VB - VSTO Outlook Email Add-in Firing Twice
Jun 22, 2011I have a VSTO Outlook 2007 add-in that loads on startup. When it loads it does the following: [Code] When the email is sent the app works fine. But when I click on the Button, then the add in fires 2x times and when I use the context menu it also fires 2x times. Any idea why this might be?

Can I import a rule through my VSTO 2005 Outlook (2003) Addin? Or can I create the rule from within this addin?
Saving Non-VSTO Copy Of VSTO Workbook
Sep 1, 2009I am trying to save a ListObject from a .NET 3.5 Excel 2007 VSTO Workbook to a new sheet (done) and save that new sheet to a new workbook (done) without that workbook requiring the VSTO customization file (!!!!!).
Has anyone had any luck with this? The only way I've had any success is just saving as a CSV file but that's not exactly acceptable in this case. I'd rather not save to a CSV just to copy back to a XLS file.

Get Outlook Email Address Not In A Group
Jun 22, 2010I have a vb.net 2008 form that sends and email along with an attachment.
I want to offer up a list of available email address to choose so my user doesn't make a typo.
Problem is the email addresses are not part of any GAL / group because they are from outside the company. However if my user begins to type the email address such as xyz outlook begins to make suggestions such as [email]xyz@anothercompany.com[/email]; [email]xyz@noinagroup.com[/email] because my user has either sent them an email in the past or recieved one. My question, where does outlook keep this list and how can I retreive it using vb. I know how to get the Global Address book and the other contacts but I need the list of emails that are not associated with any groups but are in outlook.

Jul 3, 2009I have written a code in VB.NET using "Microsoft Outlook 11.0 Object Library" to create an appointment, task or contact in Outlook. Now the problem is once i create an appointment, task or contact from my VB.NET code and then if i open these item in outlook and modifies and save the content (like body of an appointment) then the lastmodification time of these item doesn't gets modified. It always shows the previous lastmodification time. This happens only for those item which got created from my VB.NET code.
I have tried realsing the COM object in my VB.NET Code.

Apr 20, 2009I work for a somewhat large company.There are about 160 Windows XP Pro users. We are still using Microsoft Office 2000 for the most part.We have upgraded some users to Office 2003. We are not using Microsoft Exchange.I have to export every users' Outlook 2000 or Outlook 2003 Contacts into an Excel or CSV file every 6 months as a way of backing the Outlook Address Contacts.Currently I am doing this by physically going to every pc and manually exporting the contacts.This is a large pain.I am trying to find out if I can use or create a Visual Basic 2008 Express program or script that will export the contacts from Outlook and save it as an Excel or CSV file.The name of the file should be the same as the computers net name.It should be saved in the same location, on the network, each time.I am new to programming and new to VB 2008 Express.I do not know or have any code to start with.

May 3, 2011I'm trying to match up a specific group name and see if it exists for the currently logged in user using Active Directory roles. If the Group Name exists for the Current User, I want that group name to be displayed in a drop down list. VS 2008 Reading Outlook And Outlook Express Data?
Oct 9, 2009I'm working on an application that takes certain outlook email messages, saved as text files, and loads data from them into a database. It would be better if I could read the messages from the inbox directly into my app without the user having to save them as text files. I've searched the web and every example I find is from 2003 or earlier and is using VB6. I'd like to read both Outlook and Outlook Express Inboxes. Can someone either provide me with the code to do this or a good "recent" link with a tutorial?

Jul 21, 2009I've developed a Word template in VSTO. When published it consits of several files including a Setup.exe, several msi files etc.Due to the fact that my company's security policy won't allow me to store dlls and exes on the server I need an alternative way to provide all the necessary stuff to the end user. I thoght it would be enough if I:
1) execute the setup.exe file on each client machine (it says everything got properly installed)
2) upload the xxx.dotm file to sharepoint and register it
3) edit policy settings
but it doesn't. When a user creates a new Document inside sharepoint using "New"->"xxx" the requested document loads without any error message and show the document but Word won't load any extensions / ribbons etc.

Recognizing New Or Already Known Document With VSTO?
May 11, 2011I've never worked with VSTO and I've recently read all kinds of stuff about it. So I ask a theoretical question. I'm trying to make an addin which should (using buttons in it's own ribbon tab) upload the document to my website (it's like slideshare). The problem is that this file may be already uploaded and the user may be just trying to update it.
So I need a way to tell if this file has already been uploaded. I know the prediction can't be 100% accurate, that's why I'm going to ask the user with a dialog, but I need it to be fairly clever to alert the user if the file MAY BE is already uploaded.
This assumption can be client-side only, with a database of some sort (in the addin itself).I thought of recording the file's name and based on this I can decide if the file is new or it's already uploaded.
PS. Working on Office 2010 with the latest version of VSTO in VS 2010. My main .net language is VB but samples in C# are more than welcome (if you have ones).

May 3, 2010I am using 2008 Express Edition. I am trying to make a Release build instead of a Debug build.Under Tools->Options, Projects and Solutions->General - I checked Show advanced build configurations. The option to switch configurations does not show up in the IDE.
After this, I went to the Project Properties->Compile and switched the Configuration from Active(Debug) to Release.After building, I looked in my project directory, however only in the Debug sub-directory was the .exe and nothing in the Release sub-directory.I have used Visual C++ Express Edition, where I noticed that if you do not change to Release in the IDE than after changing to Release in properties, resets the project to the last configuration setting which is usually Debug.how to make the Debug/Release box available in the IDE, since Tools/Options does not make it show up?
