Methods Of Running The Words Through A Function That Have Created?
Dec 2, 2007
I'm teaching myself vb.net. For my first project I am making a md5 dictionary attack tool.I know that there are alot of them but I figured it would be a good way for me to start out.Right now I'm looking for other methods of running the words through a function that I have created.
i'm new to the VB programing world, actually to programming world in general, so before i start i have a question. I've heard that to run programs created in VB you need to have NET Framework on your comp, is this true?Cause i found somewhere on the web that you have a exe in your Debugging folder, and i tried running it on my friends comp which is without framework and it worked. Don't know if this was some error or something, and if there will be problems if i run them like this, so i wanted to ask professionals,
I seem to be having an issue with Building my application. THe programs builds just fine, but when you install the program and then run the program it wants to act like its configuring the program, prior to running the actual program.I get a windows box that pops up stating its configuring the program and then it runs. But it only happens when I access the program through the shortcuts that I have the program create when it installs. If I go directly to the program directory and click on the program there, it starts just fine.
In Visual Basic 2008 Express edition: Create a new string replacing the order of the words, from last one to the first one and show it in a text box..Example: Input: This is an example Output:example an is Thisť..I know theres a function to reverse the letters (StrReverse), but the order of the words?
Code: Public Class Form1 Dim NPB As Button Dim x As Integer
[code]....
As you can see, when I open a program from my menu, a new button will be created with text similar to this, "C:Program ". The button it self will not do anything. How can I create the method at the same time the button it is for is created? Also how can I change the text do that it gives me, for example, CCleaner.exe instead of the whole target path?
I am trying to create a function to remove dirty words from user input text and want to replace those dirty words with four ****. In my scenario , i have list of dirty words where i would iterate the input user text and want to replace. Say for example.,
Dim InputTxt As String = "hi bush how are you.... $hit and @ss" Dim OutPut As String = " hi **** how are you... **** and ****";
Problem: It works fine to replace some word like " bush" however fails in the below function doesn't replace "$hit" and "@ss".
Note: I do not want to use string.Replace because it doesn't have word boundary in the sentence..
Public Function pReplaceWords(ByVal dirtyWord As String, ByVal inputText As String, ByVal options As RegexOptions) As String Try
I am still a beginner programmer so keep in mind that what I'm trying to do is beyond my knowledge but I have no one to teach me Visual Basic except from what little I can learn off of the internet. Currently, I am using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition so my problem may be appear different if I show you any of my code.
I've created a program that contains a label and the words in the label form a question. Below that is a textbox with some text that has to be memorize for a play. Just think of the question as the previous speakers part. So far I've set it so that the words in the textbox are randomly removed and are replaced with a blank. I face with the program is that the user can't enter the answer because the blank is in the way.
Instead of putting a blank where the missing word is I would like to have some textboxes put there that way the user can enter the missing word and so that I can later insert some code that will let the user check to see if the answer they entered is correct.now the missing word is still replaced by the blank so I need to get rid of that and insert the textbox wherever the words are missing.
Can a form be Created that has Aero Glass when in Vista/Win7 and when running in XP or 98 use a regular border? If so can I have a link to the infromation or a code sample?
I created a class library containing some properties and methods, when I call a specific method that runs a sequence of tests, it reports "out of memory exception". When I take the same code and build a form.exe, I do not get the "out of memory exception".
I'm trying to use in vb.net a function and an interface created in c#. The function is RegisterDragDrop and the interface is IDropTarget:
Public Shared Function RegisterDragDrop(ByVal hwnd As System.IntPtr, ByVal pDropTarget As GongSolutions.Shell.Interop.IDropTarget) As Integer the second parameter points to an IDropTarget interface.
I'm implementing this interface in vb.net as follows:
public class CategoryRepository: RepositoryBase<Category>, ICategoryRepository { public CategoryRepository(IDatabaseFactory databaseFactory) : base(databaseFactory)
[Code]...
Does anyone has an idea what i should change to let it work and let my UserRepository use the methods in RepositoryBase while implementing the IUserRepository?
I was playing with vb 2008 express and i created a function with no return type. Basically what it does is i specify a table name and a column name and it returns the value within but it doesn't type it until it gets to the calling variables type. So i have on function that i can use across all my tables.
Eg: dim mydate as date = getvalue("tblSRs", "datelogged") msgbox (mydate) dim desc as String = getvalue("tblSRs", "description") msgbox(desc)
Both return the correct values. were you always able to leave the typecasting till the end and whats the major downfall?
