[2005] Make Own Contextmenustrip For The Web Browser Control?
Sep 7, 2007
What I'm trying to do is make my own contextmenustrip for the web browser control, this menu has two items so far: "Select All" which will select all the text displayed and "Copy" which simply copies whatever text is highlighted or selected. No images are displayed so no need to worry about that.
Also I've noticed that whenever a file is dragged from windows and dropped onto the web browser control on my form, the browser simply displays the file (these are xml files that I'm dropping on the control, on my form) which is not what I want it to do, instead I want to grab the file path & name and use it elsewhere. The browser control doesn't have the DragEnter, DragDrop, DragLeave events like labels, forms, textboxes, etc... how would I handle this?

I am trying to use the Web Browser control in my vb .net user control. I am using VS 2008. Finally, I will be calling my assembly (.dll) from a web page. I wanted to display the usercontrol with the web browser control inside this web page. The problem is I cannot proceed since the Web browser control cannot be called from a partially trusted assembly. Using VS 2008 I have created a strong name for my class, also added the <Assembly: AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers()> to the AssemblyInfo. But still the web browser control cannot be seen in my web page. Do you how I can make my assembly fully trusted so that it can access web browser control? If you have used web browser control, can you confirm if this step is really required?!

you must have observed an yellow strip displayed in the web browser for most of the events like 'pop up blocked', 'asking to save the password',etc. i want an same kind of yellow strip to be displayed in my form after the menu and tool strips. That strip must be displayed above the control(if any) which are placed exactly under the tool-strip. I must be able to call it in the same way like we do for the message-box.

I can create them using Ctrl+T(webbrowser controls and all) but after that I don't have any idea on how to control them(let's say I select the 5 tab and I don't know how to make that web browser control to navigate to a given webpage). I was thinking of creating an array of webbrowsers but I don;t know how that works.

What I am looking for here is a way to possibly click a button inside a web browser control and have it call a sub from inside the program or have the program react to something on the page. I am trying to make a HTML5 GUI for my application. I don't really want use any 3rd party API's to handle commands from a HTML5 interface but if I can find another alternative that would be good. But if there is no other way I would be content with using a 3rd party API.

I am using a VB.NET program that uses the WebBrowser control to navigate the Web. The site that I need to navigate to suddenly became not IE-friendly. So, I am thinking to try to make it look to the site that the WebBrowser control is not IE, but a Mozilla Firefox browser.[code]...

I have a form with a webbrowser control on it, and I load up a local file in it with some code for a rotating banner (so I can support my app with advertising). The problem I'm having is, it is for example, a banner ad in the small banner sized control, when the user click's it, it loads the new page within the same control, which is way too small.I'd like for any click in the control to load up the link in IE itself, outside of my app. Putting target=_blank so far hasn't helped. Below is the code that I am loading up in my control.

The specific features I want to produce is it doesn't place on the form, it places in the little box at the bottom and when CustomUserControl.Show() is called it shows as a dialog boxI'm sorry if I misspelled something or my grammar is wrong, I've never done well in those subjects.

I've got a contextmenustrip with a couple levels of dropdowns (submenu items). Let's say I right-click the form and show the "main" set of items, one of which is "Food". If I move the mouse over Food (not click it), a dropdown (submenu) for Food should open, which it does. But then, say, one of the food items is "Fruit". When I move the mouse over "Fruit", the Fruit submenu should open automatically - but it does not always - sometimes it does, but sometimes I have to click it to open it. Furthermore, once "Fruit" has been clicked once to open, any other dropdown items (let's say we had "Veggies" and "Meat") will automatically open as I expect; and then "Fruit" will behave as expected also.
Any ideas on how to correct this inconsistent behavior? (i.e. all sets of dropdowns associated with a contextmenuitem should open when the mouse is moved over it, a click should not be required)

At design-time I have added the ToolStripItems to the ToolStripDropDownButton but I want to provide a Context Menu which has the same items but when I am adding the items to the ContextMenuStrip at runtime they are removed from the ToolStripDropDownButton and are only available to the ContextMenuStrip already, is it not possible to have them in both ToolStripDropDownButton and ContextMenuStrip?Rather than duplicating the menus I would have preferred utilizing them in both ToolStripDropDownButton and ContextMenuStrip.

In vb.net (2008), I want to be able to control when a contextMenuStrip (context menu) is displayed. I don't want it to always appear when the right mouse button is clicked...only when certain criteria within my program are met. I figure I would use addHandler but I'm not exactly clear on how to completely control the opening of the contextMenuStrip. I know I would issue a call to the "open" method to render the contextMenuStrip. However, I am unclear as to how to completely take over control of when to render the contextMenuStrip.

