controlsI am creating a combobox and a textbox dynamically when i click a Button1 for each combobox there is one corresponding textboxso the number of times i click Button1 i will get that many number of comboboxes and textboxes.i have added an Event handler to handle the ComboBox_SelectedIndexChangedWhenever i click any of the combobox the above event is triggered.So far it is working fine.Now comes the problem i have to get the selected item for each combobox in the appropriate textbox
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click

I'm trying to add subs that will handle MouseOver events on textboxes that don't get created until after the program starts.
Each textbox gets created with a unique number attached to it like this...
AptTextBox0
AptTextBox1
AptTextBox2
etc...
Depending on how many are needed. But I never expect more than say... 15 at any given time.
Is it possible to handle MouseOver (or any events for that matter) if they don't exist until later.
I tried this but it didn't work....
I added this is the Designer code....
Friend WithEvents AptTextBox0 As System.Windows.Forms.TextBox
Friend WithEvents AptTextBox1 As System.Windows.Forms.TextBox
Friend WithEvents AptTextBox2 As System.Windows.Forms.TextBox
[Code]....
But it doesn't do anything. I don't get errors, but apparently it's still missing something to properly handle the events.