I've got 2 RTB one is for input of text and one is output. The output one needs to read the words from the input and display it alphabetically and with their line numbers.I have partly done it and it currently reads it but here is my problem When the words are outputted let say for example there are 2 words the same on the same line e.g the word 'you' appears twice on line one,at the moment its coming up like this
May I know how can I put a progress bar to make it keep running when the function FnProcessApproval() is running and stop when the messagebox is display?
I'm working on an updater for my applications. I'm using VB .NET 2005. So, when I push the button called "Download" it runs twice and does the following: Download the file (~20mb). When the file is downloaded then it does again the same overwriting the first file. I used the following to make the download possible:
i face a problem in checking file condition.I wish to create a program that can check the condition file continuously while the program is running.[code]If I suddenly remove the file, it cant show a message File not Exist or if I suddenly receive a file and place at the folder,it cant show me a message File already Exist. How can I modify my code to continuously checking the file condition while the program is running.
when trying to run a function in a separate thread, my reason for trying this is because since the application is only run on one thread, the GUI hangs when the function is called.[code]In this code, the Print screen Button is pressed and the function HookCallBack is called. The problem is that the function has variables that need to be passed and returned, and while searching, i found a website that had an answer for this, and it required the function to be put in a class, and then it could be run on a separate thread while still passing all the variables needed.url...But the code cannot be placed in a class without giving errors and it seems to me like i did something wrong. The code is meant to be used in a form and not a class. My question is, how would i go about running the HookCallBack Function in a Separate thread?
I am working with a vb program, but there is something strange on one of my .vb code pagewhen i put the "dot" afther the object name its dont show the methods availables for this objectbut on other vb code pages i can see it. but in this one no.for exmaplethis is a piece of code: Dim sb As New StringBuilder()
I am not sure how clear my question is by the title, but I am trying to make Class methods instead of Instance methods in Visual Basic that way I don't have to waste memory and code creating temporary objects to execute methods that don't need instance variables.
I am not sure if you can do that in VB but I know you can in Objective-C by using either a "+" or "-" sign in front of the method declaration. And in C++ (at least I think, I can't remember) you put the static keyword or const keyword in front of the function. How would I do this in VB if it is possible? Or should I just make a separate set of functions that are not members of a class?
I am Using same function from many places...for example below function
Public Sub getUser(ByVal Name as string) dim myName=Name ....... insert(myName) End Sub
I am using this function from so many places...I have doubt should this function override this myName values with latest function call?Suppose i called getUser("ABC") so value of myName is now ABC now sudden all call getUser("XYZ") so at insert(myName) will it insert("ABC") or insert("XYZ")??I need it to be insert("ABC") and then insert("XYZ")
Is it possible to run a function or to execute a button just after the form was loaded? I mean to execute it just as the form_load subroutine has ended, so the form is already being displayed.
Currently the process is in VBS, however this means there is no real interface.I attempted to get this into HTA, but this doesn't work to well due to known issues - the interface doesn't update with information until the end of the code (functions) are executed. So I thought I would create a VB program to do the work.Ideally, I would have a form load, and once loaded the functions (which map drives accordingly) will display the results on the screen. My code should be pretty sound - it is working - but it seems to be invoking BEFORE the form is displayed.I have tried various subroutines, such as Form1_Load, Form1_Activate, Form1_Shown, but all of these execute the code before the form has loaded and is displayed on the screen. As a test, I have
Private Sub Form1_Shown(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load lbl_Head01.Text = "HELLO WORLD"
I have created an application using visual studio 2008. The application is to copy the data from one excel file and paste to another excel file. The problem happen when i try use the copy paste function at the same time in other excel file.(I have opened others excel file before the application start.) I'm noticed the value that i paste is not same from what i copy in the excel file.(the application is running behind and using copy paste function at the same time.) How to hold the value using vb.net when copy from excel for the application so that other copy paste function is not affect it?
In my .NET porject, I have to run a lot of validation on 4/5 fields. This validation checks if certain fields have errors, for example: the name field is not allowed to have numbers or symbols. If all these checks are passed, I need to execute a SQL query to pull some data out of the database. I could have it with a lot of nested IFs, and run the function at the end once it passes them all, but this will translate into about 12 nested IFs, and it seems a really bulky way to do it. I have also thought about setting a boolean value after every check, and if the value is 1 then don't run the function, else do. But of course this gets overwritten by other checks that pass.
I need to reverse a string of words without using the reverse function. This is what I have so far, BUT it only shows the last two letters. For example: if i type "John" it will only give me "ho"
Public Class frmReverse Dim original As String Dim New1 As String
[code]....
I need to this without using things we haven't seen in class.