I've made a ContextMenuStrip to use in my program to change the image in a picture box. However, it's used with multiple picture boxes which each need to have their own changed. What I want to do is make my command change only that picture box leaving the others as they were before. An example, if this were a plausible code.
Private Sub TestToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TestToolStripMenuItem.Click
Self(aka the control that currently has the menu open).Image = My.Resources.Picture
End Sub

I'm using a ContextMenuStrip for multiple controls and I'm trying to figure out the best way to get the control that was actually clicked on to open the Context Menu. The sender just gives the ToolStripMenuItem reference, which has an Owner property that references the ContextMenuStrip, but I cannot figure out how to tell which control the click came from. There must be a simple way to check this, right? I'm checking it in the ToolStripMenuItem's click event.
Friend WithEvents mnuWebCopy As System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripMenuItem
...
Private Sub mnuWebCopy_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles mnuWebCopy.Click
I found a similar post about this, but that mentions using a SourceControl property which I do not see on here.
I'm using Visual Studio 2008, VB.Net winforms.

If you assign a ContextMenuStrip to the DataGridView.ContextMenuStrip property and then right-click a cell, the CellMouseClick event doesn't fire. Why would the ContextMenuStrip block this event from occurring?
My workaround at the moment is to separate the ContextMenuStrip from the DataGridView and show it with code, but this seems unnecessary.

I coded a web browser over the course of a year called Nova - very advanced with tabbed browsing, bookmarks, homepage, history, etc etc etc etc. I could go on all day about how advanced it is. But.. there is one flaw. You cannot make it the default browser; I don't know the code!I already know the CommandLineArgs stuff so it actually opens the HTML file rather than just opening the program; in fact, I already can make files open with Nova completely. It's just the other stuff - you know, when a website is to be opened from a help file or something, it opens with Nova, Windows recognises it as the default browser, stuff like that.

Other topics around the Internet are all unfinished topics, so I'll ask this myself. How do I set a self-made browser as the default browser? I know it has something to do with accessing the registry and checking what the value is in some places, but I'm not quite sure. Now, I've made this browser called Nova;
very well coded and advanced, tabbed browsing, bookmarks, homepage, history, can change default search provider, uses Gecko as its engine so it's not just an IE shell, etc. It's been developed over the past year and will still continue to be developed. I'm almost ready to release the first version - but I just need this annoyance solved.

I only started using visual basic earlier this year so I'm still a newbie but I've been wondering some things:
1. When you have a picturebox back color to transparent, objects under it still get hidden. Is there a way around this?
2. I've been trying to make a program where you can control an object, and it has multiple animations, but I can't figure out a way of doing this other than having a bunch of picture boxes together and making them visible/not visible as needed. Is there a better way to do this?
3. (I think) I know how to make global variables (dim whatever as global.system.integer ? I don't have it on the computer I'm posting with), but how do I make another form use them?
4. Is there a way to have multiple sounds play at the same time? Whenever I play a sound it stops whatever else is playing.

I would like for my program to navigate via textbox1.text with multiple lines and multiple url links inside of it. I know how to make the webbrowser1.navigate via textbox1.text with multiple lines, however I want my webbrowser to navigate to each url every 1-1.5 seconds once button1 is clicked. Yes, my webbrowser1 will navigate to the specified urls via the textbox1.text (multilines) with a button click, but I need the webbrowser1 to navigate in a order sequence from top to bottom of Textbox1.text (multiplelines) every 1 second. Here is the current code that I have to navigate via multilined textbox1.text control in order sequence:

I'm making a small web browser to put in a program. Basically its a tab control and a button atm, when the buttons pressed it uses the code below to add a new tab and make the tab a web browser. [code] What I want is when I navigate to a web page for the tab name to be the title of the web page (instead of tabpage1, tabpage2 etc). I was told to put the below code in the web browser navigated sub but seeing as that sub isn't available because there isn't a browser in there until its running I have no where to put the code. Basically I want to make a Web Browser in VB in which will load up websites, let me login, etc.... but I want to make it change what I see visually on my computer, not the site itself, but what I see when a site is loaded.
Like say I know a website that has spelling errors and code errors and stuff, then I can code for my browser to change those words automatically as the page is loaded, but also being able to login on the website and everything still.
I don't know if this is possible, and I know it's like kind of possible for IE itself with stuff like GreaseMonkey for IE, and the same for FireFox, so how to build an VB app which will do this either directly in IE or from within my own custom VB app?
